my partner and i were staying nearby for july 4th weekend.. it was my first time in beacon and i was honestly blown away. so many cultural gems, great foodie spots, a lively main street... such a colorful and vibrant community. but first... coffee! haha. the place we originally planned to go was closed for the holiday, so we serendipitously stopped here. glad we did. management had a bowl of cool water out for pups -- much appreciated in the summer heat. we got the breakfast wraps with bacon, pepper jack, home fries, and egg.. perfect proportions, well seasoned, and gone in seconds. coffee was strong and definitely hit the spot. great little stop to kick off the day. read more

Finished a hike at Mt Beacon, and decided I needed some nourishment, so we stumbled upon this cute spot as we wandered down Main St. SZA was playing so the vibes were immaculate upon entry. It was a Saturday afternoon, staff was busy, direct, and efficient. Most importantly they made a delectable sandwich. I wanted hummus so I also purchased their hummus which is a blend of chickpeas and sour cream garlic and parsley. It's different from traditional hummus, but I don't mind it. I put it on a wrap, ate it with some fries and garlic hot sauce. DELICIOUS. I would encourage using it to spice up a veggie wrap, or any sandwich really! We were in a rush so I had to eat on the go, but literally it was so good I had to sit and savor the flavor before driving off. The pastrami is great quality, and balances impeccably with the crunch of the slaw and the sweetness of the Russian dressing. 10/10, highly recommended. I am a regular at The Bagel Shoppe and will continue to be. I'm a Long Islander so naturally I'm a bagel snob. Their bagels are the best in the area. They make a very tasty breakfast sandwich and have lot of cream cheese spreads including a vegan tofu cream cheese option. This bagel shop deserves a lot of love for it's service, range of food options, and setup. Stumbled upon this shop after walking the strip through Beacon, eating and drinking my way through town. They have a ton of specials, spreads and "toffuti" spreads (including flavors like vegetable). They have plenty of staff available to take your order and begin making breakfast with the impact clearly seen by low waiting times (even with a packed house). If you're not interested in eggs or bagels, don't hesitate ordering treats like cannoli, crab cakes, marinated eggplant salad or even delicious looking chocolate eclairs. There is plenty of seating inside but no outdoor space, making it a bit challenging during COVID. Carrot cake and apple strudle also available, illustrating a very impressive picture of a bagel shop, coffee shop, and pastry shop mixed into one. The location isn't exactly convenient, at the end of the shopping strip, but heck - the town of Beacon is easily walkable and makes for a nice outdoor outing. Service was awful, very very rude to us for really no reason, wasn't super busy either. They forgot our coffee and when we asked for it, we sharply got corrected, "you mean latte?" This place is great and very gluten friendly. We ordered online and gluten free bagels were not an option on the app. I called the store just out of curiosity and they were SO nice and very helpful. They do sell gluten free bagels and switched it for me after I placed my order for a very small up-charge. The last time we didn't get the dozen and something was wrong with my everything bagel. So this morning, my son-in-law and I came in to pick up breakfast sandwiches & bagels. I had just had mouth surgery and could not eat a sandwich of any kind, so I ordered scrambled eggs. The woman behind the counter absolutely refused to make me the scrambled eggs; saying they can't do that! She was unbelievably hateful with the worst attitude. She stated that I had to do an omelette! I've never been treated so horribly and will never patronize this store again. The prices are a little steep for what you might expect for regular staples in the city but this is Beacon and the quality of their products are exceptional. My wife and I went on July fourth in the afternoon and there was 3 people in front of us in line. We waiting about 5 mins to order. We ordered the number 3 breakfast burrito and a hot shot omelet. Food took 25 mins to come out. Food was ok its missing some seasoning and the home fries were really bland and soggy. Staff wasn't friendly and looked overwhelmed and chaotic. The bagels were ok, not amazing. Some of the workers are rude. My boyfriend ordered a snickerdoodle frap and the gentleman told him it was a syrup. I went back up to get a coffee and asked for it in mine as well she goes back to make it and says we don't have snickerdoodle and he responds "we don't" and she said no so idk how I'm gonna make a snickerdoodle coffee. The staff seemed like the kind that are always behind and so avoid making eye contact with customers. After way too long a wait the bagel was standard at best.
