I was working in Brooklyn the other day and was looking for some lunch. BK is not my stomping grounds so as far as food I was not familiar. No worries, though - as I whipped out Yelp and did a quick search. One of the top hits was La Bagel Delight - and since the reviews and pics looked great I decided to head over. As suggested by the name, LBD serves up bagels - lots of them in different varieties with just as many cream cheese flavors to match. Beyond that, they're a deli with an extensive sandwich menu - plus other items one would expect to find (think bags of chips, bottled soft drinks, etc.). There's a lot of stuff in the space but it's set up nicely and they even have a small seating area in the back. I browsed their sandwich menu and the Porketta instantly stood out to me - not sure if the misspelling is intentional but I'm going with it. Anyway - everything on this sandwich was speaking to me - porchetta, broccoli rabe, sun-dried tomato, and fresh mozz. I mean, wow - you didn't need to tell me twice. It came on a hero as standard, but I didn't want that big of a sandwich so they offered a kaiser roll which I appreciated. The sandwich was excellent - it was steaming as I opened the wrapper, and everything tasted super fresh; it was a total yes. Service was also great - as soon as my colleagues and I walked in, we were warmly greeted and taken care of promptly. As if the sandwich wasn't enough, the customer service made this even more of a memorable experience. Overall, I had a great experience at La Bagel Delight - my sandwich was super tasty with quality ingredients and the hospitality was top-drawer. Treated Poorly at La Bagel Delight Despite Being a Paying Customer Today I went to La Bagel Delight (284 7th Ave, Brooklyn) and purchased a can of Celsius and a Coke, totaling $5.74. I paid $6 out of pocket, took my drinks, and left -- not because of any mistake I made, but because I was overwhelmed by the staff's complete lack of compassion, basic understanding, and professionalism. As someone living with a disability, being dismissed, misunderstood, and made to feel like a burden is exhausting. I tried explaining my situation clearly and calmly, but they showed no empathy, no effort to understand, and certainly no apology for how they handled it. Not even an ounce of decency to acknowledge what happened. This place is right across from a hospital, where people -- especially disabled folks like me -- are more likely to stop in. The fact that the staff are so untrained in basic respect and human decency is upsetting and unacceptable. Being out of work for a while is difficult and La Bagel really helps people out. Not only do they offer a cash savings (instead of paying with a card), they provided me one of the best Too Good To Go orders with a whopping 14 bagels for $5. Pickup was easy at around 4:30-5p as they were cleaning and shutting down early as I am sure the baker was up way early making these doughy goodies. While I didn't get a cinnamon raison (my fave), the bag included plain, sesame, everything, and garlic. As most people know bagels freeze well, but what is even more awesome make bagel chips. YES, the bagel even with the generous spreading of cream cheese was dry - hard - tasteless. After two bits, I just spit the stale cooked dough out of my mouth. I opened my coffee, which was not a small, but turned out to be a large - giant, not light, yes to the 1/2&1/2 and no sugar requested. But the coffee was too hot, I asked for light. Now I have to eat the egg bagel ... I'm really hungry. The first thing I notice is that there is barely any butter ... like where is the butter. And the bite, and here to fucking stale shit. "This is magical place, full of wonderful people, making amazing food". These are the words of my partner after eating the first bite of his breakfast sandwich at La Bagel Delight. We stumbled into this spot on a Saturday morning. The front is run like a well oiled machine. They were busy but our order was taken right away by one of the 15 people working behind the counter. We both ordered the Jersey Boy Breakfast Sandwich, which is Taylor ham, egg and cheese on a bagel. I got mine on an egg everything and my partner got a plain. The bagels are top tier. Crunchy on the outside, soft and steaming on the inside. As a born and bred New Jersey native, I was over the top excited when I saw they were using the Taylor Hand brand of pork roll- the real deal! This is so hard to find in the city. Best of all, they use board head deli meats and stack their sandwiches high. Their staff was friendly and kind, serving up the food with love. I got a hot coffee to eat with my sandwich and it was also solid. They also had a display case full of incredible looking sweet treats. I'll absolutely be back to try them out. Been wanting to try this place for ages but was never in the neighborhood but finally I am in the area and can try this place out. There is plenty of options on the menu with various different types of bagels, various cream cheese and a different variety of sandwich options. Everyone working there is extremely nice and efficient, they take your order right away and the food comes out soon after. The bagels are amazing - I don't think that you can go wrong with them. They are definitely large and will fill you up! Their sandwiches are also super tasty and in the beginning I was surprised to see that they were more expensive than the usual deli sandwiches but they are so worth it. They are super tasty and majority of the sandwiches are HUGE. I have yet to try out their sweets but they look super good as well. The only downside is I'm not a huge fan of their coffee - their ice coffee tasted a little burnt to me but I will definitely be back for the sandwiches for sure! read more
