The wait for a table was outrageous. Not the restaurant's fault, but the estimate of the time for a table was way off, taking nearly twice as long as predicted. My wife and son really liked their meals, but I was not impressed with mine. Tallahassee may have a lot of brunch places to choose from, but this is by far the best in my opinion! Bada Bean is a local cafe in a small plaza, a hole-in-the-wall diner feel with charming decorations. They have their own coffee (awesome with lots of flavors to choose from) which is self-serve so you can drink some while waiting for your table. My favorite thing to order is the Birdshot, but everything on the menu is tasty so it's hard to decide! My husband and I always love coming here. read more

I'm giving 3 stars purely for the staff and the good vibe feel. I didn't really care for my food. My pancake was tough and luke warm. Over mixed likely. I was salty about that. I was vautiosly excited about the description of the "crispy corn beef hash" which turned out not crispy and also luke warm. The flavor was good but it really had the consistency of a can. The cheese grits were good. No complaints. The orange juice was delish. All in all 3 stars is more than fair. The servers are awesome. This is an update to a review I did three months ago. I'd like to add even more positive feedback on the Bada Bean. Earlier today, I had the opportunity to eat at another place in Tallahassee that provides similar food to Bada Bean (breakfast, brunch & lunch), and I was reminded why the food at Bada Bean is so good. First, the menu selections are awesome. Second, and this was the big difference, the food at the Bada Bean is always piping hot. For instance, at this other location the home fries were just warm. At the Bada Bean, they are always piping hot, fresh from the fryer. It's those little things that make this place special. While in Tallahassee with my son during FSU Freshman Orientation, my other son, a senior at FSU introduced us to this charming breakfast joint. The staff was friendly and attentive. This is a great breakfast place. The home fries are the best I've ever had and I like that we can sample all the coffees as much as we want. All of that being said, on Sunday, May 12th, I was dismayed to see the boss or manager speak rudely to the employees loudly in front of customers. They were scolded various times while I was sitting eating my breakfast...three times to be exact for different reasons. The manager appeared stressed maybe because it was Mother's Day and the crowd was large. I just feel that a private talk to individual workers would be more appropriate. A little far to get a quick bite if you live closer to campus but worth the drive to have brunch with friends! They do get busy but I would never believe their hostess's wait time. They told us 45 minutes and I've never had to wait longer than 20! I was having a desperate craving for eggs Benedict and stopped by with some friends. My friend and I shared the traditional eggs Benedict and the crab cake eggs Benedict special! Definitely satisfied my craving but I did think it was a little overpriced for what you get. It could be just the area and I'm not used to the prices here in Tallahassee because back home I could have ordered the same thing and received a bigger portion for 3 to 4 dollars cheaper. It would be nice if they could cook the Canadian bacon a little bit longer as mine was undercooked. I just know for next time to ask and don't get me wrong it was delicious anyway! If you're a fan of crabcake I would suggest trying their special as my friend I loved hers! I found out that I'm not really a fan of crabcake so next time I'll just stick with the traditional! I also had one of their lattes! They have many sugar free options, if that's something your interested in. I had their sneakers hot latte, my friend had their hazelnut iced and my other friend had the vanilla iced all sugar free and let me tell you, you wouldn't believe it was sugar free by the taste! They were all delicious! Usually when you get a hot drink you have to wait for it to cool down but I'm not sure what kind of magic they're working back there but the temperature I received my latte was absolutely perfect and I did not have to wait to dive in! Bada Bean is the best place in Tally for breakfast/brunch (in my opinion). The specials are ever changing and the extensive menu never fails to please. What I love most about this place is that it is family owned and operated. And boy oh boy it is operated very well. The service is fantastic. The food is everything. You can legitimately tell the difference between the heart and soul that goes into the cooking vs a commercialised business. My favorite things here are the Body