Banyan Tree has great service, great views and great aromas. We started off with the Maui Onion Dip. It was extremely unique because it had a super strong lemon (I think?) flavor. The focaccia was great and the Onion Dip was definitely addicting but still not sure if I actually liked it?? Super strange but was still happy we tried it. Next up for the mains, we split a steak and 3 sides. My favorite, by far, was the crispy Brussels. They were charred to perfection and the sauce/flavor on them was amazing. I ended up pouring the leftover sauce onto my steak. Now the steak.... The charred outside was great! Super tasty and flavorful. However the actual meat was insanely chewy. I almost lost David because he nearly choked on a piece going down. This was a bit of a bummer given the steep price ($95 for just the steak.. no sides!) Overall we had a fun time here but would likely not go back unless we had a gift card or something. If I'm going to spend as much money as they charge, I expect to be amazed.

For the majority of our trip in Maui, we stayed at the Ritz Carlton and this restaurant is conveniently on the property. On Fridays at 5:30pm, there is limited seating to participate in Chef's Table which is $150 per person. The day we made reservations, we were the only ones doing Chef's Table that evening, which was kind of cool. It felt very personal. There were 5 dishes. Chef Ignacio was friendly and came out with to explain each one and also check on us. The food was excellent and the presentation was beautiful. We left VERY full and satisfied. To us, it was worth the experience. We had the opportunity to try some customized dishes and enjoy the beautiful ambiance and views. Thank you to Chef Ignacio and our waiter Charles for the excellent service!

Solid restaurant. Good service and the food was great. I will say, they defidently over-hyped their Josper oven (if you don't know what that is, I didn't either), I couldn't taste a difference dispute the increased price tag.

We shared the whole grilled amberjack. It was delicious. It was a lot for two people- could serve four with appetizers. Our server was terrific- personable and knowledgeable. We got a fire baton and drumming performance on the lawn right outside of the patio where we were eating too! All this while looking out at the beautiful ocean. Everyone in the staff was excellent and friendly as well.

If you're around on Fridays at 5:30, do the chef's table! Incredible food, amazing wine pairing, and all-around wonderful experience. The restaurant couldn't be any more beautiful, but please wear flats! It's a quite a walk down from the hotel around the pools.

Lovely ambience and location is scenic and beautiful. If you have issues walking down stairs this may not be the place for you. It is down on the ground pool level and you could take an elevator down a bit but still have to work down several stairs and a long path to walk down. Food was incredibly tasty. Our service was great the first 2/3 of the meal but then our server seemed to disappear. We were the first table seated at 5:00pm on our day of service but 4 tables ended up getting out of their before us because we were kind of left on our own for about 20 minutes at the end. I know we are on a slower island time but 2 hours+ for the meal seemed a bit excessive. If you look at the prices beforehand you know it is a bit pricey, I'm not sure it was worth it for us and not sure if we would return but we are glad that we went! The decor in the Ritz Carlton hotel itself is something to check out. Complimentary Valet parking as well.

Had a final beautiful and delicious meal here before heading home. We shared a special appetizer of oysters and huge shrimp. My meal was the seafood curry which was exceptional and full of flavor. My husband had the mahi. Both were flavorful and beautifully presented. We sat at the windows which is the perfect spot for Sunset.

Having traveled extensively for business for many years I have pretty modest expectations for restaurants on property at a hotel. That said, the Banyan Tree is a pleasant exception. The staff is exceptional from the moment you step inside and did a fantastic job serving us. The menu is not extensive but is all appealing. They also have a very nice wine list which we enjoyed as well. The ambiance is fantastic. It's essentially an indoor/outdoor setup with views of the golf course and a beautiful breeze that seems to never stop. I will say it I s quite expensive but everything is in Maui. That said, I recommend.

I went here in 2023 when I was staying at the Ritz. The views are nice, and the setting of the place is cute. During the day this would be a great spot to grab a drink at the bar and see the views. The food was good. We got a mix of things to eat. We started off with the Hawaiian Ahi Poke Bowl and the we got the prime beef tenderloin and the banyan tree seafood curry. The staff was nice and got us a seat close to the fire pits. If you are staying around the area, give this place a try.

