The Bagel Zone- plenty of everything seasoning and poppy seeds - so good

I live in Florida but am visiting my sister here in NJ. When in Florida, there's literally only one bagel shop that my husband and I frequent and consider legitimate bagel wise. They serve traditional NY style boiled and baked bagels with plenty of flavor and a perfectly dense and chewy texture. Here in NJ we've only tried Victorias Bagels and now The Bagel Zone. After reading the reviews for the Bagel Zone I wasn't sure what we were going to get . What we got was EXACTLY what I'd expect when eating a REALLY good bagel. And the owner....sweet as a peach, helpful and seemingly happy to be doing what he does bagel business wise....excellent customer service in my case and trust me when I say I'm a freak about expecting / wanting / needing good customer service in order for me to spend my money at any establishment. We purchased a bakers dozen (everything, poppy seed, blueberry, cinnamon raisin and French toast). We also purchased the garlic herb and veggie cream cheese. So far I've only tried the everything and the poppy seed - both perfection and loaded with the "everything" and "poppy seed" seasonings (see pics which compare The Bagel Zone with ANOTHER bagel shop....the Zone takes it!!!!! We also purchased the garlic herb and veggie cream cheese. Both were good but the garlic herb was DELICIOUS!!!! Fair price of $21 for everything.

    Owner feedback

Regarding my recent review about inferior customer service, I felt the need to post this interaction that was sent to me by the business owner on same day as review. In all my years of managing customer service, I would never imagine telling a customer to shut up. I am truly shocked that this guy is the business owner and is allowed to use the oven. Sadly, there will come a day when this guy closes up for the last time and will be wondering what exactly went wrong. It's your customer service skills, dude. That's why people will turn away from your business. UPDATE -- I have also attached another screenshot that Joey felt compelled to say after I posted the screenshots of our lovely chat. Posting it per his request. This man-boy certainly needs meds.

These bagels are OK. I brought home a dozen and they satisfied our bagel craving. The big winner was the old fashioned french toast. It was fantastic. I am usually just a salt, garlic, or everything bagel guy but this french toast bagel was quite impressive. The everything bagel on the other hand fell a bit flat for me but I can be a bit of a bagel snob as a native New Yorker.

Owner called me a crybaby because of my review, very classy

Went here to grab a bagel for lunch and while the employee was letting someone out of the building, she rudely told me that they were closed for their own lunch- it was 11:50. I told her that I wanted to buy a bagel and she locked the door in my face. Shouldn't employees have their break on off times and not lunch time? Edit- please see what the owner DMed to me. Good luck Joseph advertising that you offer lunch and being closed during most people's lunch breaks. Makes great business sense.

Now adding to the enjoyment is The Bagel Joint housed in what used to be the old pharmacy and thereafter sewing shop at #257. Most of the original woodwork and medicinal draws are still there. A few days after the snow of the decade the drifts and plowed piles of graying white made parking problematic, but I managed to back into a shallow spot right across the street. Walking in, the morning sun through the large windows made the room bright and cheery. Mike was behind the counter and greeted me heartily. He let me know that there was a special breakfast deal - meat, egg and cheese of choice, plus tater tots for the price of the sandwich alone. I couldn't resist. Cooper Sharp Cheddar, please, on Onion Bagel. To go. It was all still warm when I reached the office; so I settled in at my desk to chow down before getting to work. It was all very good and filled me quickly. The tots were more than I could finish. The transport had taken the crispness from the bagel and taters, but the flavor was there. Given my self imposed delay in eating right from the grill, I can't be sure that the bagels went though the boil/bake cycle, although I read in another review that they were produced offsite and flash frozen, rather than made onsite. I will leave that discovery to someone else. For me, I was satisfied with my breakfast and would return when time and circumstance permit. 4 Bristol charm Stars for The Bagel Joint.

I loved all the vintage photos of the borough they had up and the original drugstore woodwork on the walls. The guy who helped me was friendly and patient. He loved talking shop. Although he tried to talk me into having their "Slack Attack" sandwich - pork roll, bacon, sausage, ham & egg with choice of cheese and bread (good lord that's a lot of meat!!), I settled for a sausage, egg and cheese on a pumpernickel bagel. Their bagels are baked and flash frozen by Pretzelworks off Oxford Ave in Philly. The sandwich was a good size and had good flavors (they forgot my hot sauce request) and a light kick from the sausage patty. The bagel had typical rye pumpernickel flavor, and a balanced portion of cheese, egg and meat. If you like a bagel that's dense with a bit of a chewiness you'll enjoy theirs. I think they wanted around $6.50 to $7.00 for the sandwich which was fair. I didn't try the coffee, but it smelled good. I'd definitely return if I'm in the area and when it's warmer! Thanks guys!

The bagel was dense and fresh, but it was greasy on the outside. The hot sausage was ok, plenty of egg and cheese made it a sizeable overflowing portion. I just wish it wasn't so greasy. Second trip was a jalapeno and cheddar bagel with jalapeno and cheddar cream cheese. Again the bagel was greasy on the outside. Dense and fresh. The cream cheese and bagel both had little to no spicy kick. I wasn't blown away by either offering honestly. I had their "High Mountain" coffee on both visits (Hazelnut blend on one visit). It was standard java nothing bad, nothing great. The inside is a bit dated, but still inviting. There were plenty of people coming in and out so it seems like a neighborhood staple. Staff was friendly and prompt with service. The bathroom was clean. Bagels are OK to Good for my liking, they get four stars for having a good eating area, nice staff and a clean bathroom. I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Bagel Train in Yardley…read more Our elementary school was trying to organize a large breakfast order for a special 5th grade celebration taking place in a few weeks. On Friday, May 29, 2026, at approximately 10:00 a.m., I called to inquire about placing a large future order and to determine whether the restaurant could accommodate our needs. The gentleman who initially answered the phone was professional, patient, and very helpful. Unfortunately, the interaction quickly deteriorated due to the behavior of a woman in the background. While I was simply asking questions about the order, she could be heard repeatedly yelling "No" and something along the lines that our students would not be able to select the breakfast items they wanted. At that point, I asked whether there was an issue, as I continued to hear the woman in the background saying "NO." She then got on the phone, and when I asked if there was a problem, she responded in an extremely hostile manner that they could not accommodate an order of this size on a Monday morning. I thanked her for her time, said goodbye, and ended the call. However, after reflecting on the interaction, I called back seeking clarification regarding her rudeness, but an employee answered the call. When I asked for the name of the woman I had just spoken with, I could hear her instruct the employee to "hang up." The employee then stated that he could not provide her name. I then requested to speak with a manager or the owner. The same woman eventually came on the line and claimed to be the manager. When I politely asked for her name and requested to speak with the owner, she refused and responded, "For what? For you to bad mouth me?" She continued to refuse to allow me to speak with the owner despite multiple requests. At no point was I rude, demanding, or unreasonable. I was simply trying to arrange a breakfast for local 5th graders celebrating an important milestone. The manager's behavior was unprofessional, hostile, and disrespectful throughout the interaction. Being spoken to in that manner, hearing instructions to hang up on a customer, being denied access to the owner, and receiving such poor customer service while attempting to place a significant order was shocking. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this establishment. It is unfortunate because the employee who initially assisted me was courteous and helpful, but the manager's conduct completely overshadowed the interaction. Businesses that serve the community should treat potential customers with respect, especially when they are trying to support a local business for a school event. The refusal to provide her name or allow a concerned customer to speak with the owner only added to the frustration and left me with the impression that customer concerns are neither welcomed nor taken seriously.
