After getting what I thought was an outrageous estimate and a "doom and gloom scenario" from the Dealer I took my Lexus to The Auto Servivce (TAS) and had a great conversation with Walter and Glenn. They gave me some great advice and we scheduled an appointment which yielded a comprehensive evaluation and very realistic estimate (with NO UPSELL) followed by the work being performed quickly and flawlessly. I am beyond happy. TAS is my new go-to service center for my Lexus and we will also be bringing my wife's 4 year old Toyota Highlander to TAS for any work needed. Longtime customer here. They did it again! I spend a lot of time on the road between SD and OC, so my 2008 Toyota is a true road warrior. When my warrior developed a loud rattle during my latest OC trip, I had it towed in to Steve and his team for an estimate and repairs. Glen kept me informed every step of the way, and called when the original estimate had to be revised (the rattle came from a worn AC compressor...not a cheap fix but well worth it). I was also advised which additional items needed attention ASAP, and which could wait til next time. John left some big shoes to fill when he retired, and Glen stepped into them nicely, in keeping with the TAS tradition of friendly, reasonably priced service. My car was ready when promised, and I was back on the road rattle-free and ready for the next round trip from SD to OC and back. I brought my 2009 Prius in for a minor service special, brake fluid flush, and some basic parts replacements. Overall, the experience was great! Booking: I was able to easily book an appointment online the night before, which was super convenient. I showed up at 9:30am on a Wednesday and was out in just about an hour. Service: The guy who helped me was friendly and explained the services clearly. I appreciated the transparent pricing: $90 for the service special (oil change, filter, wiper blades, system checks, etc), $180 for the brake fluid flush, and $59 for parts. While the brake flush felt a bit on the higher end, I felt confident in the service overall. Facilities: Their guest lounge was fantastic--clean, well-maintained, and very comfortable. There's a work desk if you need to get some work done, as well as a sofa and lounge chairs. They even had refrigerated water bottles, chocolates, and a nice restroom. Came in on a coworkers recommendation to try them out. I had to change my blinker light and they told me most of the time they don't charge for that unless it's a special case. I was a bit worried as I had a bmw and to get to the light you have to access the panel by the tire. Luckily i fell into the don't charge bucket! They were also extremely quick I was in and out in less than 20min! Shout out to Glenn! Appreciate their service and will be back for other repairs/maintenance on my car. read more

Lost spare fob got that replaced and reprogrammed thru AAA . The locksmith couldn't do all work and I had to go to Toyota to buy lock assembly and TAs installed . They were fast , friendly and had a nice waiting area. It was $180 to have the lock assembly installed . read more

John.. What the Heck did you do to my mazda? I asked you to fix one thing, one thing.. but you had to be such a nice guy and brought it back to life. So a quick back story before I roast John some more, I was driving it home and parked at a school when the clutch broke. Yea.. the clutch was completely depressed to the floor, everything else worked though. Thank god I wasn't on the freeway when that happened. Anyway, with Johns mouth yapping away after dropping the car off, he finally looked at the car and said the clutch ain't broke but the master brake and slave is broke. Yikes, surprised those words haven't been deleted from history yet. So instead of having his top guy ordered to change the clutch, he had a whole work up on the car to see if theres any preventative maintenance we can do to keep this car for another 13 years. 2 days and 3 parts later, we got the car back and the first ride home I felt like its' got years back. We totally feel for the price we paid, we got a fair, thorough, and thoughtful service. Not only did John and his team do a great job, you can tell this family run business treat its' customers like family. I was helped right away and shown where I could wait for my vehicle with an estimated time for the work to be completed. I was very impressed by their professionalism and friendly service. The shop and lounge area were very clean. The technician went over my invoice with me prior to doing the work and the prices were reasonable. Unbelievable horrible disrespectful customer service when you hang up on a customer you should never work or be running a customer centric business. I simply commented that the price I was quoted was more expensive then the actual Mercedes dealership and I was told "then go to the dealership" and got HUNG UP ON!!! I was in a bind when my car wouldn't start. I was at my daughter's school and didn't know what to do or who to take it to, as I had only ever used the dealership to repair my car. While I waited for the tow truck to arrive, I googled the closest shop that had good reviews and that is where I found The Auto Service. I called and they said they