Banyan Tree was a top notch establishment that my wife and I shared a meal at on our Honey Moon while staying at the Ritz Carlton. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection and the homemade chimichuri for $8 was probably the freshest/best chimichuri I've ever had. Service was good as we were taken care of by Charles who you could tell was one of the lead servers. Ambiance was special - very cool vibe and our room was right across from the restaurant so it was perrrrrrrfect. I will say it's crazy how once it gets the dark, the view out into the ocean is pitch black which is pretty cool

We booked a table at the Banyan Tree last minute on our last night in Maui. We were served by Nick. Nick was on point with his recommendations, went above and beyond and had a great sense of humor. Though we were there late, we never felt rushed. Regarding the food, well worth the price of admission. The NewYork steak was delicious, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. It went well with the creamy mashed potato and the highly recommended cream corn. By far our best dining experience in Maui and that is saying a lot because we had some amazing food during our trip. This is definitely the spot you want to go to for a nice evening out.

Cozy upscale dining with the convenience of being a quick stroll from your room. The Banyan Tree provides that perfect "on-vacation-dinner" feel. Beautifully decorated with many plants and tropical flowers. The restaurant is open to the hotel and provides wonderful views of the ocean. Playful touches like unique, kitschy glassware added to the ambiance. The grilled octopus was divine! I ordered the Mai Tai and loved it! Even my kids beverages came in the cool glasses rather than the typical plastic cup and straw. My 9 year old son can put away an adult sized steak, and he really loved the 7 ounce tenderloin. (Said it was his 2nd favorite steak ever) I enjoyed the lobster gnocchi which actually had chunks of lobster mixed in alongside the pasta. Our server was great and made me realize that not everyone can be a good server. He was awesome! Another great touch was we were there on a night when they had Hawaiian cultural performers stop by (it was a Sat.) We were treated to about 10-15 minutes of drumming and a fire dancer. Awesome! Great food, but things like amazing service, beautiful decor, entertainment, and convenience of being right on-site make it worth while.

Fantastic service and amazing view. The food was good, but I don't really think it was worth what we paid. Our server was very attentive, helpful, and even gave us a complimentary dessert to celebrate our anniversary. It was a Sunday evening, so we didn't expect it to be packed but there were very few people there. Which was good for us, because it was nice and quiet but not good for their business. We had a late lunch, so opted to split a couple of apps, a couple of sides, and one dessert. It was kind of fun cooking the Wagyu appetizer at our table on the hot stone, but 7 small bite-sized pieces for $65 was steep. We also had the prawns appetizer, which we liked as well but nothing knocked it out of the park. For dessert, we had their take on banana cream pie which we enjoyed very much.

Food quality very good, We had an Ahi Tunaapp along with Maui Onion dip with Foccacia Bread (both were outstanding) I had fish of the day (Hawaiian name), my wife had Beef short ribs. Both were very good. We had a pie of banana crème pie which was deconstructed. I thought it was so-so, my wife thought it was outstanding. It was however $19 for a very small serving. Service was great, ambiance was very nice although somewhat loud. read more

Service was amazing but I am disappointment in my reservation. I was seated in the bar area, I'm not sure if it was because I was alone. There was a lot of seating in the dining area. As a hotel guest I felt like it was very informal and uncomfortable for amount of money I spent on dinner. I had a couple arguing next to me and other guests speaking loudly and drunkenly, destroying my dining experience. read more

This restaurant goes above and beyond. Ritz Carlton always lives up to its name. Customer service is top notch. And I don't say that lightly - previous customer service supervisor. Food was made and arrived quickly. Delicious flavors. The ahi poke from Pupus section is a must try. Delicious simply put! Risotto is very flavorful and great to share actually. My bestie had a mahi dish which was light and made to perfection. Our waiter even brought out sorbet for birthday dessert even though we said we'd pass on dessert. Love the attention to detail. This place has views that leaves you wanting to see Maui more. read more

