The best breakfast place around! We have become weekly regulars, and the staff know our drink order when we walk in. Always very friendly, everything is clean. The food is spot on, especially the bacon which is cooked to the perfect crispness. The cook does a fantastic job with any style eggs, toast is plentiful with butter and never over toasted, hash is cooked perfectly. Price is the same as everywhere else around. Went here today for the first time. Had breakfast. Heard about it from a friend. My first thoughts in hearing the name of the place was 2) "Oh, man! They must have incredible bacon!!"; and 2) it might be in a barn. Neither is true. Don't let the name fool you. If you go here for bacon, you are going to be very, very dissapointed. It is a very typical, diner-ish type of place with very typical diner-ish breakfast. In fact, I thought it was a below average breakfast. The bacon: C'mon, really? Not good at all. Paper thin, stale (like it had been baked hours before - thats right, I suspect it was baked), and nearly flavorless. Again, BACON IS IN THE NAME OF THE PLACE!!! There is pig paraphernalia and bacon "sayings" on the walls everywhere inside - like they are bacon-lovers. I can forgive it not being a barn, but the bacon thing is just false advertizing. They do have 5 types of bacon - all are thin and average. If they called it the "Breakfast Barn", I would say it was just an average breakfast place. But they make a point of putting the bacon front and center (like it's a specialty) and heightening expectations. I almost hate them for that. The sausage is no better - kinda just below average. I would expect a place called "Bacon Barn" to have really great bacon and sausage. Instead you get below average stuff. There is incredible bacon and sausage available at other restaurants - Riverhouse Cafe in Milford is one of them. Service was good. Place is clean and family friendly. Prices were ok. Menu is extensive. There is no reason to ever go back to the Bacon Barn - its just not good bacon. Or a barn. read more

WOW! Do not get fooled by the on line menu. This place is not as fun as the menu implies. I took the time to learn the terms and when I ordered using their specific terminology for certain items I was met with a blank stare. Now to be fair, that blank stare may have been her normal expression, but our server was definitely phoning it in. No personality and absolutely no knowledge of the menu. The place itself is a dump. From the well worn flooring to the dirty walls and the seating that has seen more butts than Gillette Stadium, this "restaurant" needs HELP! It is definitely time to remodel and update. The good news is that it has gender neutral bathroom. Bathroom! As in a single bathroom for everyone. This would be forgivable if it weren't for the fact that it was so dirty that I immediately checked to see if all my vaccinations were up to date upon leaving. I can only wonder how bad the kitchen must be if you can't keep a single bathroom clean. We were met by a hostess whose ability to make eye contact, or even look in our general direction, was severely limited. She spoke softly while looking away so we basically guessed at what she wanted. We looked at the 5 empty booths and figured that we would be next. Especially since the part we did hear was, "you will be next." Turns out, next, is relative because apparently one of the things she mumbled was that we had to wait outside and she would call us. Now...she did ask for my phone number, but never bothered to tell me it was to call me for when my table was ready. Something that would be good to know since I rarely bring my phone into a restaurant. However, we did figure it out and were eventually seated "next," right after 4 other parties. Next and 4 other groups ahead of me are two totally separate things to me, but who knows...it was only 20 minutes. We sat down and while we were trying to figure out which hole in the seat we should allow our butts to settle into, the first waitress showed up to take our drink order. There were only 2 so it was easy. Until she showed back up with the wrong ones and then proceeded to ask me, "are you sure," when I told her that I did not order orange juice. I was sure, but she still tried to add it to the bill later along with the correct drink. OBTW: Orange Juice and Pepsi do not sound anything alike! The food is mediocre at best. BACON!!! The word is literally in the name of your restaurant. No! I did not get the flavored bacon I ordered, No! I did not get to choose how I wanted it cooked. It was cold, thin and obviously cooked about 4-5 hours earlier. It was so bad that it fell apart on the side plate. What an absolute waste of perfectly good pork belly. At best, it was layout bacon intended for institutional use. It lacked any sense of flavor and it was obvious that there is no pride what-so-ever in the product they serve. The ham and cheese omelette was good. But, now we get back to have bacon in the name. You serve pig products. The ham should not be thinly sliced boiled ham from the deli counter of the local supermarket. This thing was a vomit inducing collection of kitchen garbage not fit to serve. The only flavor was in the enormous amount of cheese melted throughout and most of that was salt. Give me a break. You actually use the words, "slab of our hog steak," on your menu