Guard, the Philly!, and Pedro's Fiesta, though I haven't had anything I haven't loved. We rely on Yelp users to point out good places to eat. We really liked Bada Bean for breakfast. My husband enjoyed the homemade corned beef hash with eggs and hollandaise on top. I had an omelet with spinach, chicken. bacon and other deliciousness. We arrived at about 8:30 am on a Thursday morning and were seated right away. they filled up soon after so I suggest you arrive early. Coffee is self-serve at a bar. Other reviewers were not in favor of that but my husband didn't seem to mind, and he got exactly what he wanted. The food was delicious and we would return again if in the area. I love this place so much, the best breakfast in Tallahassee, they need a location closer to me!! Their portion sizes are very large, so you definitely get a good deal. Some breakfast isn't good leftover so I somewhat wish they just charged less for smaller portions. But I get something different every time I come and haven't been disappointed yet. They always have like 5-6 different coffees out. The decor is awesome (1950s mafia stuff) and the servers are always very nice. I hadn't been to Bada Bean in years, and it was long overdue. If I remember correctly, it used to be more of a coffee shop, but I may be wrong. Today I had a full breakfast that consisted of its plate called "The Bodyguard." This dish brings two eggs, a side, and a generous portion of their homemade corned beef hash. Utterly delicious. For dessert I had their cinnamon roll pancake, which is as delectable as the name implies. And here's one thing that I absolutely love about this place: you can actually order a single freakin' pancake à la carte! It's a HUGE pet peeve of mine when you go to a breakfast restaurant and you are forced to order a stack of two, three or four pancakes when all you want is one damned pancake! So this is a plus for this place. The coffee was good and plentiful, and I like their coffee bar style, where you just get a mug and help yourself to as many cup-o-joes as you want. It's a family run business, and that is evident from the food you eat to the service you receive. Everything about Bada feels like home, but with a creative twist on some of the old classics. It's evident that they are very passionate about the food they serve. One of my favorite parts of Bada Bean is their coffee bar. With an assortment of coffee flavors and roasts made possible by locally owned, Lucky Goat. On weekends, they frequently have a wait of about 30 minutes, but feel free to ask for a cup of coffee while you wait. I've had a few different things from their menu: the bird shot, body guard and my favorite, the country fried steak. Everything has been delicious and fresh. Keep an eye out for their specials! My boyfriend and I have an extreme love hate relationship with Bada Bean. We have been coming here for the last two years for almost every weekend but are convinced that we have just gotten ourselves into an abusive relationship with this place. The Good- The food is absolutely amazing!!! Their hollandaise sauce is fantastic and you have to try a cinnamon roll pancake, you won't regret it. The atmosphere is nice and the place is obviously tasty since the wait time is ALWAYS 20-30 minutes. The Bad- The service is poor. Always slow and about 8 out of 10 times something is incorrect on the order. Some of the servers are fine but very caring but others are awful and take forever. I would give this place 5/5 on food and 1/5 on service. You always wait about 30 minutes to be seated so one would hope that the service would be quick and efficient! Whatever, we're still coming here every weekend ;) overall, don't come here if you're in a rush but if you have some time, it's mostly worth it! read more

One of my girlfriends favorite places to go. To be fair, it's nothing unique, or maybe I just haven't found that one special item that makes me "have" to come back. That being said, it's a great neighborhood breakfast joint. Weekends are busy, so expect to wait 10-20 minutes for a table. Nothing crazy. The parking situation leaves much to be desired. There are other business in the 25 odd parking space lot, so weekends can present that issue as well. The food is good. Absolutely a step up from your typical IHOP etc. Service during the week is good. On weekends you can tell the servers are over breakfast crowd by about 11am. Overall the menu selection is vast and the quality is on par with the price if not better. Word to the wise, if visiting on a weekday call a head to make sure they are still open. While the hours of operation say, "open till 3pm" I've pulled up to a closed store at 2:15 more than once. For that reason it's 4 stars instead of 5. read more