Main restaurant located inside of the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua. I must say the food was more impressive than I initially expected. The service was good plus it's proximity to the beach offered a great outside eating area. Though, it was raining, it still made for a nice scenery. Highly recommend to eat here at least one night while staying at the Ritz. We chose the first night as we were too tired to leave the resort. read more

This was our final dinner experience while staying in Maui November 5-12 2022. My two brothers, along with my cousin and their spouses dined here. Regrettably each of us were highly disappointed with our dinner. We each ordered something different and all concluded the favors and tastes bland. Each portion was also quite small, but what's that matter when there is no favor. Fortunately every other place we dined at for dinner was absolutely excellent. We will definitely not return to the Bannon Tree. read more

Seared scallops (app) - I'm usually not impressed with the boring scallop, but how they prepared it was impressive. 2 big scallops, seared and topped with a creamy sauce, 2 tiny pieces of caramelized applewood smoked bacon, 2 spears of sautéed asparagus and a grape tomato cut in half. The scallops were very, very tasty and tender with a nice crunch to the outside. SERVICE: Friendly, quick and professional again. read more

Definitely a great restaurant for a decent family dinner. It located within the beautiful five star hotel - the Ritz Carlton. We called for a reservation before we went. Luckily the high stools table still have one opening at 7:00pm. We arrived on time. It was a long waiting before we can place our order. The beautiful view of the place eased our mind. People eat there enjoyed the sight seeing rather than food I believe. There is no more Hawaiian bread. Menu is simple. We each ordered different dishes so that we can try almost all on the menu. Garlic roasted ribs, NY steak, daily fresh catch, Hawaiian seafood plate, and crispy mushroom as starter. The ingredients are all very fresh. Especially the day catch fish. I enjoyed the flavor of the Hawaiian seafood plate with my husband. Everything is desirable except long waiting for food and bill. Toward end of our dinner. The TV commercial shows "phone sex". That is a bad fit for most guests there. Many of us have children. So I gave it 4 stars. read more

Not going to lie my husband and I were skeptical about coming to the Banyan Tree after reading some not so good reviews. I booked our reservation at least a month in advance. I'm happy to say we were so pleased that we actually dined here. For starters, the ambience was gorgeous inside the restaurant. Prawns and Umami to start - both were delicious. Not something we have tasted before. Lobster raviolis were delicious. The Banana Foster was out of this world. Service was great, valet guys were extra attentive. All in all 5 stars. Highly recommend!! read more

I enjoyed my dinner at the Banyan Tree! The restaurant itself is very open and gorgeous and the employees were all very friendly. It was a short walk past the pools and there were huge fire pits where we sat and waited for a bit before watching the nightly sunset ceremony up close. We had a large table with a lot of different food preferences and requests and everyone was pleased with their meals. I had the veggie crepe which was good and beautifully presented. I finished off the meal with sorbet and fruit over flavored ice which came MUCH larger than I thought with dry ice. It was great to share and also very good. I think it's a great place to have dinner one night if you're staying on the resort but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more

We had a terrific anniversary meal at The Banyan Tree. The staff was great, our server was friendly and knowledgeable, and the food was delicious. It was my family's last night on island, we went to eat at the banyan tree bar but missed last call for food. The manager Michelle Gott overheard us wishing we could have tried the food. She went above and beyond and surprised us with the watermelon salad. It was delicious! And our bartender Mike was great too! Really made our last night. read more

We went to an awful place for dinner nearby and decided to have dessert and drinks at our hotel afterwards, so we came here. Didn't read any reviews and figured they couldn't mess up drinks, but they didn't disappoint. I can only leave a review for the drinks and dessert, but they were very good and service was amazing. The view is always unreal and just beautiful inside and outside. I got wine and the chocolate dessert, which was one of my favorite desserts this whole trip.... and we got a lot of desserts this trip. Def recommend coming here, especially if you are at the hotel and just want a late night drink/hang out. read more

The restaurant was filed with beautiful orchids.Our dinner was so special! I requested an outdoor private table and we were given the most gorgeous secluded table with views of the ocean, fire pits and lush green grounds of the Ritz Carlton. We ordered the rib eye and fish specials, which were not only beautifully prepared but so delicious as well. We will be back soon! read more

