    Subject: Formal Complaint - Unauthorized Repairs, Lack of Transparency, and Coercive Practices - Tustin Toyota To: Tustin Toyota Management / Toyota Corporate Customer Relations Date: April 28, 2026 Regarding: Tim Rau (Assistant Manager) & Bobby Ramirez (Service Manager) - Unauthorized charges totaling $577.08 on 2012 Toyota Sienna. To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the deceptive service communication and blatant lack of transparency I experienced at Tustin Toyota on April28, 2026. This incident specifically involves Tim Rau (Assistant Manager) and Bobby Ramirez (Service Manager). I have been a loyal Tustin Toyota customer since 2012. Our family purchased a 2012 Toyota Sienna van and a 2013 Toyota Highlander from your dealership. For over a decade, we have brought both vehicles to your service center regularly for oil changes and maintenance. I have consistently worked with Eric Paulsen, a service advisor who was always professional and transparent. (I later learned that Eric may no longer be with Tustin Toyota, which is unfortunate given the stark contrast in service quality today.) Incident Summary: On the day of my appointment, I arrived at approximately 09:45 AM for a scheduled oil change only, a service covered under my prepaid extended Toyota Care program. This time, I worked with Tim Rau. Upon check-in, I clearly stated that I was there for an oil change only. Mr. Rau proceeded to list recommended repairs for my 2012 Sienna. I acknowledged awareness of these issues but never agreed to have any of them performed that day. At 1351, I received a text that my vehicle was ready. When I went to the cashier counter, I was shocked to be told that I owed $577.08 before I could take my van. When I questioned Mr. Rau, he claimed I had authorized all the repairs - which was absolutely false. I asked to speak with his manager, Bobby Ramirez. Mr. Ramirez immediately sided with Mr. Rau, stating that my signature on a document meant I had approved all repairs. I tried repeatedly to explain: My signature was for the oil change authorization only, NOT for hundreds of dollars of additional work that I never requested or approved. Mr. Ramirez disregarded my explanation. Most Troubling Actions by Mr. Ramirez: · Threatened to keep my van if I did not pay the full $577.08. · When I insisted I could not pay for unauthorized repairs, he offered a 50% discount ($288.50), but only if I applied for a credit plan through Sunbit, implying I could not afford the full amount. · I am on a tight budget supporting young children. Being pressured into a financing plan for work I never authorized is not only unethical , it is predatory. Police Involvement: Because I felt that my vehicle was being unlawfully withheld and that the situation bordered on coercion, I called the non-emergency Tustin Police Department at 1324, while still at the dealership. The responding officer listened to my experience and informed me that this was a civil dispute over unauthorized repairs and payment. The officer did not intervene and recommended that I pursue this matter as a civil complaint, which I am now formally doing through this letter and, if necessary, legal channels. Why This Matters: I am not writing solely for a refund. I am writing because loyal customers deserve transparency. I have trusted Tustin Toyota with our family's vehicles for over 10 years. Today, I was treated like a source of revenue to be manipulated - not a customer to be respected. Customers should be warned: · Read everything you sign - even for a routine oil change. · Ask for a copy of your signed agreement upfront. · Be aware that a signature for one service may be misrepresented as approval for others. I have all documents on file and can provide them upon request. Requested Actions: 1. Investigate the service practices of Tim Rau and Bobby Ramirez regarding unauthorized repairs and coercive payment tactics. 2. Review the signed authorization to confirm that I never approved the $577.08 in repairs. 3. Provide a written response addressing how Tustin Toyota will prevent this from happening to other customers. 4. Escalate this matter to Toyota Corporate for review. I am sharing this complaint publicly so that other customers - new and loyal alike - can make informed decisions.     I always request Jordan Ghaffari whenever I bring my car in for service, and once again, he did not disappoint. I've been coming here for months, and my most recent visit was just as smooth and professional as ever. He's incredibly knowledgeable, efficient, and always gets everything done in a timely manner. Jordan is professional yet friendly, and he truly makes the whole process stress-free. I completely trust him with my car every single time. The dealership itself continues to make waiting easy and comfortable. They offer complimentary coffee and tea, the waiting area is always clean and spacious, and if you're there for a longer service, there's even a Subway on site. As a parent, I especially appreciate the kid-friendly section where my toddler can play -- it really makes such a difference during longer appointments. Still a 5-star experience all around!

    Tustin Toyota will always be a little extra special for me, as it's where I bought my Prius! And I love my little Prius-that-could. The sale negotiation was reasonable, and I secured what felt like a great deal at the time. Since then, it's been relatively positive with maintenance and service experience. The service folks are always happy to explain, negotiate deals, and provide a break down of issues. They've got reasonable packages and pricing on most service items, and there's the comfort of knowing the source of materials is directly from Toyota. Scheduling is also easily done on online or via phone call. To top this off, sometimes you even receive considerate treatment when an issue comes up. For example, my gas had completely run out after maintenance for some reason, and when I pointed it out, the staff went to fill the gas tank - and they actually filled it quite a bit! Tustin Toyota has provided me with years of reliable purchase and service/maintenance experience. I am grateful to have a reliable and consistent place to support my aging little Prius

    My girlfriend and I spent a whole day dealership hopping until we finally made our last stop at Toyota Tustin. The team there was super helpful and gave us a great deal for a basically new 2023 Toyota Corolla!     Just want to start off by saying if you ever have any hesitation in getting a new truck from Toyota , get it it was so worth it .     Purchased a remanufactured alternator from Tustin Toyota since it was the cheapest in the area and the original lasted 200k+ miles so I figured I should just stick with Toyota/Denso. The Toyota parts website makes it easy to order the correct part. The prices are also very reasonable. It ended up being slightly more expensive than Rockauto for the same part but with faster availability. When I put it in I knew it was defective out of the box because the battery light was dimly lit while running whereas it was not before. The voltage checked out OK but I was skeptical. I asked them if there was a warranty and they told me Toyota parts are covered for 1 year. I figured I might as well use it until it broke. 1 month later the alternator failed to charge my battery and left me stranded. I inquired about a warranty exchange, told them my symptoms and VIN number, and after some back and forth they agreed to replace the alternator under warranty. They let me know when the part was ready. All I had to do was to give them the defective part and they handed me the warranty replacement. I just put it in and viola, no more battery light.

    Got a fully loaded maintenance a week-ish ago at Tustin Toyota, and conveniently ended up with a NAIL in my newest TRD back wheel, did not notice it until my toddler pointed it out (bc it was shiny). Can't tell if I got it before/after, the crew missed it, or it was within the Toyota premises since we don't drive my 4Runner as often nowadays since getting an EV. This TRD wheel is new-ish too, either bad luck, coincidence or I conveniently just got it during the same time I got my 4Runner under maintenance.

    I've been coming to the dealership for years when my cars need any type of service. The location is very nice and the building itself is always clean and well kept. The service members are extremely nice and always very helpful. However, their pricing is through the roof. A lot more than I believe is fair for the type of work that it needs to get done for the job. They do offer a complementary shuttle service to get you back home however it is always very backed up and can take over an hour just to get you on. I think they would highly benefit from getting more shuttle drivers for their peak hours, but it is still very nice of them to offer this service.

    Made several great purchases at Tustin Toyota. Sales Manager Edwin Lugo, took very good care of me, providing me with a good deal and adding many perks to the deal. If you ever need a car, go to Edwin Lugo.
