Finished a hike at Mt Beacon, and decided I needed some nourishment, so we stumbled upon this cute spot as we wandered down Main St. SZA was playing so the vibes were immaculate upon entry. It was a Saturday afternoon, staff was busy, direct, and efficient. Most importantly they made a delectable sandwich. I wanted hummus so I also purchased their hummus which is a blend of chickpeas and sour cream garlic and parsley. It's different from traditional hummus, but I don't mind it. I put it on a wrap, ate it with some fries and garlic hot sauce. DELICIOUS. I would encourage using it to spice up a veggie wrap, or any sandwich really! We were in a rush so I had to eat on the go, but literally it was so good I had to sit and savor the flavor before driving off. The pastrami is great quality, and balances impeccably with the crunch of the slaw and the sweetness of the Russian dressing. 10/10, highly recommended. This bagel shop deserves a lot of love for it's service, range of food options, and setup. Stumbled upon this shop after walking the strip through Beacon, eating and drinking my way through town. They have a ton of specials, spreads and "toffuti" spreads (including flavors like vegetable). They have plenty of staff available to take your order and begin making breakfast with the impact clearly seen by low waiting times (even with a packed house). If you're not interested in eggs or bagels, don't hesitate ordering treats like cannoli, crab cakes, marinated eggplant salad or even delicious looking chocolate eclairs. There is plenty of seating inside but no outdoor space, making it a bit challenging during COVID. Carrot cake and apple strudle also available, illustrating a very impressive picture of a bagel shop, coffee shop, and pastry shop mixed into one. The location isn't exactly convenient, at the end of the shopping strip, but heck - the town of Beacon is easily walkable and makes for a nice outdoor outing. I am a regular at The Bagel Shoppe and will continue to be. I'm a Long Islander so naturally I'm a bagel snob. Their bagels are the best in the area. They make a very tasty breakfast sandwich and have lot of cream cheese spreads including a vegan tofu cream cheese option. When you order the cream cheese they really pack it on there which I very much appreciate. They do tend to run out of bagel flavors though so try and get there nice and early if possible! read more

They do sell gluten free bagels and switched it for me after I placed my order for a very small up-charge. The last time we didn't get the dozen and something was wrong with my everything bagel. So this morning, my son-in-law and I came in to pick up breakfast sandwiches & bagels. I had just had mouth surgery and could not eat a sandwich of any kind, so I ordered scrambled eggs. The woman behind the counter absolutely refused to make me the scrambled eggs; saying they can't do that! She was unbelievably hateful with the worst attitude. The prices are a little steep for what you might expect for regular staples in the city but this is Beacon and the quality of their products are exceptional. Food took 25 mins to come out. Food was ok its missing some seasoning and the home fries were really bland and soggy. Staff wasn't friendly and looked overwhelmed and chaotic. The bagels were ok, not amazing. Some of the workers are rude. My boyfriend ordered a snickerdoodle frap and the gentleman told him it was a syrup. I have ordered bagels, sandwiches, and iced coffee from here, and I have always been really happy with the quality and consistency of the food. The service has been spotty over this year, which I imagine is expected during these times-but last week was a particularly bad encounter. I ordered a bagel and coffee to go on the phone prior to picking it up on my way to work in the morning; I come in 5-10 minutes later, and no one knows about my order-some missed communication between the phone person and the line person I guess. The annoying part was how it was handled-no one explained to me what happened-1 worker said to the other, "that must of been that phone call so-and-so handled". But nobody spoke TO ME and said, "I believe this is what happened, sorry about that, I will get that for you right away". I had to ask the person waiting in front of the toaster to please hand me my iced coffee she already prepared and was sitting right beside her. So I get my order, pay for it, dropped a tip in the jar to give the benefit of the doubt; again no apology, not even a goodbye. And then, the customer right next to me a moment later got a "thanks, have a great day!"