would be able to diagnose my vehicle once it got there. I dropped it off and was even given a ride back to my home. Finding a new mechanic that you trust is hard. Fortunately for us, we got lucky and found TAS when we moved here two years ago. We've worked directly with John mostly, but the others are just as great... we just happened to have worked with John the first trip. We have all our cars taken care of here, even though they're in a different city. I've never felt like they tried to upsell anything. In fact, I've taken my car in thinking something was wrong and walked out reassured everything was fine after a few minor adjustments, & without a bill because it was so minor. They were right too! Do not go here!!! This place is major rip off. Please please get other quotes and do your research before considering this place. AAA had recommended this place and dropped off my car to get a tire hub replaced. They quoted my husband Matthew $$1300 for labor and cost. They had worked on it an hour before I had asked them to stop because I found two places that will charge 390$ total for labor and parts. Two places quoted me same price verbally on the phone before taking it in. I asked The Auto Service to stop working on my car so I can take it somewhere else to get repaired . they charged me 407$ for 1.5 hours of work that consist of removing and reinstalling same damage hub. So I can have it towed somewhere else. So no actually repair was done at this place. After dropping off my car and having my current repair examine the car. He was able to repair the damage hub for only 150$ no extra part was required. 150$ for the labor and that's it!!! So The Auto Service was quoting me $$1300 for labor and parts . While another reputable mechanic charged 150$ to fix current damaged hub. Wow They are ripping you off, please please please save your money and do your research before taking your car here. read more

Brought a dealership car in for a pre-purchase inspection. The way Steve explained how thoroughly they check the car encouraged me to choose them. Other Shops I called said "Leave it here we might get to it today" but The Auto Service really put me at ease. They even dropped the dealership salesperson back to their lot (4miles away) and hopefully earned their future business too. Finally, Glenn patiently explained the issues based on the 60-90min inspection. I had my mechanic friend ask better questions with me over the phone and Glenn was very thorough. That said, I had another vehicle of mine being serviced at an auto shop in your area that "used to" recommend your shop and send you business...They said they had MULTIPLE negative comments from customers they sent you..."Over Priced" "Missing parts after service" a few felt "Mislead and felt there were being SOLD" to do more services than needed...Way to upsell John, we need to pay for that overpriced software we bought! As far as your response to my Yelp review and your version of the FACTS... I just had my truck at a shop down the street earlier that day and he's the one that told me the covers/caps that were missing since he saw it earlier that day and he confirm that the repairs your shop did is where the NEW oil leaks were coming from because the gasket wasn't sealed properly! I bought it back in at your request and you had your guys replace the gasket they initially installed! Is your memory a little foggy? Again, I not sure why I'm wasting my time going back and forth with you...I'm guessing that your company was started by your Dad and/or Grandfather and handed down to you? I'm guessing they also built the business off of Quality of work, honesty and making sure every customer was satisfied... My 2012 Volvo XC 60 has been a workhorse. But at 90k, I realized it was overdue for an overall inspection, especially the transmission. Service manager John gave me a great quote for the service. But was quick to call when they found a broken motor mount bushing and leaking transmission seal. While it ended up being a little more than the quote, he actually saved me needing an $8000 transmission in the near future based on the low trans fluid. He didn't sell me anything I didn't need. The shop is immaculate, a very professional crew and will now be a top referral for any auto make servicing. We thought it might be a bad alternator but after fully checking it out, John told me everything was fine but I need to drive it more or at least leave it running for 20 minutes once or twice a week. I was going to my dealership to have my vehicle checked due to white smoke coming out the exhaust. I knew I was low on coolant, but still wanted to have checked out in case there was any leaks or damage to my vehicle. My dealership said it was going to be approximately $150 to look at the issue. That's when I decided to go to The Auto Service. The service was amazing they took a look at my car and was told there was no leaks or damage to worry about and topped off the coolant. I had been taking my cars here off and on since before they changed their name. They always upsold services past estimates (20-30%) as they "found" things wrong with the car, but the car ran well afterwards so I just dealt with it. This last repair, I was quoted $1500 to replace the knock sensor in a 2002 RX. A bit on the high side but I authorized it, Upsell was close to 50% this time, and they aggravated a slow oil leak in the car during the repair, so it is back at another shop being looked at. Second review of this place... They changed my battery a few months ago which we learned it's defective. I took to another shop where they tested and shows a faulty battery. I brought it back to get it replaced. On the phone, John sounded so happy to just replace it. I bring it in and they do a test (I understand they have to test it and not just take my word for it). John comes back into the waiting room 30 min later and says "the battery seems low but it doesn't seem to be a battery issue; perhaps the alternator. The test is almost done. If we need to replace the battery we'll replace it but we'll see." Another 30 min later, he comes in and says "the battery is fine". He said the test shows all good and continues to say that I probably left the light on and he sent me away. I insisted, no, it's been starting slow for several days until one day it died and didn't start. And repeated that I tested elsewhere where it shows defective. Anyway, I was going to leave and never turn back and just get it replaced elsewhere and eat the cost of the whole experience. If they can't prove the battery is defective, I can't push. So I was about to leave. The car was waiting for me in the driveway, running. I intentionally turn it off to make sure it starts again, and surprise, the car doesn't start after it got turned off. The mechanic comes out and states the battery is defective. I said that's the reason I brought it in to begin with! I stand firm to question why they were not able to diagnose a faulty battery. John says "We ran the tests and it shows battery is good. We can't replace the battery if the tests show good! We'll replace the battery, be done with." I said "thank you, yes, we'll be done with." As he's walking away, he continues "... because you're a pain in the a**". (Wow) As they're replacing the battery, John apologizes for the misdiagnosis and tries to explain why it wasn't caught to begin with. He claims the machine that tests for faulty plates in the battery was not used. In my head in thinking... why not, or are you just trying to excuse yourselves? I waited in the waiting room for over an hour in their first test and it took them 5 minutes to tell me it's a defective battery after I was able to prove to them it was bad? This is a simple issue to diagnose. At the end, I'm glad this is over. An average person learns from their own mistakes. A smart person learns from other's mistakes. Don't make the same mistake to bring your car in. Every encounter I've had with John has shown me he will always be nice on the phone, short in person, irritated and dismissing when you question him, and even to go as far as calling someone a pain in the a**. And to talk in that language in front of my 3 year old is even more concerning. read more

I wish I could give this place no stars... My truck was dropped off at 11:30am for a simple oil change & for whatever reason at 3pm the truck Hadn't been worked on. So this place took SEVEN HOURS to do an oil change on my truck with oil that wasn't requested!!!! I came in super upset when I saw my $87 bill for a simple oil change. Save your money and the headache You might as well go to the dealership at least they have a free shuttle service and you know you will be there all day. Also, I want to add that a pond arrival to pick up my truck my drive side door was wide open unattended with no employee in sight. This place has no respect for its customers property. I have taken my volvo s60R here for a couple years (before they changed their name from Swedish Asian Auto Service) and wish I had wised up sooner. My boyfriend and his family used to come here too, until they also realized they were being hosed. Between us we have quite a few examples of this shop's lack of integrity, but I'll just cite my most recent experience that made me realize my suspicions were right from the start. I brought my car in with a broken AC, and was quoted $520 to fix the climate control sensor, and $850 to replace the engine cooling fan. Having dumped thousands of dollars into the car at this shop, I figured it was best at this point to sell the car and get something easier and cheaper to maintain. I left the country for a couple months and intended to sell it as soon as I returned home. In my absence, my mother met with a forensic auto specialist who suggested that we take my car to another shop. When I came back, I took it into the place he referred us to and left with my AC running for about $180 (the issue was a couple of broken valves leaking freon), while this shop quoted me over $1300 and failed to even mention the faulty valves that were actually causing the problem. When I replaced my car's shocks (the first job that I had them do), they did a great job and replaced one for free when it went out a couple months later, which I really appreciated. But if you are clueless as to why your car is giving you trouble, they may take advantage of you like they did with me, despite the fact that I was a loyal customer. read more
