I've been buying bagels at the supermarket all this time. What the heck was I thinking or smoking? If purchased fresh and consumed within 5 hours these bagels are simply amazing! I stopped in to pick up a dozen this weekend of which I found the bagels to be super fresh and absolutely amazing in taste. I'm not bagel guru, just your average bagel eater but after these same day bagels sat on my counter in their bag for just over 12 hours the bagels didn't taste as good as early morning. Best way to describe the taste was like fresh bagels in the morning and come evening when I grabbed one it tasted like "bread" in the shape of a bagel. I know that sounds insane considering a bagel is bread but it tasted like Wonder bread shaped like a bagel (with a flake like texture & taste). While that's my only complaint I'll put that blame on me for my lack of bagel storing knowledge. Would I stop here and buy bagels again? Abso-freaking-lutely! I plan on stopping by every weekend now but I'll buy less since I clearly don't know how to care for my left over bagels. I'm just an amateur when it comes to bagel storage. read more

It is actually very nice inside here and very clean, plus a lot of seating. I walked up to place my order and even though the counter guy took my order very thoughly and even asked if wanted to get something to drink, I sort of tell the guy had no passion for business and seemed bit dead inside and when after my order another customer rolled in he was the same. It's a nice place, you don't have be super positive, but bit more personable rather then the stare of why am still doing this, sorry for the rant. So I had turkey and bacon decker sandwich with no tomato and lettuce and on wheat bread. Positives, plenty of turkey and bacon and not too much cheese slices as cheap fillers. If you're looking for a friendly neighborhood spot to grab a breakfast sandwich and a cup of coffee, this isn't it. The gentleman behind the counter is one of the least friendly people I've ever met running the front cashier station in a business. I'm not sure what's going on in his life, but it must be pretty bad. The bagels were very chewy and slightly undercooked. I haven't tried them in over three years and today will mark probably another three year period. Where I won't. Unfortunately, it's the only bagel spot that will make the Bagel sandwich for you in the Vails gate area on Mondays. Recommend you drive a greater distance for a sandwich. Miracle Bagel is open every day except for Monday. Definitely worth driving across the street for that versus hot Bagel. Totally disappointed again. read more

I've been coming here for years as I live in town. Today I watched the owner handle raw bacon with his bare hand, and he just wiped his hands with a paper towel and did not wash with soap and water. He then he took my order and handed me my change with his raw bacon fingers. I respectfully asked if he was going to either wash his hands or wear plastic gloves before he made my sandwich. He yelled "I'm not making your sandwich." Then he grabbed my roll and threw it at the counter where his wife was going to make my sandwich. I again said to him that I watched him handle raw bacon with his bare hands and asked if he was going to wash his hands, then he threw me out of the store. I guess I'm not welcome back. The wife is very nice and makes a great sandwich. The husband is not nice, and apparently he's also a walking health code violation. This is a pretty good bagel place! Went here in the morning before a road trip for some breakfast and they did not disappoint. We got a plain everything bagel which was very good, a sesame which was good as well, and a sausage egg and cheese on a French toast bagel which was spectacular! Not many bagel shops carry French toast bagels anymore but I'm glad to see that they do! Prices were very good but drinks were expensive. OK so here is the honest truth about Hot Bagels: I have been coming here for years. The food, especially the breakfast sandwiches, are absolutely fantastic. Their bagels are fresh, the eggs and meat are great quality, and they have always had avocado even before it was cool. I currently live in Seattle, and every time I come back to New Windsor to visit family I ALWAYS go to Hot Bagels for breakfast sandwiches as many times as possible. Anyone who says the food is bad doesn't know anything about breakfast sandwiches. The other great part about Hot Bagels is the customer service. A lot of the reviews on here talk about how rude the man who works there is, and they give fewer stars because they want him to be "nicer." I think these people have it all wrong! I love how authentic the guy is, he literally does not take any nonsense from any entitled customers. He doesn't do small talk. He just takes your order, rings you up, hands you your food. I absolutely love how he treats customers, including myself, because I think its awesome that he is not being fake. He is 100% real with us, and I appreciate that more than I have ever appreciated any other customer service. And if I'm being truly honest, I get a laugh when a first-time customer comes in and tries to make chit chat and he totally shoots them down because he is busy, I think its pretty funny. He is an honest, hardworking guy who deserves our business and our respect. The couple that run this place, to my knowledge, are the only employees. The service is fast and the bagels are delicious. This place is like a hidden gem, tucked away into the corner of a small New Windsor shopping center. I had the pastrami, egg, and cheese on a French toast bagel and my husband had the western omelette. Both meals joined the clean plate club.
