I love bagels, and we made the journey over to try this place I had seen a lot about. I'm glad we did. It's really busy, filled with locals and tourists alike. From the moment we walked in, we were almost overwhelmed with the amount of options available to choose from. One of the wonderful staff members saw us struggling with what to decide from, and she made some suggestions and was incredible. She even came up to the front to the cashier when it was time to order to make sure we ordered everything we discussed about in the correct manner. From that alone, she made the experience a 5/5. Every bite we had was good, and while I moved away from the NY area, my appetite for NY bagels remains. While I'm in the city a few times a year, I'm not often in the UES. This place makes me want to go to the UES so I can try as many options as possible on the menu. The blueberry cream cheese is SO GOOD. I was craving it later that day. I originally wanted the Lox, which also hit the spot. But the blueberry cream cheese taste was so smooth and not over powering. I loved how the taste melted in my mouth. Service was quick. I got my food pretty quickly after ordering, even thought there was a line before and after me. I came on a snowy day, but I would definitely love to come on a sunny day. This is a nice quick to-go breakfast/brunch spot. I wanted to love this place so badly and came in with high expectations but was honestly pretty disappointed. When I came, the store was packed, so be prepared to wait in line. There are some seats available but they're very limited and it felt like everyone was hovering over each other to try to get a seat as soon as it became available. Service was friendly though. I love this place. Feels like a neighborhood staple, always busy but quick getting your food, TONS of options, the bagels are all really good and fresh, the cream cheese top notch, especially the strawberry and blue berry which actually have real fruit in them. The staff is nice, the other customers are nice. They have lots of seating inside (although it's a bit noisy) and even more seating outside of the wether is nice. Personally only thing I would recommend is the breakfast sandwich, I feel that the cheese isn't melted enough and there is a TON of eggs but not as much meat which is where I feel most the flavor comes from. read more

The Olive Pimento and the Pumpernickel Bagels are just two of my go to for a special breakfast treat. But like why is this the best bagel place I've had in NYC thus far? Every time I walked by here there was always a huge line out the door so I decided to try it out. We placed our order and surprisingly was able to find a table for 2 and we got our bagels within 10 minutes as they shouted our name over an intercom. I ordered the Upper East Sider on a delicious toasted onion bagel. I don't have much to say about the bagel itself, but each ingredient inside had generous servings. The lox was very thick cut and fresh and went very well with the capers and tomatoes. I definitely felt very full afterward. Looks, am I happy that it costs $15+ for a bagel? This review is long overdue. This is my go to bagel place when in the Upper East Side. They have a large variety of sandwiches, bagels and spreads. There are so many options it may be a bit intimidating, but I usually do not get in line until I have decided what I want. This time I has the California Dreamin", and even though the sign clearly states no substitutions, I substituted honey mustard for lemon honey feta spread, on a sesame bagel. The bagel was fresh and perfectly toasted. The tomatoes, avocado and cucumbers were thinly sliced and fresh. The swiss cheese was thick, but not too thick, just enough to taste the full flavor. Service is fast, but patient and friendly. The sandwich was $15, but was large enough to share. The lemon honey feta and sundried tomato spreads are some of my daughter's favorites and we purchased tubs to enjoy later. read more

I love a great bagel breakfast sandwich so the breakfast lox caught my eye. I haven't had egg and smoked salmon together before so wasn't sure how the combination would taste, but I was overall very impressed! They put just the right amount of cream cheese so the sandwich wasn't too heavy. I would've liked a little more lox and the bagel got soggy within 10 minutes but I still really enjoyed it! A relative of mine had an appointment in the UES and I agreed to accompany them so we needed a place to meet (and eat). The Bagel Shop was located perfectly near the place we were going to so we agreed to meet here. The Bagel Shop is literally a corner store with big windows that let sunlight flood into the interior. The exterior and interior use the classic black and white color scheme. The main seating area is an "L" shaped section on the left side of the shop while the main counter is also L shaped on the other side. The chairs are kind of mismatched as are a couple tables and that's actually kind of charming in its own way. There's even bench seating along the walls which surprised me. Another bit of wonderful NYC ambience is the parade of adorable dogs that come through the shop. I had a gorgeous doggo hanging out with its owner next to me and it was super chill and adorable. Love it! The staff at this shop is super nice. I actually arrived early and ate before my relative arrived. When they arrived we grabbed some more food for them and there was never any rush to kick us out or have us give up the table. For that, I was very appreciative. Food is also prepared super quick. Both times I ordered food I was surprised how fast my food was ready. So how is the food? I had a sesame bagel (toasted) with egg, cheese and turkey and it was fantastic. It came to me piping hot with the cheese beautifully melted. They gave me enough turkey that I needed a fork to keep the sandwich together! The key is that the bagel had the perfect texture and chew for a sandwich. Most times bagel sandwiches require you ripping the bread apart with your teeth (or a knife) but this one was perfect. My relative had a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese and they said it was really good. I really enjoyed The Bagel Shop and would go back any time! read more

We shared a fresh turkey sandwich on and everything bagel and I think we have an out of body experience. Another favorite I recommend is the wannabe Cubano grilled cheese. It hits all the taste buds and has a tangy kick. It's buttered and slathered in mustard, topped with pickles with ham and cheese. Always comes with a side of chips. Once I came here on the weekend, and they don't usually served grilled cheese but they did me a favor and made it anyway which I thought was really nice of them. Ambiance wise there is not much seating, just a few if you are lucky. Definitely more of a take it to go sort of joint. read more

Pretty good bagel spot on the UES! Prices are fair, and the lines on the weekends are long. I showed up around noon on Sunday and appreciate that they still had many types of bagels still available. There is some seating, but it's limited and most people waiting in line were doing take out. I got the BEC Everything Bagel: 3/5 Eggs were perfect and soft but the bacon was a bit overcooked. Bagel itself was okay though not terribly special. It was piping hot which is nice! Blueberry bagel with lemon honey cream cheese: 4/5 The blueberry bagel wasn't too special (the blueberries felt a bit artificial for me) but this cream cheese is the GOAT! It's lightly lemony and has some sweetness and a bit of crumbliness similar to feta. This was awesome and a great flavor. read more
