These folks work their behinds off and it really shows. From setting up web ordering, bing bang boom, to offering free (hello, FREE?) sourdough starter and everything from bagels to bake-at-home cookie dough for people missing their favorite local bageliers during quarantine, personally I've been impressed with the creative thinking, generosity, and aplomb with which they're handling everything. Can't wait to come back here in person when this is all over with--but for now at least I've got Bagel Mill bagels in the freezer and a robust sourdough starter to play with at home. read more

Talk about bagels made with love. The amount of effort and quality ingredients that goes into baking these delicious bagels shows up within the first bite. My favorites are the marbled rye and the cinnamon raisin. Having one in a breakfast sandwich version is never a bad decision. The staff are super friendly. If you're in the need to get some studying/homework done than this is also a great spot to bring your laptop and order a cup of coffee along with your bagel sandwich. Oh these are very good bagels! I buy a mixed dozen of sesame and everything bagels to take home, slice up and freeze. These are perfect for that. The cream cheeses are good too. I like the veggie and chive versions with some ham off the bone slices from the petaluma market that is right next door. That makes a very nice breakfast while I'm WFH. The olive cream cheese is also nice but a bit salty... may need to add something like tomato slices and cucumber slices instead of ham to cut down on the saltiness. I also tried their pastrami bagel sandwich and added veggie cream cheese. I highly recommend this combo. Yummy!! The online ordering from their website is very convenient and easy to do. Okay, I'm all about giving my money to a local business, but not if you have to actually take out a payment plan to pay for breakfast. Their bagels are, fair play to them, excellent. But wifey and I stopped on for a quick bite - and two bagel sandwiches and one coffee later, and the bill was $27. Wait, what? WHAT? Again, excellent bagels. Way better than the local competition, but come ON. My reuben bagel came out and had maybe three slices of pastrami on there and a little bit of sauerkraut. FOR TEN BUCKS. I'd love to see the Bagel Mill do well, but I fear that once the novelty wears off, they'll see their pricing drag them down. Hopefully they'll adjust it before that happens. read more

First of all, I love the atmosphere with the big windows and the beautiful wooden tables. The store is really light and airy and not very noisy at all for how busy they were. Customer service is on point and very professional.The coffee/cappuccinos are amazing and the latte art is beautiful. I had the overnight oats with honey, cinnamon, raspberries and kiwis. Yum!! If you want a great bagel, come here.. I've tried others around the bay and none compare to nyc bagels this is the closest I've had, however if you know good bagels you will love this. I've seen other reviews talking about price you get what you pay for. If you want a cheap bagel Costco has 2 packs for 5$. The cream cheese is not runny at all. Third times a charm! Absolutely adore The Bagel Mill! So many new local eateries in Petaluma and I hope The Bagel Mill is here to stay. Go support! Perfect location on Western near the Petaluma market. Great for a quick bite or enough room to grab a table to work or catchup with friends. Service was amazing, staff seems to work well under pressure and a busy environment which is not an easy task to do! The first time I went the line was out the door! So that was a true indication of how amazing this place is! There were a few rude customers who were getting upset from the wait but, HELLO brand new to town and delicious, what do you expect? Expect a wait on weekend mornings as those are the only times I hit a rush at The Bagel Mill. One of the owners brought out chocolate chip cookies for those waiting for their orders! So sweet! Let me tell you when I say the chocolate chip cookies are out of this world I mean it! Do yourself a solid and go try them! So far I have only tried the Bodega Bagel on Whole Wheat. I love how the bagels are made in house and eggs are farm fresh. I saw other reviews regarding price and I would have to say its definitely worth it! I would give 5 starts but I saw something that disappointed me a bit on my 3rd visit. I'm pretty picky when it comes to food safety and handling. I understand it wasn't as busy this visit given being early afternoon on a weekday however, I think thats not an excuse to eat chips while preparing my bagel sandwich. You can see the cooks preparing your food which is awesome but thats the thing! All I ask is to please take the extra time to handle food carefully as many have food allergens and such. I'm ignoring the service, which like another reviewer mentioned was... awkward - not unfriendly, but just odd. I'm assuming they'll work out those kinks. The bagels are really great, but $4 for a bagel with cream cheese and nearly $10 for a breakfast sandwich is priced a bit high for me. I totally get that the bagels are artisan and despite being better than the average bagel you can find in the grocery store, for me, my price sensitivity for a bagel far exceeds my appreciation for something artisan. Best gluten free bagel! I got the cream cheese and greens on the gf onion bagel. It. Was. So. Good!! The texture is perfect not gummy or grainy like others I've had. Other then there gf bagels my husband loved his sourdough bagel with olive cream cheese. All together this is such a nice addition to Petaluma. The decor is on point and the staff is very nice. I'm genuinely disappointed to be writing this review. Unfortunately, I couldn't find an email to send this feedback privately, which would have been my preference. I had a very negative experience in this previously beloved establishment today, and it wasn't the first time, so I feel compelled to speak up. My husband and I drive 20 minutes to patron The Bagel Mill. We loved it, originally. I worked in customer service for 15 years, so I've been on the receiving end of complaints, and it always taught me to be more patient and polite. It's really simple. You can say something kindly, or rudely, it's a choice. Today I was treated rudely by a staff member named Kailey. Rudely enough that I said something about it. I've been a patron before in The Bagel Mill and witnessed a cashier speak so rudely to an older gentleman that I cringed and thought, "man I don't even want to be here." I get it, nobody likes to say the same stuff everyday, all day to customers. But it's your job. We all have a job. And if I'm paying good money and going out of my way to support a business, I don't want to be spoken to like I'm a problem. My husband was outside with our puppy and I didn't realize there's NO outdoor seating for your business. So instead of saying something like, "oh unfortunately we can't have our porcelain cups outside, I'll put the drinks in to go cups and bring them out to you!" (and waiting to roll her eyes until I was gone), I was huffed and snapped at like I was some idiot that wanted to steal your cups or something? When I said it could have been communicated more politely, the condescension and lack of an apology made me even more uncomfortable ("sorry for your confusion" - it wasn't confusion, it was rudeness). I've literally NEVER gone out of my way to make a complaint like this. But you never know what someone is going through. Don't be a jerk. Especially don't be a jerk when you're representing a place of business. The whole thing was avoidable and left me wondering why I would pay money to be treated so rudely. I won't make that mistake again. We loved your bagel shop, but customer service and kindness are everything. So thanks to Kailey, I doubt we'll be back. Oh and on top of everything else, if you aren't going to put cream cheese on both halves of a bagel, why even bother? read more

