Corned beef hash & scrambled eggs
    Amy M.

Despite living in town for more than 30 years, this is only our second visit. We weren't impressed the first time, especially with the bacon, but we needed to eat today and figured it was time to try this place . Good move! We still don't care for the bacon! It's cooked FLAT and crispy. I suppose we could have ordered it a different way, but this was the default. We avoided omelettes because the pictures on the menu make it look like they're cooked on a griddle and that's not our preference. Over easy eggs were cooked perfectly. Scrambled or overcooked. Canned corn beef hash was delightful, potato cakes, and toast are good. Server was lovely. Prices aren't bad; probably a bit less than Poor Boys, our favorite.

Always a good time at the bacon barn! Came here on a Saturday and had about a 30 min wait which isn't bad and they have a hot coffee station outside so you can stay warm or grab a cup and enjoy it while you wait for their call in your vehicle. Once called we walked in and were seated immediately. My daughter ordered the poe the pig which is a pancake with some fresh fruits, whipped creams and 2 slices of bacon. She really liked the pancake and of course loves their bacon here. I ordered my usual which is the Pigs in the Mud. You get 3 eggs, choice of a side but I always order the potatoes that are like tater tots but flat lol. They are soo good and love them better than hash browns. Let's not forget the sausage patties on top grilled biscuits with some sausage gravy on top. The dish is well put together and it's my favorite since I'm a sucker for biscuits and gravy lol. The ambiance is old school barn feel but I'm telling you their food is amazing here and you won't be disappointed in picking anything on their menu. We will definitely be back again.

    Peach Cobbler French Toast *Special*

Absolutely AMAZING!!! My husband and I were recommended the Bacon Barn by a coworker of mine and we were floored by how outstanding the food was. From the selection of different bacons to the variety of cooking styles we were pleasantly surprised and impressed. I ordered the peach cobbler French toast special and pecan wood smoked bacon while my husband ordered regular French toast and the jalapeño bacon. I have never enjoyed a meal as much as I did this morning. We left nothing behind, everything was out of this world! The service was warm and welcoming as well. Our waiter had a great personality, we overheard a table complaining about prices and our waiter managed to easily calm them and lightened their mood. We can't wait to go back and enjoy another meal in a cozy and homey breakfast spot!

This is a nice little breakfast spot with good service. They do not have an inside waiting area so dont forget your jacket on cold days. But when you wait outside they do offer free hot coffee. There was a bit of a wait (probably because of how good the food is). I ordered the bacon bene which was super delicious. Highly recommend. The hashbrowns and bacon were perfectly crispy (exactly how I like it) and the hollandaise sauce was made to perfection. Only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because seating and food is a bit of a wait. But its worth it!

One of the best breakfast places in New England. They serve typical breakfast foods but seriously so good. The staff is nice, and the booths are clean :)

I've been here many times. Sometimes there is a line to get in but there is a reason for that. You will never be disappointed; from their creative dishes to the friendly employees, you will leave with a full stomach and a smile on your face. It has a small town diner feel to it which is perfect for those early weekend brunch trips with family.

The burger came out looking 10/10, unfortunately the taste missed the mark.

Came at 915 on a Tuesday morning. The restaraunt was clean. The floors were spotless. 3/4 of the tables were full and we were seated immediately. She took a drink order immediately. I got a bacon burger w/ onion ring on it, ordered "cooked to temp" the waitress didn't know what that meant so I said "medium". My wife got stuffed French toast. The burger came out looking great. Fresh produce piled high. It was cooked medium, but the taste was very underwhelming. Zero seasoning. I added salt...to a bacon cheeseburger. Oh boy. The fries were good and crispy but again...zero salt, zero seasoning. I asked for a side of blue cheese, they didn't have it. I asked for malt vinegar they didn't have it. I asked for ranch, she said ok but it never ended up making its way to the table. The stuffed French toast (Carmel and banana) came out alone on a plate. The wife said "overall I thought it was good". She regretted not ordering strawberries with it, she said it lacked a depth. It was very ALL caramel and banana. And we felt that the serving (pictured) was small for $12. Just look at the picture it says 1000 words. Overall probably not going back to the Bacon Barn. Very under-seasoned food all around, not having blue cheese (admittedly understandable for a breakfast place), and forgetting my ranch are the three straws to break the camels back.