to describe another dish and yet you serve a pre-packed, pre-sliced chemical concoction of ham flavored gelatin in your omelettes? What a disappointment. Change the verbiage of your on-line menu. You are misleading people. The food sucks; it tastes like it is supplied by a Sysco truck full of expired products! Unmotivated, unfriendly waitress. Brought out coffee and menus but no silverware. I had to ask twice for cream, and she brought us silverware in a basket that we had to set the table with. Stumbled upon this place during a bike ride with friends. Meh- just ok. Busy morning- Memorial Day Sunday. Wait not too bad about 35 minutes. Corned Beef & Cheese omelette for me with hash browns. Tasted like canned corned beef hash & frozen hash browns. Nothing to write home about. Hubs had the Fast Eddy which had maple bacon- it was fine. As we were on our bicycles we did ask for the server to fill our bottles- was told they couldn't for sanitary reasons, so we all ordered water and filled our bottles ourselves. The Bacon Barn opened this week in the former Route 28 Roadhouse in North Londonderry. Poe The Pig is the mascot! This breakfast and lunch restaurant (formerly known as Friends Diner) relocated from its other location in Allenstown (part of my commute). The restaurant itself is very casual which offers full service dining and takeout. The dining room has tables, booths, and counter seating, flatscreenTV, and black & white checker pattern floors. Free WiFi is offered here (with password). The Bacon Barn serves up both breakfast and lunch menus all day. The breakfast offerings include egg dishes, bennys, omelettes, pancakes, French toast, waffles, peanut butter cup waffles, corned beef hash, sausage gravy & biscuits, and breakfast sides. Most breakfasts $5.25-$8.99. The lunch offerings include sandwiches, wraps, burgers, hot dogs, salads, soups, entrees (haddock, country fried steak, steak tips, chicken), and lunch sides. Most lunches $8.25-$12.99. Kids menu available and daily specials are offered here. I stopped here for breakfast recently so I could update "Friends Diner" now called The Bacon Barn at its new digs. I was able to seat myself and the waitress arrived promptly with menu and offered coffee ($1.75), which was good. For breakfast, I ordered the Barnyard Omelette ($8.99), which had onions, green peppers, mushrooms (preserved), deli ham, & lots of American cheese folded with thin sheets of egg (the tomatoes were missing). The hash browns were very good, which consisted of shredded potatoes grilled nice and crisp on the outside. The wheat toast was buttered, Smuckers preserves on the table. Overall, the food tasted and was very fillings. The service was very prompt and my food was served in under 10 minutes with a half full dining room. I had a Denver omelette and pan fries. Both were great. May sound odd but excellent distribution of cheese in the omelette...cheese in every bite! Pan fries are on the grill which I think are way better than deep fried. Very crispy and great seasoning. Would give 5 stars but I'm not a fan of the coffee. It's too bitter. read more

Omg no syrup or butter needed it's perfect you must must must Try it!!!! I had the barnyard omelette it was good but I noticed the veggies were not fresh the mushroom did not look fresh cut maybe canned? Idk but it was good. We were in town for the weekend and breakfast is one of our favorite meals to go out for. This place popped up on my Google search and the menu looked like exactly what we were looking for. A nice little diner with a family atmosphere and an apparent love for pigs, my fave. The food was phenomena, the bacon was thick and cooked to perfection with excellent flavor. After ordering the kind of bacon you want, then they ask you how you want it cooked. Pro Move on the part of The Bacon Barn. The staff is attentive, while not being obtrusive. Even when it is busy, they don't try to rush you out the door. Finally, their ventilation system could have only been developed in The Matrix. Fear not that your clothes will stink of bacon or anything else when you leave. The first thing that I noticed when I went there, the first time, was that it didn't smell like anything at all. I do recommend the bacon sampler, but in my opinion they make their bacon too crispy so I would suggest ordering your bacon "medium" if you don't like brittle-crumble-in-your-hand bacon. This has got to be my favorite restaurant to get breakfast. It's become such a staple in my life that I end up there at least once a week. I love the country fries which are basically deep fried potato chunks. Their pan fries can be substituted for an additional charge and are very good as well. These are basically seasoned home fries grilled like you would likely expect. The bacon is delicious. They have several different varieties that are all great. My favorite is the jalapeno bacon. Phenomenal. It's always cooked to that perfect crisp and just tastes amazing. Three prices are extremely reasonable and the service is good. There is also a good rewards program for frequent diners. As likely expected, wait times during peak periods can get lengthy. I don't think I've ever personally seen over 30 minutes, though. Even still, it's well worth the wait in my book. read more

