I'm usually doubtful when it comes to bagels in this area, but these are some real good bagels. I had the eight-grain sesame with butter and lox, and it was perfect. Flavorful and just chewy enough, with good quality lox. No sable is offered, but that's OK. They do have plenty of white fish. I also took an Old Bay bagel to go. It's dusted with Old Bay, and though I'm a fan of the seasoning, I didn't like this bagel. It would've been better if it had been in the dough. This bagel shop is pretty good! I've been craving New York bagels ever since I went but this is a good place to go to for now! My boyfriend and I decided to grab some bagels before our workout around 1 PM and they were on their last few everything bagels. So they offered us coffee for not having an everything bagel for one of our bagels which was super nice and appreciated. I got the egg, bacon and cheese on an everything bagel which was pretty good! For breakfast this morning I had an everything bagel with egg and sausage. There was no need to toast my bagel, as it was still cooling from the oven. It was perfect, and I took joy in my timing. I took home a baker's dozen, mixed savory and sweet. (In separate bags, obviously!) I can't tell you how difficult it was to not have a second bagel for lunch. The good news, though, is that these are not the gargantuan rolls-shaped-like-bagels that you find in a grocery store, so a second bagel wouldn't have been quite as bad as it might otherwise. The shop is small, but the staff keeps the morning line moving. I've stopped around lunch as well, and the line wasn't as long, but they'd started to sell out of the more popular flavors. Speaking of lunch, The Bagelry also has a selection of sandwiches served on bread. They are not towers of meat, but were well sized for the price, and were served and eaten with a smile. Oh how I love this place. The bagels are amazing and their whitefish salad is creamy and smoky which is just how I like it. They boil and then bake their bagels, which is how bagels should be done. They also sell their salads on the side. They lose a point for not having seating and a restroom. If I get there after a run or doing errands, I want to wash my hands before diving in to the goodness that is coming my way. Even a hand washing station would make a difference. read more

We tried this place for the first time today. We have been going to another bagel place on Georgia avenue for years and their prices and lines for bagels made us try the Bagelry. They have GREAT NY style bagels. They also take the time to ensure flavored bagels, like everything or sesame have seeds on both sides- which I love. Unlike others who ship bagels in, they appear to boil and bake in-house. We had their plain cream cheese, and lox cream cheese and had a flat everything (think flagel) and full lox sandwich on an egg bagel. I also spotted some chocolate covered butter cookies that were sold in little 2-pack containers which were just perfect. Everything we got was under 20$ and very tasty which would have been nearly double where we used to go! read more

I've read reviews saying that the bagels run out quickly, but when I got there everything was in stock. Maybe it depends on a certain day but whatevs. The only thing is the parking. We've been coming to the Bagelry for years as they've gone through owners, tried different things, and essentially ended up being a lot similar to the first time we tried them. The bagels are delicious and made as you'd hope--boiled and then baked. They have a little crunch on the outside and a lot of chew on the inside. Lots of flavors, along with bialys and some other baked goods. They have all the stuff for breakfast sandwiches, along with choices of cream cheeses and lox, whitefish salad, etc. But most of that stuff is pretty similar in quality to other bagel shop as far as I can tell (I haven't tried everything; some of these things may be made in house), so my review focuses on the star of the show. If you like bagels, try the Bagelry! My only request would be blueberry bagels the way they used to make them. We loved the purple of the bagel instead of a more regular looking bagel. I originally wanted to come in here to try the lox bagels but I saw that there was a breakfast burrito option which I haven't seen as a popular option in the area. I was pleasantly surprised how good it was because it was simply eggs, cheese, grilled onions, and bacon. However, everything in there was fantastic. The eggs were incredibly fluffy, grilled onions was awesome, and the bacon was perfect. I'd definitely come back for that. read more