We were staying at the Ritz-Carlton for our honeymoon and are so glad we made dinner reservations at Banyan Tree! Charles was our waiter, and was fantastic- attentive, friendly and not rushed. We started with the beef skewer appetizer and cocktails which did not disappoint. For the entree, I had the fresh catch which was mahi mahi. It was exceptionally fresh and perfectly cooked. The pineapple salsa was a great balance to the curry- this was the best dish I ate on Maui! My husband had the special of the day which was a snapper with a mushroom sauce and prawns- it was also delicious and a good size portion! We finished with the bananas foster dessert and were again very pleased! Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Banyan tree- gorgeous views, excellent service and fantastic food- highly recommend! read more

We ate here last night, and even though we were staying at a resort in Wailea, it was worth the almost hour drive. The restaurant is part of the Ritz resort and located at the edge overlooking greens and the ocean in the distance. It's open-air and very casual feel. We ordered the tomato and burata starter with lemon vinaigrette, then the seared Ahi and Hapu'upu'u fish special. All were wonderfully prepared and beautifully presented. For dessert we had the warm chocolate cake and their signature Ban-nan-yan foster with toasted coconut and rum sauce. The desserts were some of the best ever. Service throughout was attentive but reserved. The only suggestion is for the hotel to place some signage for the restaurant as it's not clearly marked. Complimentary valet parking was included. read more

Hipster food with outrageous prices! If you're going to charge this much, please make the food better than the Rio buffet in Vegas. We went for the December 24 dinner and didn't even get our holiday drink or Christmas treat. Never coming back. Two stars only because our servers were nice and they weren't the ones cooking the food. read more

Nice, delicious meal with good service ... We were seated in a side room with little of the charm we have previously enjoyed in main dining area. Folks around us were dressed for Applebees - t-shirts and baseball caps - which detracted from the overall (expensive, upscale) experience we expected. read more

The bar and restaurant are located poolside at the Ritz Carlton hotel in Kapalua. Friends of ours are there for dinner and raved....quite pricey but the costs are to be expected on a Ritz Carlton property. I spent many days there watching football and baseball. The bar staff is fantastic, very friendly and welcoming. The prices for cocktails and snacks at the bar are quite high, again as expected. We enjoyed fish tacos, nachos with guacamole, chicken wings burgers fries and onion rings. Recommended for a lazy day by the pool. read more

Went there with my wife for a honeymoon date. The food and service were incredible. I had the risotto which was the best I've ever had. The steak special which was perfect. I was struggling to do dessert but it's worth it as well. Can't wait to go back read more

Very average meal after taking the cost into account. Don't mind shelling out for high quality fine dining, but at $78 per main before tax and tip, the food had better be damn good but it was just mediocre. Not much tastier than food truck food. Service was good but nothing to write home about either. read more

My boyfriend and I loved this restaurant so much last year that we brought my parents and sister here! We got to try some appetizers and dessert this time and it was all absolutely delicious. The Lobster Agnolotti was so creamy and not too overpowering of a lobster taste. The Tomato and Burrata Salad was very fresh and the tomatoes were juicy and locally grown. For my main I got the Black Garlic Glazed Beef Short Ribs and they were incredible. The short ribs melted in my mouth and the glaze was perfect over the garlic mashed potatoes. And last but not least THE BANANA FOSTER. I am not usually a banana dessert kinda girl but THIS WAS INSANE. The sugared malasada was so moist and the perfect level of sweetness. The macadamia nut ice cream perfectly tied the malasada and the banana together, and the banana had this perfectly crisp caramelized sugar on top of it. And as always, the best service in the world-- my water did not get below half-filled the entire evening. Another perfect experience here and we can't wait for next time!!! read more

