Bada Bean is one of the local Tallahassee Breakfast staples. Their breakfast food is always very fresh and they make interesting concoctions that you don't normally find at other breakfast spots. On the weekend, parking can sometimes be hard to find, but if you wait for a second something normally opens up. Also, you normally have about a 15-25 minute wait, but the great thing about Bada Bean is they have a self service coffee counter where you can grab a cup of Joe while you wait for your table. They have breakfast specials as well that I always like to try. Some include Baked Blueberry French Toast, Red Velvet Pancakes with cream cheese frosting and a Honey Butter Chicken Sandwich that my friend described as other-worldly. Service can be kind of slow at times and they do have a transition of getting more staff once FSU students they employ graduate or move on, but this is spot to circle on your calendar when you are in Tallahassee for the local flair and delicious food. read more

Tallahassee, FL: Bada bing, bada boom, Bada Bean is the best (say that three times fast). Having been first introduced to this magical place by a fellow Yelper circa 2016, I can say that Bada Bean has continued to be my favorite breakfast place not only in the city but possibly the whole United States. Let me explain. Bada Bean has its quirks. It has a funky name referencing gangsters, kitschy tables with business cards permanently imprinted on them, and new menus filled with more grammatical errors than a first grader's homework assignment (seriously, who forgot to edit these before sending them out?). Parking after 10:30 am is a bit of a task and the weekend lines for this place up the wait time close to an hour. But it's time well waited as Bada Bean has the best dang breakfast food this side of the Mississippi. I've brought everyone and their mother, including my own, to Bada Bean more times than I can count. From the delicious scones (try the Raspberry White Chocolate, you won't regret it), to the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes and the delicious hot chocolate, everything you try at Bada Bean will simply be the best. The one item you cannot miss, though, is the Pablo Gaviria omelet, named after the not so lovely drug lord. Though I don't condone Pablo-the-gangster's infamous hoodlum ways - drugs and violence are bad kids - Pablo-the-omelet holds a dear spot in my heart. A mixture of black beans and tomatoes in a cheesy omelet blended with jalapeño and topped with salsa and sour cream, this resplendent breakfast comes with lightly buttered toast and your choice of side (always go with the home fries people, always). I may be salivating just thinking about this place. Despite its quirks, which really just give Bada Bean a unique Tally flavor not found anywhere else, Bada Bean is simply the ba-ba-best. We came here for brunch on a recent Sunday. Although there was a 45 minute wait, the self-serve coffee really helped make the time go by quicker and more pleasantly. More restaurants should try this! They also serve Lucky Goat coffee which, of course, made it even better. We were seated outside and our waiter was very friendly. The menu is so extensive - I had a hard time choosing! They really do have something for everyone. I ordered the Bird Shot, which was basically eggs served on top of home fries. It was delicious, and just the right amount of food. My significant other ordered an omelet, which also looked delicious. Parking here on a Sunday can be kind of a headache, but the businesses across the street on Richardson St don't appear to be open at that time, so I'm assuming you can park there, too. read more

My hubby and I were visiting my son at FSU today and needed a good place to go for brunch. We found it at Bada Bean! We got delicious omelettes and My son got Cinnamon Roll pancakes which were beyond delicious- even better than advertised. The omelettes were perfectly made. This will be our go to place when we visit FSU. We waited about 20 minutes but the wait was well worth it. The Matthew McConaughey look a like host was very entertaining and easy on the eyes while we waited. Allee, our server was very sweet and attentive to our needs and my husbands gluten free diet. I'm fairly new to Tallahassee and had heard a lot of great things about Bada Bean. My experience, unfortunately, did not live up to the hype. We came on a Saturday as a party of two and were seated quickly, so that was good. However, while everyone else is having their cup of coffee, I typically drink iced tea... but they were out of unsweet iced tea, so I got to drink water. My husband did like the serve yourself coffee bar. I ordered a standard breakfast of eggs, home fries, bacon, and asked that they sub out my toast for tomatoes. What I got was three of the smallest tomato slices I've ever seen... And two of them were off of a green tomato. I would have been embarrassed to serve that as a true substitution. To their credit, I wasn't charged the sub fee of $1. My husband got an omelet, which he seemed to enjoy; however, he commented leaving that the home fries were underwhelming. I was also sitting facing the area where the food comes out and noticed that the servers bus their own tables. They deposit the dirty dishes in a bin on a small shelf directly under the bar where the outgoing food is placed. I'm sure this is health department approved, but it sort of grossed me out. So, not a horrible experience, but nothing that blew me out of the water either. We may be back, but with all of the good breakfast spots in town, it won't be our first choice. read more