This is a cute little bagel shop tucked in the corner of a tiny strip mall. You cannot see it from Randolph Road nor can you see it from New Hampshire Ave but you should try to find this hidden gem. So many daily made bagels to choose from. There are the traditional sesame, poppy, cheese and everything bagels but Steve, owner and bagelologist, (my made up word...but I allow any Yelper to use it!) steps it up a notch with pumpkin crunch and his own power bagel. Fruit and nuts baked into the bagel? Genuis! He seriously has too many to name them all. What sort of schmear are you getting today? Plain, lite or maple? How about Steve's homemade veggie? I hear he chopped everything by hand...get a chopper! Whitefish salad? Homemade. Lox cream cheese? Homemade. Oh yeah, they have sandwiches. Corned beef, pastrami, ham, turkey...bacon! Their coffee is excellent too, as they serve Chesapeake Bay Roasting Co. coffee. The Chesapeake Bay Roasting Co. makes amazing coffee while being as environmentally friendly as possible with the harvesting, roasting and packaging process - and then donates some of their profits to restoring the Bay. For lunch on a Sunday, I ordered the Zayed sandwich - hot corned beef and pastrami topped with a chunky cole slaw and 1000 Island dressing, I added muenster cheese, on really subtle seeded rye bread (not too rye-ey?). Great ingredients and a tasty sandwich. My wife was quite pleased with her lox bagel with onions, tomatoes, and capers, and a garlic bagel. It was advertised as coming with a side of potato salad, cole slaw, or pasta salad. They were out of pasta salad (boooo!) so I settled for the potato salad, and I reeeeeally settled, because it was not good potato salad and it was the second smallest helping of potato salad ever (maybe a heaping tablespoon.) I'm interested in trying their custom spreads and cream cheeses - they looked tasty. Weird setup to the store, tho. Two standing tables and 3 chairs outside. Not really a eat-in place. Has a small business owner, I hate to trash another small business. So instead I've been offer a suggestion of how the owner of this business could handle a situation like this once again. I have been coming here for well over 10 years and probably over 200 Visits. Today I came in a pick up a sandwich. I am diabetic and had low blood sugar and was short fused. I gave them a $50 bill to pay for it and was told that they couldn't accept the 50. The reason was they didn't have to change bag. As I left I said I am diabetic and have been coming over 10 years. I said I can't believe you are blowing off a regular customer. The owner came out and changed the excuse to 'there have been a lot of bad bills so it's not personal. Here are my suggestions so they could have retained a long time customer. One is to take the 50 and my phone number and trust me to cover if the 50 comes back. I've been shopping here for 10+ years. Second, let me take the sandwich and trust me to come pay with a smaller bill. I've been shopping here 10+ years. Instead, when it was clear I wasn't going to get my sandwich he offered to ' make me a snack for my blood sugar but if he eas going to spot me a snack, why not the sandwich which was already made. This place is a neighborhood staple, and for a good reason. Some of the freshest bagels you'll ever taste come from this location. The cream cheese is rich and tasty, the deli sandwiches are stuffed with the freshest ingredients, and the ruggalach is perfect. I promise. Perfect. The pricing is also reasonable. However, you have to know that this is the type of place to order food and leave. There are two tables (maybe three) at the most, and it's not very comfy. You should also know that the food is so delicious, you shouldn't care :) I prefer inhaling a Rueben in the privacy of my home anyway. There's less judgement. If that doesn't convince you, check out their menu. Who doesn't appreciate a good sense of humor?...and a bagelry that can offer a sandwich called "The Not So Kosher" gets a round of applause in my book. Seriously. I'm a fan of the "Not so Kosher" sandwich, while my kids devour the blueberry bagels. Everyone has different preferences when it comes to bagels but in my book these are pretty awesome. This place is particularly delicious. I am glad it has been around for as long as it has. I remember coming here as a child after ballet and piano lessons, and enjoying fresh authentic and homemade bagels. This is a neighborhood spot, and I would recommend their pumpernickel bagel with chicken salad. I enjoy it with onions, lettuce, sprouts, and mustard. When I need bagels for the office and don't have a million dollars to bless the staff, this is my go-to! The staff is so sweet, the place has regulars which is always a good sign and they have a wide array of bagel choices. I even think they make their own cream cheese. Now, I'm going to tell you a pro-tip, but promise you won't share... promise! Okay, I get there at around 9, and scoop up all of their day-old bagels. They have them in bags of half a dozen for a little under $4. $4?! I KNOW, RIGHT?! I, too, was shocked. They are just as tasty the next day and because they get eaten right up by everyone, even the picky interns, you're a hero each time. Ya welcome, don't say I never gave yous nuthin'. If you are a baller not on a budget (MustBeNiceCantRelate), they make bagels fresh daily, so you can get those individually, a half dozen or a dozen or more, splurge playa! This review is more difficult than others. I go to cafes and bakeries for a place to read and hangout on weekend mornings. With that in mind, I give this place at most a 3. The place was pretty busy, so it must be good. The bagel and cream cheese was good, but a little expensive. Apparently, low fat cream cheese is "flavored." They charged me extra for choosing it. The coffee was good, and the selection of bagels was good. I saw a lot of choices on the menu, too, so that's positive. The reason for the lower rating is that I did not feel as comfortable hanging out and reading as I do in other places.
