I live in Florida but am visiting my sister here in NJ. When in Florida, there's literally only one bagel shop that my husband and I frequent and consider legitimate bagel wise. They serve traditional NY style boiled and baked bagels with plenty of flavor and a perfectly dense and chewy texture. Here in NJ we've only tried Victorias Bagels and now The Bagel Zone. After reading the reviews for the Bagel Zone I wasn't sure what we were going to get . What we got was EXACTLY what I'd expect when eating a REALLY good bagel. And the owner....sweet as a peach, helpful and seemingly happy to be doing what he does bagel business wise....excellent customer service in my case and trust me when I say I'm a freak about expecting / wanting / needing good customer service in order for me to spend my money at any establishment. We purchased a bakers dozen (everything, poppy seed, blueberry, cinnamon raisin and French toast). We also purchased the garlic herb and veggie cream cheese. So far I've only tried the everything and the poppy seed - both perfection and loaded with the "everything" and "poppy seed" seasonings (see pics which compare The Bagel Zone with ANOTHER bagel shop....the Zone takes it!!!!! Regarding my recent review about inferior customer service, I felt the need to post this interaction that was sent to me by the business owner on same day as review. In all my years of managing customer service, I would never imagine telling a customer to shut up. I am truly shocked that this guy is the business owner and is allowed to use the oven. Sadly, there will come a day when this guy closes up for the last time and will be wondering what exactly went wrong. It's your customer service skills, dude. For every minute I waited for a toasted bagel with cream cheese when I was the only one in here when I ordered and then watched 3 other people come in and place orders with cooked food and then get there's before me...this is absolutely insane. I definitely will not be back. read more

I have frequented this shop a half dozen times. Several times I bought a few dozen bagels to bring for work, I noticed that selection could be limited. Today is the last time I will ever come here. The place has always had hours starting at 6:30 am. Today there was a handmade sign on the door indicating they would open at 7 am. I waited 15 minutes and stood outside at 7 am. They went about their business opening the shop said something to me through the door (not sure what and unlocked five minutes later. Then the owner proceeded to scold me because "turning the lights on is the obvious sign that they were open" (rather than the sign on the door). He then took someone who showed up 15 minutes after me "because he had somewhere to be." When they finally got to me around 7:10, I ordered two dozen bagels and asked for an assortment. The owner proceeded to tell the worker what I could and couldn't have. I don't know of any bagel shops that tell their customers what they can have from among the available varieties but this owner is apparently one ("give him extra egg and plain"). In the past, I have come here because it is convenient and the bagels are ok. I once saw this same owner scold his counter worker for giving away certain varieties of the available bagels. The guy is an !$%^&*()*&^%$. I will drive out of my way to never give my business to this shop again. read more

These bagels are OK. I brought home a dozen and they satisfied our bagel craving. The big winner was the old fashioned french toast. It was fantastic. I am usually just a salt, garlic, or everything bagel guy but this french toast bagel was quite impressive. The everything bagel on the other hand fell a bit flat for me but I can be a bit of a bagel snob as a native New Yorker. read more