This is a Ritz resort... a company known for service and timeliness. We set a reservation for 8:30 for 6, weren't seated till 9:05. No apologies, no explanation, when I asked an employee I got a shoulder shrug and a we are working on it. After seating we were greeted by our server, multiple things our group tried to order were out... I get it, late reservation and all. Food came out bland. I had a seafood pasta with white sauce... favor was jumbled and busy. My wife had the filet. The sauce was overwhelming and the steak was eh... at best. The prior 2 nights I had dinner at 2 of the restaurants at the 4 seasons on the big island... I guess it was my mistake to assume that the quality and service would be similar here at the ritz. It felt like eating at Chili's after having great dinners at the 4-seasons. Had the not set the bar so high I may have had a better experience... but I won't be back. read more

Not that good we stay at the Ritz Carlton. Certainly up not up to their standards. Every time we stay at the RC we Try dinner at the BT Our Ono was overcooked, I had cioppino the base tasted like Campbell's tomato soup. Go to Merrimans, Lahaina Grill, Mala Ocean Tavern, or the plantation house all much better read more

Is this a good place for happy hour drink and pupus? They list happy hour from 5-6 with a fireside bites menu. I can't seem to find the menu. Our special place on Maui has always been Merriman's Point Bar. Hoping for similar here. Any music?

I would not recommend it as a true happy hour spot, it is more of a sit-down dinner place and there is no live music. Try going to just the Ritz lobby bar/ lounge! They have a happy hour menu with food and drinks! Not sure what the scene is now due…

They have valet parking which is always helpful and after entering we were seated quickly (you will want to make reservations in advance as they are usually booked). They have a great menu with plenty to choose from. Of course, I started with their famous Mai Tai which is always great! They had the menu printed with my name which was a fantastic surprise!!! Then, had a great appetizer called Chow Fun Noodles with Shrimp and Pork - a great choice. I chose the Lobster with Mushroom Risotto for the Entree which was phenomenal (pictures of the menu and food included in the review). Our waiter was the best and really took care of us as well. Desert was bread pudding - another delicious choice! We loved it here and can't wait to come back.

What concerned us most was witnessing what appeared to be a manager ( a gentleman) confronting staff about alcohol being served to our server while she was actively working. We had no idea alcohol was involved, but seeing this situation unfold in front of guests at what is supposed to be a quality establishment was unsettling and inappropriate. Sadly, we will not be returning to either the resort or the restaurant after this . The situation felt disorganized and unprofessional, and ultimately unacceptable.

