My wife and I stopped into Whitehouse General Store for a casual lunch after running a few errands…read morein the area. It has that old-school general store feel when you walk in. Small, cozy, and not trying to be something it's not. There are a few tables if you want to eat there, but it definitely feels like more of a grab-and-go spot. I ordered a half cheesesteak sandwich with peppers and onions while my wife chose a half cheesesteak without. The sandwich was a good size. You have to be very hungry to finish a half. My wife was only able to get through half of her sandwich. Since we were bringing the sandwiches home, we chose not to get any drinks or sides. Prices are reasonable for what you get. Service was friendly and efficient. You order at the counter and they call you when it's ready. No long wait, even with a few people ahead of us. If you're looking for a quick, solid lunch in Whitehouse Station without the chain restaurant feel, this is a good option. We'll definitely be back when we want something simple and well made.

Definitely went downhill since the last time I had it. I had high hopes for this place when they opened years ago. I would say you are better off going to salt and pepper across the way. I will try them again but hope they improve.

I've been wanting to check out this place for a while. I'm Italian and grew up going to mom and pop…read moreItalian markets since I was a young girl. K&S Italian Specialties reminds me of that. The minute I walked in I knew I came to the right place. It really took me back to those nostalgic days with those familiar smells I grew up loving. Everything is made fresh, and to order at K&S Italian specialties. I wound up buying their pasta salad, fresh Italian bread, imported dry pasta and cookies. This place was busy and I saw many people ordering their different types of sandwiches which are large. I love that they have a sandwich with chicken cutlet, broccoli rabe and fresh mozzarella. They make all different kinds of pasta dishes and they do catering too. As I walked around I noticed they have wonderful imported soppressatas, ( dry cured salami's) fresh pastas, and dry pastas, imported olive oils, balsamic's , Italian cookies, delicious Italian breads. Imported meats and cheeses. They sell beautiful imported dishes and platters from Italy. The staff is very friendly and a lot of locals come here. I highly recommend this store

When you walk in, they have various goods (e.g., olive oil, pasta) on the right wall and the meat and cheese cases on the left. There were several workers behind the counter so I did not have to wait long to place my order. I ordered the sub with lettuce, tomato, onion, oil and vinegar. It's normally a 20 minute drive home but because of the rain, it took nearly 30. When we got home, the sub was not soaked to the point where the bread was falling apart, which shows they add just enough and the bread is sturdy. It was just as good as I remember it. I wish I could find someplace similar closer to home but don't mind the drive back to K&S.

Eh, it was honestly just ok. When I bit the sandwich at times it tastes like a 3 star, other times…read morelike no better than 2 1/2. But I lean towards 3 automatically because I prefer to see business do good. I ended up getting the tooth fairy on a whole sub. My friend had the chicken salad sub. POSITIVES: Bread was good & fresh just like the cold cuts & Cole slaw. They definitely take care of their product. Presentation from how the sandwich was put together, & the Turkey portion was THE BEST. Not too much where it only tasted like Turkey & pastrami, but just the right amount to make it a hefty sandwich where all the ingredients complimented each other. Wrapping & bagging is worthy of mention, great job. NEGATIVES: It was mostly Turkey with a tiny amount of pastrami, like one slice, MAYBE two. The Turkey did not taste like it was a good brand. It didn't have a bad taste, it just wasn't great quality. It would have been a better experience if the Cole slaw wasn't drowned in thousand islands dressing. Since the pastrami was so little it really doesn't make sense to put that dressing on it. Some bites the meat & cheese were nice & warm & other bites it was pretty cold, that inconsistency threw me off. As for the chicken salad sub, my friend had better & also gave it a 3. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The young lady did great in putting things together. Seemed to be a great employee as far as performance, she may need a little improvement with friendliness. Can't say she was rude but a bit stand offish. Friendliness goes a long way. Overall, when you compare the price for quality, I honestly wouldn't come back here again. This place is NOWHERE near a 4 1/2 in my opinion, but I hope they do well.

The Little Place in Branchburg is exactly the kind of spot you drive past a hundred times before…read morerealizing you've been depriving yourself of greatness. It's a true hole‑in‑the‑wall diner with an almost comically extensive menu -- the kind where you wonder how they manage to cook everything well, and then they actually do. I had the French toast with bacon, and it was the kind of breakfast that makes you briefly reconsider every life choice that led you to eat anywhere else. My man ordered hot dogs with sauerkraut and coleslaw, and judging by the silence across the table, he was having a spiritual experience of his own. Portions? Enormous. Flavor? Spot‑on. Nothing felt rushed, skimpy, or phoned‑in. This place deserves more love than it gets. If you've been meaning to try somewhere new, consider this your sign. Be brave, be bold, and wander into The Little Place. You'll walk out full, happy, and wondering why you didn't come sooner.