First time coming to this place based off of a recommendation from my BF. I had a toasted poppyseed bagel with butter and a side of bacon. We didn't go until the afternoon and it was so fresh and so tasty. They made it exactly the way I wanted it (toasted dark with butter on both sides). The bagels are very good, but.... When I'm 7th in line, I expect to wait my turn. But 24 minutes? This was a rough 24 minutes because I actually wanted to go behind the counter and start helping. For the record, the wait was not due to work load, it seems that is the pace of the employees. The guy on the register was filling the orders, and it seemed like there was no urgency. Don't bother. I was a customer for a year that would go in a couple of times a week. I've watched the owner be rude to customers for too long. Last weekend he snapped at my wife for requesting a bagel with just bacon... my 2 kids have an egg and cheese allergy, so it's what they can eat. Well, this weekend, he did the same to me. What difference does it make if I order a sandwich with or without egg and cheese?! It's an order. Hello world please, listen the owner Joe, act in a very strange manner every time i go there, he always has this weird way of blurting nasty random things when I'm placing an order i always ignored him. but 12/29/23 at 1:08:33, weird random things again, this time he gave me a good reason never to go back there This time while giving my order to the cashier, here he goes again saying things acting as if we were taking to long to place our order, now mind you no one else is in the store as if the line is being held up, the order took less two minutes. ok i get home open the bag my food all wrong, i called the store he answers the phone he tells me, yelling, BUT IT COMES LIKE THAT! i say but that's not what i ordered he went back a forward with that same attitude for awhile until i decided to say, ok you are right. I'm thinking I've had enough. that's when he said come back ill give you your money back. he said it in a laughing tone, matter a fact the whole time on the phone with him he sounded as if he was amused. Amazing bagels, terrible customer service from the owner specifically. The rest of the staff is pleasant but the owner rants and complains all the time. Sick of it. I can't go here anymore, I grew up going here so it's a real bummer. If you ask for anything specific on an order, he'll pop out with a nasty comment. If you get there 15 minutes after they say they'll be open but he's not ready. He'll start berating everyone waiting at the store. Not sure what is going on. Went here to grab a bagel for lunch and while the employee was letting someone out of the building, she rudely told me that they were closed for their own lunch- it was 11:50. I told her that I wanted to buy a bagel and she locked the door in my face. Shouldn't employees have their break on off times and not lunch time? Edit- please see what the owner DMed to me. They are open when they want to be open. Service is tremendously slow. They don't take orders online and no one answers the phone when you call. When you do get in to order if you order a sandwich that has to be cooked expect to wait at least 20 mins as their grill doesn't seem to get above 100 degrees. read more

Now THAT was an amazing bagel! Wow! No surprise they've won Best of SJ three years running. Was in the mood for a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese, so I stopped at Dunkin Donuts - something I never do. What a mistake! Disgusting excuse for a bagel. Tossed it into the bag, and later the garbage, after one bite. Further along in my commute, I noticed the Bagel Zone sign, so I pulled in. What a great decision. The bagels are made throughout the morning and had just come out of the oven. Soooo good! Perfect combination of chewy and soft. Variety of sandwiches and toppings. Fair prices. These bagels are perfection!! Im a New Yorker through and through, but I cannot come to New Jersey and Not visit The Bagel Zone. These are legit, quality bagels and everything is made in house. Bagels have the perfect amount of crunch and chew. A excellent variety of home made cream cheeses. ( Cannoli Cream Cheese - Oh Yes!!!) What really stands out is the amazing customer service. This is the worst bagel place I have ever walked in to. I went there at 8:35 am on Saturday 10/21 and they were already out of onion and garlic. I wanted a dozen bagels which should be a common ask at a BAGEL SHOP. The lady told me that he won't sell me a dozen everything bagels because he won't have enough left. I have never hear such an absurd response. Here's a suggestion: MAKE MORE BAGELS OR CLOSE UP. ALSO, TAKE DOWN THE MYRIAD OF SIGNS ON THE WALL ADVERTSING ALL OF YOUR DOZEN BAGEL SPECIALS. read more

This is an excellent spot to grab your favorite bagels! They usually have some really cool varieties of both bagels and cream cheese to choose from. I personally enjoy their blueberry and pumpkin cream cheeses. I also really like their breakfast sandwiches, made fresh when you order. They do have a small area inside to sit and eat, and there are some tables outside too. I like to grab a dozen bagels when I stop in and they stay fresh for a good amount of time. Wow, we've been eating at bagel zone for years. We live in Westampton, but still came there for our bagels. That won't happen again. After reading the lunch break review from Meghan that showed the very rude response from the "owner." Anyone knows that you don't give everyone of your employees break at the same time, especially at a key time like lunch time. It's important to take care of your staff, but there was a nice way to handle that situation. You put the closed sign up first, serve the remaining customers, then take your break. The Bagel Zone is a small, yet convenient, friendly, & busy breakfast place. It's fairly small, but they do have tables & chairs if you want to have a sit down breakfast. I usually order in advance because the mornings can be very busy & the lines can sometimes be long. Even if order in advance, sometimes it can be really hard to get through to place your order. More recently, phone ordering has gotten better. Nonetheless, it is a good spot to get breakfast from. They are open 7 days a week from 6am to 2pm. read more

Best bagel sandwich I've had in this area. Got a sausage egg and hot pepper cheese on a jalapeño bagel. Perfect. Also tried the Pumpkin bagel with pumpkin cream cheese, completely different but a great seasonal flavor. Employees are very nice, service was just a little slow, but not too bad... No one is as bad as Cinnaminson Bagel, that place is awful. I'll be coming here for bagels from now on. read more
