I have been to this business four plus time in the last year. In the beginning of 2024 they repaired my car and I have had to bring it back in multiple times due to their errors for further work. I brought it in once due to a check engine light turning on right after then had done work. they said the light was wrong and the car was fine. A few months ago, i was driving across country and in Lincoln my "service engine light soon" came on. it was a Friday morning and I needed to find out what was wrong and fix it before I headed East on my own. My daughter goes to UNL and was stuck in California during Coronavirus quarantine for several months while her car sat at Omaha airport. When she drove car after sitting idle for so long her brakes kept making a funny sound while braking. I called Jeff at Auto Connection (based on AAA and yelp) being a worried Dad from 1500 miles away and he said to have her come in. They looked at the brakes and confirmed what they thought it was just some rust on the rotors from sitting. She got an oil change for a reasonable price and no charge for the brakes. Trust doesn't come easy. There was only one mechanic that I trust and he lives in Fresno, California. Unfortunately, CA is a bit too far away to have maintenance done on a vehicle in Lincoln, Nebraska! I've been to a couple places in Lincoln, including local shops. They had conflicting diagnoses, but even worse, they all misdiagnosed the issue. To add insult to injury, one of the local shops charged me for the misdiagnoses! Luckily, there is now an entire auto shop I trust: The Auto Connection. These guys have the one-two punch of (1) quality customer service, and (2) excellent mechanics. Settling on any one of the prior shops would have set me back $400+ on a misdiagnoses. Luckily, I stuck with the search till I found a shop I can trust. I love the work they do here, affordable and fast, high quality, friendly. Unfortunately, when I picked up my car I noticed that a prowler had been inside, torn through the glovebox and consoles and door pouches, left the car a mess and taken my garage door opener (my address is of course on my registration that was in glovebox). I contacted auto connection to let them know and they will be looking at security tape for their lot. I believe that the car was left unlocked because there were no signs of break-in and the car has an alarm. Be careful of this location, I thought it was safe to leave my car there overnight. read more

UPDATE: Less than 3 months later, both of the jobs the Auto Connection did on the car have failed, so I am downgrading my rating. First, the suspension started making noises over even small bumps in the road. A local shop (in Los Angeles) inspected it and said the previous sway bar installation (by the Auto Connection) was bad -- it was missing a grease fitting on the right side. As a result, the sway bar had become very loose, making the noise, and the threads on the links were damaged. The labor cost to fix the botched sway bar install was $135. Second, the brakes have developed loud squeals and groans, and recently also starting having abnormal feedback. Again, this is less than 3 months after Auto Connection replaced the rotors and pads. But, I suspect that these will have to get fixed or replaced again soon, too. As stated in the original review, the car is now on the west coast, so the Auto Connection can't re-do any of their work on it, but even if they could, quite frankly I wouldn't trust it anymore. Even in Lincoln, I've had much better experiences with other repair shops. Original Review: I have mixed experiences with this place. The first time I brought my car here, they didn't find anything wrong and sent me home with no diagnostic fee, so that was good. The second time I had a belt replaced here, and that experience was fine too. However, the most recent time I was here, I came with a specific suspension issue that was making a loud noise. They told me they fixed it, but I soon realized that the issue was still there. After looking at it again, they said the problem was actually coming from another part, but that it was not urgent and that there would be a lot of labor cost to go through it again and fix the part. They basically encouraged me not to bother. Well, that was after I had already spent $250 with them for the suspension, *and* a $300 brake job they said I needed. If they had diagnosed it right the first time, I might've saved some labor cost by replacing the two suspension parts at the same time. So I'm out $550 and the original issue was not even fixed! Not happy about that -- I wanted to fix the car before giving it to a family member across the country, but because of this I had to give it to them with the noise still there. So, you might go there and have a good experience, but I would not say that it's very consistent. read more

It's the nightmare you hope will never happen--you are halfway through a cross-country drive with almost no money in your pocket, and the check engine light comes on. That's what happened to me this morning. Luckily, I was just outside Lincoln, NE, and yelp directed me to this place. They checked out my car, made a quick adjustment, and within 30 minutes, I was back on the road--at no charge! Even the wait was pleasant, with coffee, free wifi, easily accessible restrooms. The very kind woman at the counter even directed me to outlets in case I needed to charge my computer or phone. And when they were done, the mechanic came over and sat next to me in the waiting room to explain what they'd done. Unbelievablely good service--thank you! read more

Update: received a letter from The Auto Connection today stating that I should adjust the review as and I quote "I did a quick google search for 'Auto repair prices' and picked two different sites (at random and I only viewed two sites), entered your vehicle information and a Lincoln zip code and printed the results enclosed." The results as expected where higher than the charged price of the shop. Each stating that the starter was 239-436 or 348 respectively. Though I respect that the charge of The Auto Connection was "Cheaper" I wasn't directly comparing them to another shop. I know for a fact that if I could have installed it myself had conditions and arrangements allowed and it would have been significantly cheaper. Labor however was not my concern in this regard, the price of the specific starter was. In my research (typing the make and model of my car into google and clicking on three random results), looking at a starter prices varied from $90 for a re-manufactured unit and $150 for a brand new part from reputable retailers. That is the reason I considered it to be way overpriced not labor, not because of customer service. Though after the experience I can say that there will be no chance of me returning to the shop, it's bad enough to be overcharged for a part but when the owner sends you a letter asking you to change your review to a more positive one and insinuating that you have no idea what you are talking about that clenches my dislike of the company right there.