Look, I downloaded yelp just so I could leave this review if that tells you anything. First off, my wife is hugely into houseplants (which I realize is an odd way to start a restaurant review but stay with me) and watching her eyes light up walking into this place was worth it before even getting to the table. This place is gorgeous! The way they use living walls the break up the space and soften it is amazing. Definitely adds to the experience. We were shown to our table and it overlooked a gorgeous bay. We were there with enough daylight left that we could watch whales spouting while we looked over the menu. The menu itself (not the contents, but the actual menu) may have been the biggest letdown. I'm assuming due to covid restrictions, the menu was online accessed via cell phone and qr code. My wife didn't have any service and therefore we ended up passing my phone back and forth to make our selections, not a huge issue but it did stand out to me as the only somewhat negative part of the experience. We had grilled bread and a delicious butter to start with (and they had gluten free bread for my wife who has a wheat allergy) and let me tell you I considered a spoon for the remaining butter. Fortunately my wife has more decorum than I do and was able to convince me otherwise. We then ordered the poké and taro chip appetizer which was wonderful. Fresh fish and citrus flavors that just melted in your mouth. For the main entrees my wife had the fresh catch with macademia nut rice and vegetables in a japanese curry sauce. She loved it so much I thought she might actually break down and lick the dish it came in when she had finished. I ordered the cioppino. I'll be honest, I did lick the dish. But only a little, when she wasn't looking. I swear. The food was amazing. The tomato bisque(?) that was the base of my meal is what all tomatoes everywhere aspire to one day become. The shrimp were plump and succulent, the fennel had just the right fresh touch to offset the dish, and octopus tentacle ended up with the consistancy not unlike heavy cream given form in my mouth. It was amazing. Our server, Ara knew what he was doing. He had recommendations for every facet of the meal and was nothing short of a fantastic host. At one point during our meal the manager even stopped by to make sure we were enjoying ourselves, I regret to say that I don't recall her name, but the main course had come by this point and I was admittedly very focused on using the artisan grilled sourdough that came with my meal to soak up that delicious tomato experience I mentioned before. Lost in the sauce, as it were. For desert we had the restaurants take on bananas foster, which happens to be my favorite. I won't spoil it for anybody, but I will say that I'm making a follow-up reservation for the last night of our stay on the island. **Incredible Dining Experience at Banyan Tree!** From the moment we arrived, the ambiance blew us away! My husband and I made reservations for 5 PM the day before, and to our delight, we were the first guests in the restaurant. The staff greeted us warmly, inquiring about any allergies, and escorted us to the most beautiful table overlooking the ocean. Every seat offers a stunning view, with the lush greenery and wooden ceiling creating a truly enchanting atmosphere. The staff was exceptionally welcoming, clearly possessing a friendly rapport with returning guests. Their knowledge shone through as they provided fantastic recommendations and were always attentive, ensuring our water glasses were never empty. A special shoutout to Lara, our amazing waitress! She was incredibly kind and attentive, perfectly balancing great service with our timing needs since we were celebrating my husband's birthday and had a flight to catch. The focaccia arrived shortly after we ordered, and wow was it scrumptious! With the 40oz tomahawk steak, we opted for sides of mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. While the Brussels sprouts were a tad salty (as noted in previous reviews), the mashed potatoes were absolutely divine--I'd happily devour a whole bowl! The tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection with a great sear, and the accompanying sauces were simply sublime. Exceptional service continued as Lara boxed our remaining tomahawk slices, packaged the sauces in cute ramekins for to-go, and even surprised us with extra focaccia to enjoy on our flight! But the crowning moment was when she celebrated with us by bringing out three delightful sugared donuts paired with luscious sauces--mango, chocolate, and coconut cream--to honor my husband's birthday! I cannot recommend Banyan Tree enough! The delightful staff, exquisite ambiance, and fabulous food make this a must-visit. Surprisingly basic ambiance for a Ritz-Carlton property. While I didn't expect a high-end restaurant our table was a battered, weathered, unevenly varnished table that looked like it came from a brewpub. The Ritz can't afford a tablecloth? Our server was polite, polished and professional. But couldn't they have put a candle in our dessert, as this was an important event that we mentioned when we made reservations. And the host who seated us said "Happy Birthday " as we walked to our table. But nothing else was said for the remainder of our meal. We visited The Bayan Tree for the New Year's prix fixe dinner with high hopes, given the lovely setting and ambiance of being at the Ritz-Carlton. The staff that were present were attentive and kind, doing their best under what seemed like challenging circumstances. Unfortunately, the experience fell short due to what felt like severe understaffing. Our meal stretched to nearly an hour and 45 minutes, with the kids having to wait 45 minutes between courses. My lamb shank and risotto were served cold, which was disappointing given the otherwise elegant presentation. While the staff's professionalism and the venue's atmosphere were highlights, I hope the management can address these operational issues to ensure smoother experiences in the future. We'd love to return someday and see this beautiful restaurant operating at its full potential. read more

We had high hopes for the Banyan Tree, but it turned out to be a letdown. The $78 seafood curry was disappointingly watery, with only the scallops meeting expectations. The $79 prime ribeye lacked flavor, offering little beyond the smokiness from the oven. To add to the disappointment, the $15 Brussels sprouts were overly salted. Despite the prime location and positive reviews, we left feeling unsatisfied and questioning the value for money. read more

Been there the last few nights for dinner. The first night we had the ramen and lobster which was good. The last two nights we went for happy hour and ordered the scallops, fried avocado, chop salad, mushrooms, duck buns and grilled octopus. Highly recommend the food- it's amazing and the happy hour prices make it a lot sweeter. read more

Dined there tonight. The appetizers were good, but the main course was not good at all. We all ordered a different meal, and none of them were good. The view is fabulous, and the service was good as well. For the price of the meal, it is not recommended. read more