It may not be a fair standard to hold them to...this guy from Brooklyn grew up with a few great bagel shops walking distance from Ave S and E 54th St. Well, they seem to boil them - the texture of the crust and the interior is pretty damn good. And I guess in this time of local and natural a soured dough would be a possible variant. But for me, a bagel is a bit malty sweet. The sour throws it all off for me. But, compared to most of what's out there - yes I went with 4 rather than 3. I purchased just bagels to go (poppy and onion - classics for me!). It's one of the best places to grab breakfast even during SIP, and I'm so impressed with their ability to adapt. Just had my second visit to The Bagel Mill and, believe you me, the extraordinary goodness I just experienced deserved an equally extraordinary review. I am a bagel aficionado, to say the least. I have tried bagels in every corner of the Bay Area, most major American cities, and in London, Paris, and Istanbul for good measure. I can safely say that the Bagel Mill matches or exceeds the best on the entire globe. What differentiates The Bagel Mill from the rest? I'll tell you! The Mill successfully merges a high quality perfectly textured bagel with the ethos of Sonoma County farm-to-table culture. Their schmears are heavenly concoctions made from locally sourced ingredients. Their green olive and red pepper schmears will knock your socks off. The fresh Norwegian lox schmear is combined with local fresh spices that essentially redefines this beloved spread. The bagels, even by themselves, are prime examples that haute cuisine isn't reserved for expensive restaurants. The flour used in the bagels is milled on-site which you never see. The freshly milled flour adds a sense of urgency (for lack of a better word) to the complex flavors these bagels elicit. One last note. You have to try the cookies, also made with flour milled on site. The heartiness and complexity is unrivaled by any local bakeries. Indeed, they very much remind me of a bakery in the Luxembourg countryside that also milled it's own flour. Maybe I got spoiled by good Bagel, or had my expectations too high... yes I walked at the shop at 12;35 PM , but still want to have a sandwich that cost $10 plus tips. that would test as a sandwich that as food. Great new spot in town! A variety of bagels from gluten free to vegan and a super friendly staff. I got the vegan bagel on a whole wheat everything and it all tasted super fresh! I drove from Rohnert Park to Petaluma just for a sound recommendation of good bagels. I was going to meet my daughter to have lunch. Walking in the place is very nice and friendly. While I waited for my daughter I thought why not try a plain bagel with a cup of coffee. The coffee was good and as I ate the bagel although it looked great there was something about the taste that didn't please me. I finally ask the waitress why the bagel tasted bitter and sour and she explained to me it was because they made sourdough bagels. I thought it was sad,being having the perfect opportunity to make bagels so perfect they decided to make sourdough instead. For true bagel lovers there is no substitute for the real thing.You could always at least give the option of each.Even french bread company's give you a choice sweet or sour. read more
