The food was great.we ordered chicken enchiladas, chicken fajitas, and Flan .. although couple of things were disappointing ..first of all tortilla chips were served for every table except us. Our lunch came and only after asking about chips, we got it. Supposedly they forgot, alright no biggie. We got the check total was $27 and some change..guess what was the tax amount (only tax) ???????$6 and some change.......6.25% is the MA tax on meals We were surprised and indicated tax is incorrect . They replied tax + tips were added to the bill for 3 of us in the group . Even for 6+ people mandatory tip is called out separately as 18% tip. They were clearly trying to sneak in extra money in the name of tax which is just disappointing..we have been to lot many restaurants and have never seen this kind of act.. So please WATCH OUT everything on the receipt, whether all the items are charged properly, including TAX. read more

Yes!!!!! Go!!!! Went on cinco de mayo...such friendly servers and great atmosphere. Food is properly priced and the portions are very large! We had the guacamole, tacos, and chicken quesadilla. This place is an incredible Mexican restaurant. Its only down side is that it sits right next to the worst part of town, on the plus side I can watch my car right from my seat. But to the food I have been here multiple times and the food has always been good and has never let me down. I did try their buffalo chicken quesadilla the other day it made for some very interesting Mexican/America fusion not quite sure how I feel about the mix still but it wasn't bad. read more

Husband and I LOVED our experience last night!! We started with the chili fries appetizer - crinkle fries with meat, cheese, yummy sauce and jalapeños on top - and they were incredible!! For dinner I had a combo meal with chicken taquitos, a beef enchilada, rice, and beans. My husband got the supreme burrito, which was a special for last night. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals - they were full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Their guacamole was to die for! It's a creamy guac, which was different than any guacamole I've ever had, and it was delicious!! Solid Tex-Mex food that is a little more authentic than what you get served at the average sit down Mexican restaurant in Massachusetts. The chips and salsa are quite good, the salsa even has a little kick to it. I had the pork chimichanga, which came with a spicy chipotle sauce. If you aren't a spice fiend like me, this would probably be enough heat, but I would have enjoyed it a little hotter. The pork filling was nice and juicy without making the whole thing soggy. I generally don't like rice and beans at Mexican places, but the Aztec's were actually edible. In the summer, there is a nice little seating area in the parking lot. read more

Craving mexican I thought I would give The Aztec a try. It's a tiny little place just outside of downtown Framingham. They have a small outdoor patio (really a tent in the parking lot) however we chose to eat inside. The inside is colorful and festive. The seats are all carved and painted in bright colors and they have mexican music playing in the background. The chips and salsa are freshly made and very tasty. I ordered the Steak Fajitas. They smelled amazing but there was way too many peppers and no where near enough onions for me. The steak was a bit over cooked and cut up into tiny strips that made them a little chewey. You could tell it wasnt very high quality steak. My buddy had the chicken fajitas and similarly there was too many peppers and not enough onions but the seasoned chicken was delicious. read more

I'm surprised how many reviewers are impressed here. To be fair thought I don't think Mexican food in Mass is all that great in general. I find this place overpriced for what you get. Quality is decent. Ambiance is dive-y at best. The few times I've been there there have been a bunch of little kids running around and screaming while we eat. I find the food to be a bit bland. There are better Mexican places in Framingham like La Carreta IMO. read more

Margarita Coco loco tasted like soap, the refríed beans tasted burnt. I was told the fish for the fish taco was grilled not fried but it was egg washed then dipped in flour. It absolutely had no taste and was not seasoned. Very bland tasting for a Mexican restaurant. We ordered two other items the tostones and the tamales that never came but thankfully the waitress double checked and caught that we never received them. The wait staff was polite, so I rated them 2 star instead of one. read more

