I came here to line dance on a Thursday night. I was well taken care of. Once line dancing was finished, Mike took very good care of me at the main bar. He was amenable to me joking about a RI accent and introducing me to locals to chat with. The owner also came in and chatted with me. I love this place! I visited on a Monday after work, so it had that "regulars at the bar" vibe going. The bartender was so incredibly attentive and treated us like royalty. Many times, you go to a bar with lots of regulars and the bartender seems like they can't be bothered. This alone made me want to come back. Now, I had a variety of wings, which were all delicious and perfectly constructed. HOWEVER. I can say right now, as a person who loves her wings and has tried them in many ways, the PB&J wings here are the BEST BEST BEST. Hands down. Can't be beat. Try to convince me otherwise! The peanut sauce on the wing was superb, and they served the seemingly homemade compote on the side so that YOU can control the ratio. OMG. Perfection. On Mondays, you can get 35 cent wings... It took me my second stop in here to finally realize it's the old Corner Pockets! Located on a very busy intersection in Johnston (Hartford Ave. & Atwood Ave.) this place is perfect for after work drinks and apps. They have specials throughout the week, both menu and event - there is country line dancing on Tuesday nights and the place packs out. The ambience is pretty contemporary with the blue lighting and black decor. The bartenders are very friendly and there's even a spinny wheel to win things such as free drinks or appetizers. The food is pretty good too, definitely get the Ave fries as they have garlic and Parmesan as well as a bit of a kick to them. The flat breads are great as they don't feel as heavy as pizza, and I love the wings - the maple ones are my favorite. Definitely make sure to check this place out if you are looking for a bar / hangout spot especially after work. read more

A Little Strange This used to just be a pool hall. Now it's a restaurant/bar with pool tables. First impression is that ourselves and anyone else that arrived were not greeted with any kind of welcome. What looked to be manager/owner would basically look at people entering, some of which looked confused where to sit, and he would just walk away. We sit at the bar. The bar area is extremely dark for early afternoon. This is strange because the dining area was closed, so if you want to go in for lunch you either have to sit at this large dark bar or in the dimly lit back area near pool tables. So I can see why some of the people coming in were confused. So, we order a simple turkey club and couple of beers. The bartender was very nice and got us a couple of rounds in a row very quickly. No complaints. Here comes the big problem, our sandwich with fries took almost 40 minutes to come out. Once again the owner/manager right there and he says nothing. You'd at least like to hear within 30 minutes that the order was coming out soon? Nothing. The sandwich itself when it finally arrived was actually very good. The place has pretty good specials all week on food and drinks and what we got served was pretty good so the potential is there. I guess they may just need to work a few things out. Thanks read more

Great new spot in Johnston. My wife got the chicken parmigiana, it was huge. I tasted some very good, with a great sauce. Perfect chicken/sauce/cheese combination. For me it was the Veal Osso Busso special served over rice. It has good flavor and was served with a fork to pick out the marrow. Both meals came with either a soup or salad. I got the soup, which was definitely made fresh. We were to full for dessert, but they do advertise an in house pastry chef! We will be back. read more

If I could leave a negative 10 stars I would. Worse thing I have ever experienced in my life. Owner came out and tried to FIGHT my brother because he threw up in the bathroom. I am appalled I didn't know whether to go home or go to the Johnston police station. Lucky for me, my cousin is a Johnston police officer and told me how to handle the situation. I have never in my life experienced anything like this in my 30 years of life. My brother completely was minding his business went in the bathroom and threw up (in the toilet) but because the toilet was then clogged (not purposely) but on accident. My brother was sitting at the table very calm after he got SICK in the bathroom, and the owner came over trying to literally FIGHT him. I am at a lost for words. Completely unbelievable, this place will be closed within a month. read more

Finally stopped in and we were not thrilled with our experience. The waitresses were inattentive and busy on thier phones, it was not busy at all so its understandable, but at least still attend to your only customers. We walked in and right away were seated by the hostess. We arrived early since it was our first night away from our newborn. Meal started out great with fresh house made chips and salsa. Friday nights special is fish and chips, have to come back for that. The waitress said it's very popular, made fresh every Friday. We heard the chicken Parmesan was good so we both got that. Good healthy portion of chicken and pasta with homemade fresh sauce. Just the right amount of breading. They have a pastry chef in the back so we had to try a dessert- large selection! Terrible! Waited almost a hour for cheese ravioli, and steak tips. The ravioli was tasteless and bland. Better off getting Venda in the frozen section. Steak tips were fatty and way past medium. Swimming in some funky flavored sauce. No one checked in to see if everything was okay. Female bartenders were good. Male bartender was only attentive to his friends tables. New favorite hang out!! We walked in, sat ourselves by the pool area and was immediately asked what we wanted for drinks. Our waitress kept checking in through out the night and she did AWESOME following us around (we kept moving between the pool area and where they were doing karaoke). NOT A RESTAURANT, it's a noisy pool hall. Don't bother just go to Atwood Grill or Luigi's. The owner Bob aka Bobby Lombardo has given himself two positive reviews what does that tell you. Having been a bunch of times with friends to try it out here's the skinny. The portions are very small, food is inconsistent in that a given dish is fair one time and lousy the next. This is what happens when a rich guys wife is told her cooking is amazing. The owners basically opened this up to turn the wife's hobby into a restaurant, she went to pastry school. Bob was given control of his fathers company and the wife has a state job $$$$$. Why does this matter ? because the restaurant is a part time gig to make vacation money. Restaurants are best when the owners are full time restaurateurs and they have a professional Chef. Bobs wife cooking in the kitchen at night after working all day, really really shows ! Hire a professional Chef at whatever that costs and maybe maybe then it has a chance. I won't ever go back is my opinion, better food, service, portions right down the road at Atwood Grill and Luigi's. PS: Restaurants don't have a dozen pool tables and loud music.
