So we stopped in to try this place out for some dinner. We got the BBQ sampler and a pulled pork sandwich and a few drinks. The food was good, the drinks where strong and the service was alright. The downside of sitting outside was the very annoying stubborn flys that wanted to help us eat our dinner. I would recommend sitting inside. read more

Much improved since first week of opening!! Upon ordering the Pulled Pork Plate (w/ half Brisket) & 2 sides: Side Salad & Fries, the dish was absolutely delicious. Well seasoned meat, good size side salad, and a healthy portion of crispy fries. I was excited to try the brisket (as they had run out quickly during their first week) and it was great. Though, it wasn't in whole slices like I had anticipated, the flavor was definitely there. The pulled pork was also great too, you can't go wrong with that. I can't stress enough how great service can affect a meal. During my first dining experience, the server was nowhere to be found, and I mean the entire time the food took over 30 min to drop and it sure wasn't amazing. However, this time around, my server Leslie was absolutely fantastic. She made my experience exceptional, allowed me to try the beer cheese first, and constantly checked on me to make sure I was happy with the meal. Though their first week was clearly a trial run..they have much improved their service, food and even the atmosphere feels completely different. At the end of the day.. If you visited this place upon their first week of opening, they absolutely deserve another go around. Well done. read more

We stopped in after Christmas Tree cutting... My job as navigator is also to do Yelp research on finding a new restaurant to try. This place was a hit for both of us!!! We are lighter eaters and had to take most of the Brussels home because the portion size of the sandwich and fries was so large. Food was tasty and hot, service was smiling and friendly, atmosphere was laid back and comfortable. Prices were very reasonable, in fact, I was shocked by the inexpensiveness of the sides and appetizers and loved that they offered half salads. Above all, the restaurant was very clean... leaving the bathroom I saw a bin on the counter near the kitchen that was labelled something like, "menus to be disinfected." Thank you for the great food and experience and for keeping us healthy this holiday season, we'll definitely return! read more

Definitely recommend. Was on the way back from the Folsom Gun Range and stopped in for a bite. Brussels sprouts were on point with some great flavor. The BBQ Mac with Tri-Tip was fantastic, the meat was tender and fell apart nicely. I don't usually do reviews but this one needed it. read more

LOVE the Backyards food! I had the Swiss cheese mushroom burger today with fries. The fries were fresh and hot, as was the burger. The bun was toasted and burger had a nice grilled flavor. Their chili is delicious and their patty melt too. We'll be eating there more often for sure. read more

I visit my folks in Rancho Murrieta often and they don't have much for restaurants. Super happy the old Chinese restaurant was taken over by The Backyard! With many younger residents in this area now there aren't a lot of options for casual dining unless you count the Burger King attached to the gas station. There is a great restaurant inside the hotel called "The Gate", but is is higher end food and prices. The Backyard offers BBQ, Sandwiches, Salads and a great selection of beers on tap. The service is wonderful and the food is reasonable and delicious. You can get a giant baked potato with all the trimmings with pulled pork on top as well. I had the pulled pork platter that came with two sides and a roll for $16. I took home half of the meal and I pride myself on being able to clear my plate! It's a really nice establishment and we will definitely be back! read more

1 star 'cuz I can't give ZERO. I was forced to order online because they wouldn't answer the phone. Spouse & friend went to pick up the order & were repeatedly ignored by multiple staff. It was noticed that my part of our order was missing, but it appeared that they weren't going to bring it to our attention at all, & eventually claimed they hadn't received that product in their order. Female server got snippy w/ my spouse; owner(?) claimed he had called Re: missing product. So, let's see - it's ok for THEM NOT to answer the phone, but not ME when I don't recognize the #. And I couldn't call back 'cuz they won't answer the phone. So now I have to wait 3-4 days for a refund to my CC. They should have also refunded part or all of the percentage based tip. read more

Stopped by The Backyard tonight for a drink and bite out; the food is delicious, but the staff member Arianna was the one who made the night great. Our orders were taking a while to come out, but Arianna was quick to apologize and let us know the situation. I wanted to make sure I posted since I saw another party there that was being very rude and aggressive towards her and threatened to write a bad review. I know the staff was slammed that night and was doing their best so thank you Arianna and the other staff for being awesome and working your butts off! We were nearby for a little league and stopped by for dinner after. The food was amazing! We split the trio bbq plate with chicken, tri tip and pulled pork with three sides and it was more than enough food for two. The pretzel sticks were also a great appetizer. Came on a Saturday evening with two of my kids. There was a 15 minute wait with open tables but I overheard the servers were short staffed. We were seated near the bar and the service was great. The kids meal of burger patty was bland but he ate the fries. My oldest had the ribs meal which said were good except the Mac n cheese wasn't to his liking. I ate the tri tip sandwich was great and enjoyed the fries. I am willing to come back again at a less busy time to try other things. read more

I've been here once. The staff was great, very friendly. The bbq was fantastic! Everyone else in my group has been here multiple times. They love the place! It was a little too dark in the main dining area, per my experience. However, it's very hot during the summer out here in the foothills... Tons of TVs with all the sports! You gotta try the brisket!
