Mercato Ristorante is located several minutes from Princeton along the main business stretch of Kingston on Route 27. While Kingston itself is a sleepy town, it's home to several restaurants worth visiting for a decent meal. It's a cozy spot with a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating. It's got a sandwich menu for fast casual dining, a sit down area for a more traditional sit down meals with service, and it's also part Italian market. Since I stopped in for a quick lunch, I opted to go with the chicken parmigiana sandwich from their sandwich menu, with sauce on the side. It was probably one of the better chicken parmigiana sandwiches I've had in a while, with decent breaded chicken cutlet, and quality ingredients with the roll, tomato sauce, and cheese working in harmony with the chicken to make for a solid and filling meal. While prices for their regular menu seem a bit on the higher side for an area Italian eatery, I wouldn't mind returning to try out some of their other offerings based on the quality sandwich experience.

They sat us in a corner, no breeze and learned their AC and fan has been broken for years. Couple next to us sat down said its too hot and left in less than a minute. We stuck it out and was glad we did. Their take on an amaretto sour was very tart and vibrant, a new favorite. Reisling was nice and sweet. Main course was papardelli, fresh pasta. Fully enjoyed that. Friday special ia chicken parm, was cooked nicely. However when we discussed dessert we just were too hot to have another drink and have dessert which is a shame. Not sure why they haven't fixed this know air issue, they are loosing sales.... What kept it 4 star for us was the wait staff. Jordan was extremely friendly and efficient, as well as the other staff that took care of us. Would love to go back, but maybe in late fall/winter unless they fix their fan/ac issue.

But, I wasn't blown away by any of the courses, unfortunately. The only dish that stood out as being really good were the rice balls. Everything else was just average-and that makes me really sad because I have been looking to try this place FOREVER, especially since we had our wedding reception at their sister restaurant that closed almost twenty years ago--and their food blew me away. Collectively, we ordered calamari- bland, arancini-delicious, crispy eggplant-bland and dry. I ordered the crab agnolotti which was just, well.... bland. My mom's salmon seemed to be cooked well, we asked for medium and that's what she got. The tiramisu was good, and I am not generally a fan. The mocktail that ordered-basil gimlet was a nice balance of sweet and sour. Overall, really giving it a 3.5 but based upon comparison to my other 4 star ratings, I had to bring it down a bit. An overall nice experience, but since the food is the star... I'm not sure if I will return.

Normally we stay away from pasta restaurants unless there's something unique to it. However, Pastiamo hit a home run immediately. From Chef Francesca being ever present in the restaurant - from serving to seating - to the homemade focaccia you receive as a starter, it was an impeccable dining experience. Then you add the nice plates and simple, yet warm decor. You just can't go wrong. We split the forza Italia as an appetizer to get more of a focaccia kick. We loved the homemade bread. The three cheeses were a nice and complimentary touch. Also, dousing this with some freshly squeezed orange juice didn't hurt. For the main course, we split a pesto gnocchi and a tagliatelle alla Norma. The pasta was truly homemade. Felt super fresh. The sauces were great and not too oily or salty. It was so good that we decided to bring some home to my parents. We will be back again!

We waked in to a classy and modern ambiance . Drinks were good . The mocktail was better than the cocktail! Appetizers came out quick initially but the entree took longer .Our server was very knowledgeable sharing the specials and made some great recommendations Grilled calamari with squid ink & Spicy shrimp in white wine garlic sauce with the house bread and Fries with truffle aioli made for a tasty start to a nice dinner Pappardelle with rabbit ragu & Lightly blackened salmon with couscous n parsnips puree were the entree picks and they were delicious. I particularly enjoyed the rabbit in the pasta though I got a bone in it , which the server mentioned should not have been there but it was a miss ! No regrets as it's apparently not a big deal!! We didn't have any dessert but they got us couple of ginger cookies on a plate with a piped chocolate wish ! Was a nice touch to wrap our evening on a high note

Starters consisted of French onion soup; very tasty and rich with delicious Gruyère cheese. Mussels with tomato- white wine sauce; spicy and smoky flavor. Desser consisted of pound cake ice cream sandwich. Tasted like a smore, very delicious. Although it's a bit pricey, averaged about $105 per person from drinks to dessert. We will definitely return. O my reason I gave 4 stars was they only offer valet parking. We couldn't just park there ourselves. Had to park down street at another restaurant. We don't like valet for privacy reasons. Highly recommend this restaurant; great experience .

"This looks like a place I would come as a drunk college kid," my husband mused when we first stepped inside. True to his observations, the menu is rife with the kinds of deep fried goodies and artery-clogging sandwiches that are best meant for youthful bodies with optimal metabolism. We ordered a fun variety for ourselves - a meatball parm, a pound of buffalo wings, an order of curly fries, and - to balance things out - the harvest salad. For those ordering sandwiches, know that they're enormous. A half order is an 11" deal, while the whole is a Brobdingnagian 22". Our half sandwich was great, and definitely more than enough for us to share. We had few notes on anything we ordered. The curly fries were hot and crispy, the buffalo wings hot and tangy, and the meatball parm was just as expected. I was particularly surprised by the salad, which was just supposed to be a fresh and green counterpart to all the heavier foods. I would have been happy enough with some greens and a vinaigrette, but we had a pretty robust salad with blue cheese, chicken, and pieces of diced apple. I never would've expected to find a good salad at a place like this one, but there you go. There are a few high tables and stools, but little else by way of ambiance. Clearly, the focus here is to eat and clear out. That said, service at the counter was incredibly warm and friendly. As far as parking goes, there are a few spots out front and even a few more behind the building. I struggled with the number of stars here, because this isn't highbrow or fine dining. If that's what you're after, I'd definitely look elsewhere. But it's predictable, freshly prepared, and therefore perfect for a college town. If that's what you're expecting, this is your four-star spot.