I've enjoyed going to Bacon Barn in the past but my latest experience with them leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth. Ordered a pickup order that was missing multiple items and had other items that were barely edible. I can understand having one bad experience but in my attempt to contact them to refund me the items I did not receive, I've been unable to get a hold of anyone there. I've called multiple days and left multiple voicemails. You know this place is special when you pull up at 10am on a Wednesday and the parking lot is full. It's busy inside, but not crazy - crazy must be reserved for weekends, because there are a bunch of waiting benches outside. And, with bacon in the name of the restaurant, expectations are high. Wow. Got the pig trough - 4 eggs, 3 bacon, 3 sausage links, thick ham steak probably 10oz, crispy country potatoes, and Texas toast. Whew. But that's why I'm having breakfast at 10am. I know some of their secrets - the eggs have a thick, really rich yolk. I found these once at an Amish stand, brown free-range eggs from chickens who were fed corn meal. Get the peppered bacon - thick, chewy, edges crusted with peppercorns, probably cooked low-and-slow in the oven to get them cooked so perfectly. Crispy country fries- diced, seasoned potatoes. Don't you dare put ketchup or catsup on them. Maybe country gravy - I failed to order it - but I ate them one-by-one. Not greasy at all. Again, perfect. I wisely ordered Texas toast to go with the ham steak, though. It's got a praline glaze on it that makes it taste like Christmas ham. Are you getting the sense that the owner is a genius?? I had 3 lean sausage links. They were from a butcher not a mass-producer. It's the only way to get the quality and bite in a sausage. I want to try the kielbasa next time. Nice, attentive waitress. Today, I made a special trip to the Bacon Barn. There was a 20 minute wait, no big deal. We understand it is busy on Saturday mornings. I noticed 2 counter seats open from the moment we arrived, but we were are party of 3. We preferred a table, but open to the counter in the interest of time. One person left the counter and 3 seats were available. I approached the hostess stand and asked if we could take the 3 available seats at the counter. She told me, "we need to offer to people ahead of you on the list." That is reasonable. There were 2 other parties waiting and both were parties of 2. I said to the hostess, the other people waiting are parties of 2 and those seats have been open since I arrived. In a snarky tone, she replied that she has to offer those seats to those ahead of us. Again, that's reasonable, but her focus was not on the customer service... it was on the power of her making the call... not me. I walked over to the two other parties and asked "do either of you want to sit at the counter". At this point, the hostess walks over to me and says in a very snide tone, "we have a process to follow". The bottom line is the seats were open and our family of 3 willing to forego a table / booth helps them get people in and out faster. The fact that the hostess was so coy with how she interacted with us is extremely disappointing. We chose to leave and take our business elsewhere. The Bacon Barn is a hidden gem in Londonderry! I'm not much a breakfast food person, but this place hit all the right spots and had me enjoying all kinds of breakfast fare. We went on a Sunday morning in October (I know, this review is really late) a little before 11 am and waited about 15 minutes even though we were quoted 25. The place is small and only has about 4 barstools, but it's completely worth the wait. The bacon sampler is delicious and can be cooked to your liking (soft, medium, crispy, dead). Bacon included in the sampler consist of: Jalapeno bacon, Bourbon bacon, Peppercorn Bacon, and Applewood Bacon. Two slices of each. We enjoyed each flavor! The cinnamon swirl pancakes seem to be a staple and I completely understand why! They are melt-in-your-mouth delicious and the homemade cream cheese drizzle is excellent. Even the cakes and cinnamon swirl are house made. The only reason I took one star off is because our server didn't mention the up-charge for the extra cream cheese drizzle. 95 cents or so would be one thing, but the charge was more than a couple of dollars, maybe even three dollars and some change if I remember correctly, and almost half the cost of the pancakes themselves. Totally worth it, don't get me wrong, but it would be nice to be informed OR to get my money's worth on the extra charge so I could take some home. Banana caramel stuffed french toast was enjoyed by my fiancé and said everything about it was delicious. The toast wasn't soggy, the bananas still had that fresh bite to them and the cream cheese drizzle and powdered sugar topping put it over the edge. They also serve lunch all day and all the lunch items looked mouth-watering. We'll be back in the near future! read more

For a place that promotes bacon (which we love) we expected something along the lines of the Food Channel bacon places; instead bacon was below average and somewhat tasteless. Even bought a couple of bacon air fresheners for cars (2.00 each) which smelled like bacon only if you put it to your nose. You even have to pay extra for real maple syrup (a first for me here in NH). Disappointed but not trying to be nasty. We are locals and hope this place does better. read more
