Ate here twice on a trip we enjoyed it so much. Quality bagels with lots of options, great coffee, great vibes, and great staff.

I'm not a huge fan of bagels,unless they are done right. Let me tell you, The Bagel Mill is legit. Proper boiled bagels. The kind you hope to get when visiting a major city. Truly delicious. Not your grocery store bagel. If you've been wanting a proper bagel wait no further and head on down. Also, they have a top notch barrister, who makes one hell of a latte. I used to like this place. But I went in today to order a toasted bagel with cream cheese and the clerk said that it would be half an hour before they can toast it. I said OK and I took it cold. He put the bagel in a bag with a cream cheese. When I got to my car I realize that he hadn't even cut the bagel or added a knife so I have to pull it apart with my hands now and use the lid to get the cream cheese out Passive aggressive dick move. Not going here again. I can go next door to Petaluma market for a cheeper bagel. read more

These are truly great bagels, crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, with great flavor. We have tried the plain, everything, marble rye and salt. All of them are great. And the schmears are terrific, especially the green olive. We have gotten take out only, but our order has always been correct and on time and waiting for us at the requested time. We were passing through Petaluma and decided to stop by and grab breakfast at this place. They have some interesting and unique bagels that we tried. We ordered the cream cheese and greens, lox and egg and cheese. To me, the bagels were a tad tough. I think they were not toasted at all. The place though was nice, clean and modern. I really wanted to like this place. I went two Saturday's in a row. The mochas were delicious, the service is very friendly but the bagels are lame. I got the pizza one toasted with cream cheese. I ate it but was far from impressed with the bagel flavor. I didn't give up and went again next week. I got the plain with cinnamon/honey cream cheese. I took one bite and tossed it. I had bought two cinnamon raisin ones to take home. I tossed those as well after toasting one. Only 2 raisins and the sourdough just really overwhelms the flavor. I really liked the atmosphere of the place and the service, I wish the bagels were as good. read more

Well, I had heard good reviews so thought it worth a try. Unfortunately my expectations weren't really met. It's not bad, but it's not great. First off, the bellwether bagel, a simple plain, isn't made (seriously, a bagel place that doesn't do the classics?). Every bagel is some flavored variety, which can be nice, but misses the point of a simple food. Anyway I rolled with that and decided I'd try the Reuben on marbled rye. Sadly it came up short. For $11 I thought it would be stuffed high with goodies but it isn't. It's really quite small and short on the russian and kraut as well as the pastrami. I ended up thinking that it was pleasant enough but wishing I'd picked up some chips or the like to make a meal of it. I felt I'd spent $11 on a $7 bagel so it seemed overpriced for a quick lunch. Add that the basic bagel price starts at $2 each for a plain wheat, $3 for others, so they're a bit expensive for what they are. OK, at the end of the day none of this breaks the bank but I still felt I'd been charged too much for too little - and that feeling tends to translate into a non-return for me. Sorry Bagel Mill - you've got to do something better in a competitive market like Petaluma to keep people coming back. You're not there with it yet. read more

Everything about this place is spectacular. The bagels (and cream cheeses) are delicious. Other options like avocado toast and the egg salad are divine. The coffee is another hidden gem, best latte in Petaluma. And the people - Glenda, Michael, Ricky, Lisa, and everyone else - are wonderful. Couldn't recommend more highly. read more

First let me just say, I am more than willing to admit that I am a bagel snob. I have had some of the best bagels and shmear ever in Santa Cruz at the Bagelry and The House Of Bagels in SF. So I was feeling my sass when I walked into the place. First, I was greeted by a very plesant smiling man who informed me that everything that was baked in the place had a sourdough starter including the brownie (waaaaaa? Let just say I got one and boy howdy. Rich, light, airy and tasty as can be! Woohoo!)Apparently by making the items with the sourdough starter(how very bay area I thought!) It makes the product healthy! Well well well! I like that! I ordered one of the fab brownies, a toasted sesame bagel with green onion shmear on half and honey cinnamon shmear on the other. They slather it on thick too. I love it. But if you don't be sure to ask for it light. I also got an espresso drink that is made with Ritual coffee. Which, if you know Ritual, ooooweee, YUM! So smoooooth. The drink was like a short latte. The name of the drink is something that starts with a G. Super good. The place kind of has a sterile feel to it. The whole experience was great. Minus the gal who handed me my food. She was a pert, which is the reason for the 4 stars. I will go back though. Everything else was great and maybe the gal was having a bad day. LOVE that they grind their own flour and do long ferments! We have tried many of the breakfast and lunch bagel sandwiches and found them all to be tasty and filling. Other baked items are also worth trying -- the rye raisin cookie is DELICIOUS! They also make high quality espresso drinks. Thumbs up all around. read more

I lived in NY for many years, so I'm bagel obsessed. I've also had Canadian bagels, so I don't hold NY bagels as the "only good bagel"...long story short; its not the water, its about how much you care about making a great bagel. It is VERY clear that the owners of the bagel mill care about great bagels. The interior structure of the bagels is soft and airy, the exterior is perfectly chewy. This is a bagel better than anything in SF, and maybe even better than the best in Oakland. Get an everything bagel, add your favorite spread, thank me later. read more

Good traditional bagel, but the sourdough starter flavor overpowers the flavors of the actual bagel flavor, ie cinnamon raisin. The website ordering was ok, but it doesn't have the options for a single bagel to be sliced. This led me to believe they would come sliced. When I arrived to pick up the bagels, they were not sliced and the employee said it would cost an extra $2 to have 6 bagels sliced!!! Why charge extra for a basic service that typically is done when a bagel is ordered on site to be toasted?!?!? They should also add an option to get a single serving size of their spreads, like a 2oz. In these days, many people are taking the bagels home and eating them there. I don't need a 6oz container of a single flavor for a single bagel. While I appreciate the online ordering system, it needs work and additional features to accommodate a wide variety of customers and customization. read more

Shout out to the best bagel game in town! Our family has not had a chance to visit The Petaluma Bagel Mill since SIP, but we think about them often and look forward to a time when we can have morning breakfast sandwiches in their cafe with our twins! Yummy bagels, bought some and took home for bagels and lox. Made the entire apartment smell fabulous. I went on a Friday morning around 10 and there was no line. Was in and out in less than 3 minutes. But if there had been a line I would have understood because I wait in line to get into Whole Foods and Trader Joe's now so that's just pandemic life. This place is POPPIN. BAGELS are 10/10, SERVICE is 10/10, AMBIANCE is 10/10. If you don't give this place 5 stars, I question every decision you have ever made. But seriously, this place is great. This place is awesome! Great vibe and the decor is so nice. They also have the best Vegan bagels. I also tried the cinnamon honey spread and it's delicious. I also tried their raisin bagel. They are family friendly. They offer high chairs for babies. They offer free WiFi and water. They make their bagels in the back fresh every day.
