Catch of the Day - Tile fish

We never miss a visit to Baker's Table when vacationing in NSB. Don't sleep on this restaurant. It is unassuming in its strip mall location, small signage and eclectic decor. That said, the food matches up with outstanding food experience in taste, presentation and overall culinary offerings!! I missed photos of our starters; Soup of the Day - Crab and Corn Chowder and Potato Latke. The chowder had great flavor and plenty of vegetables and crab with each bite. The base was thinner than a traditional chowder but still very delicious. Latkes were good but I saw the foie gras go to another table and wish we had tried that instead. All of the entrees were delicious. Filet was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The Tile fish was beautifully prepared. Very light and flavorful with the fennel salad and bean cassoulet. The winner was the House-made gnocchi. Deep in flavors and the gnocchi melted in your mouth. Because they were made with flour (vs potato), they were like pillows of goodness on a plate. We were tapped out...and then we looked at the dessert menu. Banana pudding caught our attention and it did not disappoint. Beautiful layering of banana jam (think banana foster), pudding, wafers and whip cream. Great end to the meal! We will be back...maybe even twice on trip!

We love The Bakers Table and eat here every time we're in New Smyrna Beach. The food is very fresh and prepared perfectly and the atmosphere is warm and comfortable. Really surprising spot located in a strip mall. The service was excellent, the menu options are wonderful, and we were really impressed with the special squash blossom appetizer. If it's an option when you come, definitely get it! They very kindly split a main entrée so that we can enjoy more of the appetizers. The only reason I can't give it five stars is because they're not a full bar restaurant and their wine based cocktails are extremely limited. A little disappointing, but certainly not a dealbreaker. Skip the tourist spots and make your way to this lovely local favorite... thank me later!

Stopped in for dinner as a fallback from our planned dinner at Third Wave in New Smyrna. Unfortunately the Third Wave had a fire the day before and had to have an unplanned multi-day shutdown. Was pleasantly surprised that the Bakers Table was only about 10 minutes away and in a small shopping plaza on A1A. They had linens on the small cozy tables that were casual, and nice. Menu was small but varied with something for everyone. We had the fresh catch, the blackened shrimp with risotto and the chicken pasta with lemon cream sauce. They have a selection of non-vintage wines by the glass if you want a simple glass of wine with your entree. For sides we had the roasted Brussels, and seafood chowder both were delicious. For desert the three of us shared a piece of key lime cake/pie creation that was both tasty and generous in size. Service was friendly and attentive. If the wine list and offerings were vintage and similar to Third Wave's I would have rated it higher. This is a solid 4 star option, with competent and reasonable offerings. Definitely consider this place a solid go to option for families or for simple and comfy brunch or dinner.

Wonderful dinner last evening. We had reservations and seated immediately. Simple but interesting inside with friendly and helpful staff. We started with 4 appetizers, as they all sounded good. The conch fritters, escargot and potato latke were all good. The best was goat cheese tart. Absolutely delicious and could have eaten more. I had chicken franchise with angel hair and it was good and hot. Good portion size too. Jess had short rib over goat cheese grits and that was unreal. Delicious. We also tried the trixnat potato and if you like bacon and potato flavor, this was an excellent side. We ended with espresso chocolate torte and hummingbird cake. Both were tasty but the hummingbird was perfect along with cappuccino. Overall a great dinner and can't wait to return.

Wow! This is a must do! What a culinary delight! It is very rare that I eat at a restaurant and enjoy absolutely every single thing that I taste it, but this was one place I did!!! Everything was amazing! I was greeted upon entrance very warmly and seated immediately. Our server, Aaron, was absolutely phenomenal throughout the entire night. The restaurant surprisingly is in a strip mall, but don't let discourage you because when you enter inside it is elegant, well appointed and beautiful. They started off with a warm bread service with a salted Himalayan butter mix, and it was delicious. I then had the oysters Rockefeller, which were fresh and full of flavor. Next, I had the escargot and they were again an absolute delight. They make a homemade pastry bread that goes with them and it was simply some of the best bread I've ever consumed. Next, I had the ceviche and it was the best ceviche I've ever had anywhere in the world. It was so fresh and full of flavor and citrus and avocado and seafood blended perfectly. We also had the arugula Caesar salad that had the most delicious homemade dressing. For main entrées, we had the red snapper and it tasted like they literally had just taken it out of the ocean. It was light yet full of flavor. It had a perfect texture that was served over a bean mixture that was phenomenal. We also had the filet mignon and it was literally better than some of the top steakhouses I've been to. Not only was it a large cut, but oh so tender and marinated and flavorful throughout each bite. It was also perfectly cooked and served over delicious roasted potatoes and mushrooms with a sauce that is to die for. I also tried their collard greens and they were delicious and uniquely prepared. I've never had a tomato based preparation and it was great. Just when you thought there couldn't be more they let me taste the homemade chicken salad and it was yummy!! They have a huge display case with homemade desserts that I have to try next time because it looked delicious. They have mostly beer and wine, but they also have a few speciality cocktails. I recommend the French 75. I really cannot explain to you how good this place is ... you must go. This has made my permanent to do list and there are very few restaurants that make that. If you're in the area, make sure you tell them Michelle sent you.

You must have reservations, but this place is awesome! It's very nicely designed/ decorated, even into the bathroom that smelled like grape bubblegum. It is small, maybe 10-12 tables inside and a few outside. The service was exemplary....the food was outstanding. It is like every bite was a perfect creation of flavors. Everything was divine.

Looking at the other reviews for Baker's Table, you are going to read about how wonderful the food is at Baker's Table. It is. The desserts (at the very minimum, the souffle) are even more spectacular. The waitstaff is charming, friendly, and highly professional. This is a pricy restaurant, and reservations can be challenging. So, how can I possibly have a criticism worth deducting a star from a magnificent restaurant? We had reservations for a party of two at 7:00, indoor seating. It was too cold for the patio on a chilly February evening. What could go wrong? Well, we were seated next to a party of 10 eighty-somethings who were happy, jubilant, using voices that compensated for any hearing loss at the opposite end of the table. We talked to the manager. The restaurant was full, but he found us two seats at the opposite end of the bar. Once we were reseated it turned into a pleasant evening away from the shouting, but Baker's Table really needs to consider what kind of experience they want to offer their diners. Simply speaking, if you want to attract small parties that want a quiet, romantic atmosphere, you can't offer reservations for large parties.

    Are they s?till open?

Yes, they have been open. They added outdoor seating, all the staff wears a mask, and they have a high-capacity disinfecting air system. The food is also phenomenal!

It's the kind of place you walk into and immediately feel like you're somewhere special. The service was good overall, attentive and friendly, which we appreciated. However, the food unfortunately didn't live up to the vibe or the prices. My husband and I ordered the grouper tacos, and they were a bit disappointing -- mostly cabbage with very little fish, and on the dry side. The cocktails were $17 each (before tax and tip), which would be fine if they matched the experience, but they were served in regular plastic cups, which felt out of place for such an upscale setting. Overall, it's a beautiful spot with a great atmosphere, but the quality of the food and presentation doesn't justify the high prices.