They used my love of food trucks to design a custom menu (self-serve food stations featuring: nachos, tacos, ramen & slider "bars") as well as serving mini crab cakes & lobster rolls (CHUNKS of lobster meat & claw) with a beautiful, bountiful "grazing" table (tons of cheese, fruit, veggies, hummus, house-made potato chips & dip)...all of this being entirely fun, casual & modern but decorated & set up so classy & beautiful to fit in with my "rustic elegant" barn theme. Our favors/place settings for guests were individually wrapped caramel apples tied with little ribbons and people were going nuts at how cool of an idea it was (also Stacy & Jason's idea!) The food was incredible. There were NO leftovers from dinner & only a small amount of apps left over because we over-ordered on purpose for a nice midnight snack ;] There were extra apples & I took most of them & plan on eating one a day for the next few days. All of our guests were blown away, had fun, complimented the food and Stacy, Jason & their staff's professionalism & hospitality. They even helped store & serve the dessert from the bakery I run (not their own product but they understood how important this element was to me). Stacy is incredibly responsive with all emails/the business end of things & to ICE THE CAKE, she offered us a decorating service as well! (AMAZING for me, who is aesthetically challenged). I was SPEECHLESS when I walked into our barn and saw the tables decorated with eucalyptus leaves, pumpkins, gourds, floating candles and an absolutely gorgeous sweetheart table. I'm still reliving the memories from yesterday and Stacy & Jason were a HUGE part of one of the most important days of my life & I could not have asked for a better caterer & decorator. I wish I could give them 100 stars instead of 5. They are worth every penny, do it, do it, do it. It was PERFECT.

Outside, it looks nothing like the classic New England train car style or New Jersey stainless steel style diners, but inside are countertop with stools, booths around the outskirts, and the hustle and bustle giving it a strong diner vibe. Like my visits to many diners, I was here on my patty melt quest. -- Patty Melt: First, the composition is faithful to the prototype, with a quarter pound patty (no smashburger nonsense), rye bread (no sourdough decoy), buttered (not merely toasted), and with the classic Swiss cheese, sautéed onions and thousand Island dressing. No fusion, no reinvention, no omissions, no hipster jive. Good crispness and butteriness on the bread, great melt on the cheese, and noticeable softness to the onions. Most importantly, the beef could be ordered medium rare, and they executed. More softness, with gushing juices and a really pleasing bite. I suspect nothing special to start with, but they cooked it to near perfection. Only quibble would be not much crust to the patty, but not as critical on a patty melt. -- Fries: I could have had tots or a few other options, but fries were fine. Almost certainly frozen, but the skin-on variety and not the dreaded coated kind. Nothing special, but good enough. Service was adequate. It seemed like everyone was prepping to get everything gathered and cleaned for closing about 90 minutes earlier than necessary, but that didn't detract. If anything, it shows initiative and hustle. Not much data to go on, but an easy 4 for me.

Anyways, Crack'd Kitchen totally lives up to its namesake, for every single egg product here utilizes (wait for it).....REAL cracked eggs!! This may seem like a rudimentary feature. But when you take into consideration how many short-order breakfast places rely on liquid or processed egg, things like this are graciously appreciated by those of us with a palate above that of a seven-year-old. So, I had an opportunity to try this place out both to-go and dine-in. Right upfront, I will say the food is far superior when enjoyed dine-in style. Given the distance from my house, I can aptly say we'll be mostly opting for dine-in (unless the dining area is hella crowded). For to-go, I tried the Country Breakfast whilst the dine-in meal was one of their sammiches; The Basic, to be precise. Overall, both were little short of greatness in their own ways. Though, I made a few casual observations. As mentioned earlier, this stuff is way more enjoyable inside the restaurant. Ergo, I probably should have reversed which meal I ordered when. Despite that minor setback, I think I actually liked the Country Breakfast more than the sammich. Whilst the former carries decently well as a to-go plate, the latter could have benefited from some seasoning on the eggs. I guess that's why they also offer sandwiches with various special sauces. Not gonna lie....I am slightly curious about their honey-sriracha sauce. One day I shall be brave enough to fancy it. One other complaint I have about the platter specifically: you only get half as many hashbrowns with the meal. For....some reason. Meanwhile, I ordered a side of hashbrowns with my sandwich and it came with six. I would assume that'd be the standard across the board so....make it make sense? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Btw....I should probably mention the only reason I'm stuck on this point is because the hashbrowns themselves are amazeballs! They don't even need ketchup, but comes with it if you fancy that sort of thing. A few other housekeeping deetz: their gender ambiguous restrooms are located toward the back entrance. There is also complimentary water for folks dining in. So, yeah. We'll certainly be revisiting this place from time to time. Perhaps I'll even try a couple of over-easy eggs at some point. Till then, Crack'd Kitchen and Coffee in Salem gets 4 cracked eggs with bacon and beautifully seasoned hashbrowns out of 5.