Came to Bada Bean with a friend for breakfast when visiting Tallahassee. I was so impressed. I knew it would be a great breakfast after pulling up and seeing a line. They told us it would be a wait but I think we only waited 20 minutes. They also had coffee available for us to grab as we waited so that helped! We were seated and greeted with a friendly server who was very helpful in letting us know what was good, great, and excellent. I decided on the steak skillet which was a newer menu item. I have been to the Bada Bean twice and both times the service was great. The place is packed and very small, though. The one thing I did not like is that you have to get up and get your own coffee. We were a party of 4. Ok. We'll wait. 60 minutes later and we're still waiting w 2 parties ahead of us still. Woosa. The two parties were called and a no answer. Great. The Bada Bean is a great little hole in the wall breakfast place. Everything is very reasonably priced and very tasty! I got the egg breakfast and it came with two eggs grits or home fries and a choice of break or a biscuit. The biscuit was so delicious it was warm and very fresh and I asked for a side of cinnamon butter that was also very good. The service is great and they are very quick. The waiter asked us multiple times if we needed anything and he never let our drinks go below half before he refilled them. He also gave me a Togo cup of sweet tea for free which I thought was very nice. So all in all if you are trying to get a fast, casual, yummy breakfast I highly recommended trying this place! read more

Best brunch we have had to date in Tallahassee! Our waiter he was great! The Savannah was delicious and rich. I kept eating off my partners plate. Coffee was good. I didn't get to try the Bada's blend they were out. Had the Jamaican and Tallahassee blend. The only thing is we were sat by the soda machine in the back. Great, divey place for breakfast, brunch, or lunch! Love the eclectic decor! Got there at a busy 10:30 AM on Sunday morning, so we had a small wait for our party of 3. The wait was supposed to be 20 minutes, but ended up being only about 10 minutes. That staff was fast and friendly. Food: I had the veggie breakfast wrap, which was delicious! First off, be prepared to fight for a parking spot. Slim pickings here. The menu is extensive. Give yourselves 15 minutes just to digest it. Not a bad thing though. My first visit to Bada Bean and I was very pleased. My friend and I met for lunch and were greeting promptly by Tishani who brought our beverages quickly. My friend got the turkey vegetable soup and salad and I selected the BLTA (not sure these initials are in the right order) which was a BLT with avocado, and home fries. My friend's soup looked tasty and her salad was large and fresh. My sandwich was very tasty. The home fries were okay but not hot enough and I wish I had tried the potato salad instead. The decor was interesting and eclectic. Tishani was gracious. Alin-all, we had a pleasant and enjoyable lunch. I am anxious to return to try some of the breakfast selections, which sounded great. One of my favorite breakfast places. My mom introduced it to me when we were visiting my sister a few years ago. (My mom has since moved to town and I have introduced my husband.) I have a list of places I have to go when I am in town visiting and this is one of them. I love it. They have so many different options from pancakes to omelets to skillets. They give a ton of food for the price and it is served hot. I love the "coffee bar" as well. I love being able to try a few different coffees and also love it comes from one of my favorite coffee roasters, and my favorite in Tallahassee, Lucky Goat. It is a very family friendly place and while there are a few downfalls (like parking is very limited), there are a lot of upsides. (The last time we were there, the owners granddaughter "demanded" our bill and took it away from us. It was adorable and of course we payed our bill, but she didn't want us to.) This is definitely a place that we will be coming to at least once every time we are in Tallahassee. read more