Took six kids there hoping to not be grossed out. I am from LA and it's rough finding not awful awful Mexican food in New England. The Aztec was a solid "good enough" and I mean that in a good way. It was definitely more Tex Mex, but still food at plenty of cilantro and peppers and very tasty. My kids loved it, price was right, is it like being in Mexico, no? We love this place. It's the best Mexican food in Framingham and beyond (even my best friend who is actually Mexican said it was good). I'm not the biggest fan of the chips (they feel a little greasy to me) but they are free so I can't complain. The food was good, not excellent though. I recommend fajitas because they stay hot. Downside no beans other than refried beans which are unhealthy. And there is only 1 bathroom. It needed a good cleaning. I went there today. I would recommend this place as a decent take out Mexican restaurant. But very small place to sit and eat. I've driven past this restaurant many times and always meant to try it. Finally tried it with visiting family and it's great! Super colorful and fun decorations and painted chairs and tables make the restaurant feel inviting and cheerful. It's a small restaurant but there's more seating than you think from the outside and enough space between tables. On to the food, which was delicious! I still miss a restaurant in Boston that did Guatemalan food, but this is a close second. Delicious chicken enchiladas with a great sauce and my sister's shrimp tacos looked great. I haven't tried the margaritas but I will next time! And all the waitresses are very sweet and one of them even put my mango jarrito in a to go cup for me. read more

The best in the area. It's a one of a kind place. There are lots of Mexican chain restaurants and to me they're just boring. Here, the food tastes great and place feels authentic. I have not had anything I would not recommend and although I only go there quarterly, the staff remembers us and makes us feel like rguests, not just customers. Just came home after a delicious dinner at the Aztec. The reviewer below commented about how it's dive-y and it is, that's what's so great about it! It's a traditional mom and pop style mexican restraunt with great food, friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. They have outdoor seating where you can lounge all night and only have a couple beers. It's not like most restraunts where they want you in and out. It's very relaxed. A friend and I have been coming here for about four years now, and we will continue to come here for as long as they are open! The outside appearance is very deceiving... I did not expect the food to be as great as it is! It is hot, cheesy, and delicious, and I think the longest I've ever waited for my food is about 15 minutes, if that. Service: Very friendly waitstaff, difficult to get their attention at times though. Food: Average is the word. For appetizers we got something similar to the jalapeno poppers. They were pretty good. The entree items - enchiladas, tamales, salads - were pretty average. Their hot sauce - the green sauce that's in the bottle - was the best part. It was spicy and delicious. Horrible experience. Fajitas were flavorless I couldn't eat it and server never came back. There was only one table other than us in the restaurant and it was obviously family and the server couldn't be bothered with us. My so ate his chicken from his tacos but hated his tortillas. I love LOVE the pork chimichanga (served with the spicy chipotle sauce). However-- and this is a BIG however-- the lunch serving tends to be terrible. It's always like it's leftover from the night before! The chimichanga at lunch is soggy, and despite the menu stating it comes with the chipotle sauce, at lunch, they don't always have it. When they do, it tastes burnt. Lunch takeout is served with chips and salsa, but the chips aren't always fresh, either. Don't go for lunch. At dinner, the product turns much more quickly, and the chimichanga is usually (though not always) fresh, the chipotle sauce spicy, and the chips freshly fried. This place is pretty fantastic when it comes to their selection of food and the taste of it. I've been here a lot and it's always been close to amazing when it comes to food quality, and I really do enjoy their burritos and the other dishes that they offer, especially their tamales and carne asadas! All in all, it's a great place and the staff is generally quick, but this is less consistent than their food offerings. Inside is colorful but it can get a bit loud when packed due to the small space (but this isn't really the fault of the owners). First time I dined at the Aztec was in May of 2019. I ordered a steak fajita salad and was completely disappointed with the dish. The cuts of streak were very thin and it didn't have much meat in the bowl. Also the salad consisted mostly of lettuce. I decided to give it another try tonight, but ordered it through Grub Hub. Once again I was disappointed. This time a ordered the loaded tostones that came with rice and beans. The picture on the menu showed a beautiful presentation, but what I received was a sloppy mess between the main course, rice and beans all smashed together. The rice also had a strange taste to it. I can't quite put my finger on what it tasted like, but its definitely not what Mexican rice normally taste like. Lastly I ordered a side of guacamole that cost $3.00 and didn't receive it with my order. To be completely honest I don't understand how this place is still in business, especially after reading all the other poor reviews. read more

Mediocre Margaritas is unforgivable for any Mexican Restaurant, but soggy Chile Rellenos, watery beans, small portions, and poor service doom the truck-stop style Aztec. Not that there are many better choices outside 128, this just isn't a place I would drop $60 for two people with a couple forgettable margaritas (including strawberry without the strawberry flavor). I will give them props for attempting several traditional meals, but the staples must make their mark and they do not come close. read more
