Love the food, hate feeling unwelcome by the staff. Particularly Liz. Assuming that's her name by the many other negative reviews describing her, as well as other friends and family around town having similar experiences with her. On several occasions she has been incredibly rude, spiteful, and unwelcoming. I genuinely do not understand why someone hasn't given her an attitude adjustment, or let her go. Came into Chico to visit my son and we came to Banshee for lunch. Older Bar atmosphere but the food was very tasty My pastrami was great lots of flavor and very soft bread. Caesar salad was perfect. My son had the patty melt. It was huge. He said he really enjoyed it. I recommend this place. read more

I won't hesitate to give this place 10 STARS! The Banahee could easily become an addiction. First time there was when I fell in love! The many vegan and vegetarian options were impressive to see. I first and foremost wanted to thank this establishment for the phenomenal service, the surprisingly diverse menu, and most of all for the kitchen staff! The folks in the kitchen seemed able to accommodate virtually any kind of food issues. I'm allergic to all pork products (not an easy food to avoid) and the kindness and sincere care I received was indescribable. The only thing better was the integrity of their food! She even turned the spicy watermelon margarita into passion fruit flavored. I ordered the Pastrami Bomb Sandwich. I'm ruined on any pastrami I will ever have in the future. This was the absolute best pastrami, with a velvety bacon undertone. The fries are thick cut steak fries and always great. Jacob had the Fish Tacos and demolished them. I will forever love this place. I don't live near downtown anymore so I don't get to go as much as I'd like, but I sure as hell miss my weekly visits! The menu is so delicious that I have a hard time picking what I want. I recommend coming with a friend or two to share with because it's all incredible! I think my highlights are the Fish Tacos, the Po' Boy, Fish & Chips, and the macaroni. Also a good cocktail list and rotating beer taps. Staff is friendly and makes you feel at home, and they're fun to joke with and talk to. If you're visiting Chico, don't sleep on this place! You won't regret it read more

Go for the food and beer, not the ambiance. I'd been trying to hit up The Banshee while in town for work for a few days now and had a hell of a time getting here before that grill closed. I'm glad I made the effort though. This is not really my style of bar. A bit more hipster and dive than I like, and also a bit loud. The service was good and all the staff were more than friendly and attentive, especially for how busy the place was. They also had a great selection of beer and liquor. The food, wow the food! First I had the Bahn My style pork tacos and wow those were amazing. Then I had the Braised Brisket Pho-Rench Dip sandwich. Which was amazing also. But the taco was by far the best, I would have to say if the taco was a 9/10 the dip was a 8/10. I hope to pass through Chico again to get some more of those amazing tacos. read more

came to visit my old alma mater and walked into Banshee because I love Irish pubs. The burger was incredible - cooked perfectly to medium, the fries the bestI 'va ever had.Server Hadly was completely wonderful, on top of it and friendly. SO good my old college roomie and I went back again and ordered different food, again it was completely stellar -the pho was outstanding and the homemade pastrami absolutely delicious, Hadly again was charming and sweet. I came here during lunchtime hoping to go to the sushi restaurant next door that randomly was closed and decided to give Banshee a try. I was not disappointed and I will absolutely be back! I had a tough time deciding what to have for lunch - Bánh mì tacos, bánh mì French dip, A Ruben - but ultimately decided on the tuna melt with cheddar. My sandwich was amazing! The tuna was fresh and bright and not overly drenched in mayonnaise. The ciabatta bun was perfectly toasted and the french fries... OMG. I ate a lot of french fries these were hands-down the best I've ever had. You could actually taste the potato. Again, they were the best french fries I have ever had... Ever! A man sitting to my left at the bar said he used to frequent this restaurant often but moved out of the area 10 years ago. He came back today just for the bánh mì tacos he said they are a must try next time. The couple to my right argued that the Bánh mì French dip was better. Great atmosphere, great service. When we said we were going to check out Chico, at least 3 different people said to go to the Banshee. And I'm so glad we did. This place was awesome. Big beer list, cool atmosphere, good service, and rock star food. I got the onion jam and blue cheese burger and it was perfect. Definitely get the Cajun fries. They know how to make quality food here and there were several things on the menu I want to try. I guess I will just have to go back! Don't skip this place when you're in town! read more

Had drinks and ordered food to go tonight-Christmas eve-eve...can't express how amazing the staff is-had a little mishap with my ID but Liz (she's amazing btw!) apologized and cleared it up right away. We ordered the pho and it was explained to us that we couldn't get it to go because it doesn't travel well, that was OK. We boxed it up ourselves and took it home, delicious! I lived in Chico for 8 years and this was my first time trying The Banshee! I went with a couple friends around 8pm on a Saturday night. The space was not too busy and we found a table easily. Although it looks like a bar it definitely caters to people who are there to eat, there was a ton of lighting and the servers were attentive. I got the steak and onion quesadilla and had the blueberry basil mojito as well. The quesadilla was actually very delicious with super tender melt-in-your-mouth meat and caramelized onions. The sauce on the side didn't pair very well though, it looked like some kind of sriracha and sour cream mix or something. The blueberry basil mojito was great as well, genuinely didn't taste the alcohol at all and it was sweet, but not too sweet. There is an upstairs area which I didn't go to, but it goes to show there's plenty of room to hang out. The food is a little pricey (for a quesadilla) but overall I would definitely come back! read more

I used to love coming to the banshee and interacting with the bartenders but after my experience with the manager Liz here she's ruined it for me. As I was getting off work I expected to go to the banshee grab some food and a drink but as soon as I entered and asked if the Kitchen was open Liz was nothing but rude and disrespectful as I asked. When I showed her my military ID as an identification card she couldn't read so I showed her my other ID and she had told me it was expired when it clearly showed the expiration date of 2029. Idk if anyone else has had a a bad experience with this person but if so wouldn't recommend coming when she's on shift or your night won't be as great as you expect it to be. Owners should really consider who they hire because if they get more people like Liz it won't be a good time for business. read more
