The Bar Method classes in Brentwood have changed my life! Before the Palisades fire, I had been exercising regularly at the Palisades Y. I loved the camaraderie, but never felt particularly challenged. When the Y burned down, I tried other YMCA programs, several pilates classes and even some yoga classes. Then, in mid March, I found Bar Method. Bar combines the best of strength, stretching, toning, cardio and restorative yoga all in 1 hour. And it is fun! I can take classes in the morning or afternoon, parking is free, and it is not difficult to sign up. I already see positive changes in my body and an increase in my energy level. Tried my first bar express class at the Bar Method in Brentwood this week. The staff was super friendly and I appreciated that they have lockers with locks. The class felt manageable, but still challenging and had upbeat music. Felt super sore for 2 days after, so the express class definitely still targets so many muscles! This studio does not require masks, which felt strange. Only a few people in a packed class had masks, and the teacher didn't have one either. Didn't seem like they wipe down weights between groups which was also a bit concerning.. The parking here is tricky for afternoon classes- much of the neighborhood has restricted parking after 6 and the downstairs parking lot is closed. I was told to park on 25th street. read more

I was not able to attend much during the Covid shut down but Alysia worked with me proving options including online and outdoor work-outs when I could go and pausing my membership when I could not make it. I was pleasantly surprised working out here. So, anyone who knows me by now knows I'm more of a "heavy duty" workout chick. Bootcamp classes, HIIT's, boxing, heavy lifting, crossfit... that's my jam. I've tried Bar once a long time ago and hated it because it was a little too wimpy for me. But after this class I was SO sore! Reason #1 I was pleasantly surprised: the staff here was incredibly informative and friendly. A lot of times these types of studios aren't that welcoming. They look at you with doe eyes as if how could you NOT know how their studio works and what the situation is. But here, I was warmly welcomed by the front desk staff who gave me the low down on everything before I even asked. On top of it, the instructor we had was incredibly attentive to me, making sure I set up my mat properly and giving me pointers on how to position my body correctly for different movements. Reason #2 I was pleasantly surprised: I loved the workout! I workout at Basecamp 6 days a week, play volleyball, go hiking regularly... so I wasn't all that enthusiastic about the results I'd receive. However, my thighs, glutes, and biceps were so sore just hours after class. Score! This workout really helps you tighten, tone, and lengthen muscles. You'd be surprised what you can do with just a ball or 2 lb. weights. The studio is small and I'm not sure if there's just one room or two. The locker space is tight to navigate, but what's new, most places are like this. This is conveniently located in Brentwood with plenty of street parking out front or around the corner. I don't often take time to write yelp reviews, though Bar Method in Brentwood deserves props. If you're chooseing class based on your schedule you can't go wrong because all of the instructors are highly trained and genuinely seem to genuinely love teaching. The studio is welcoming and non- competitive; if you're are recovering from an injury as I was, I think you'll feel supported and there is always an opportunity to modify for injury or pregnancy. The community is also friendly and there are lots of regulars which make the space comforting. I've taken classew with all the instructors, and again, you can't go wrong, but I've taken the most classes with Annette and Evan...Anette has excellent cueing, body awareness, and attention to detail while. Evan also has great cueing while infusing the class with humor and the fantastic playlist. I haven't taken as many classes with Maddi, though she has a lovely chill vibe while managing to push you to work hard. read more

I love coming here! I've been to several of Nick's 6am classes (Bar Express) because it's a great workout. Nick is an excellent teacher and one of the few people who can make me laugh when I'm sleep deprived on a Tuesday morning at 6AM. The actual workout is combination isometric movements with small weights which seem easy when you see someone doing it but it's actually really difficult when you try it. I don't think I'll ever get the arabesque down but I'll die trying.... Anyways, the studio is super clean and you have to wear socks at the barre. Although the space is small, there's room to change and fill up your water bottle. There's a bunch of cute coffee shops in the plaza so you can easily spend an afternoon lounging after taking a class here. I'd recommend taking this class as a great toning workout. read more

I can't say enough about Mimi Fleischmans' Bar Method Brentwood. The Bar Method not only gets me the results I want in the shortest amount of time, but I find that out of all the classes out there these days, Bar Method is the most focused and least likely for injury. Decided to stop in here to wait out traffic back into the Valley. Thanks ClassPass! I had taken other barre classes before, but was eager to try The Bar Method as I've heard such great things. First off, park in the garage below the building, not in the Brentwood Country Mart parking lot. Bar Method only validates for the garage. The studio is on the first floor of the building. There are plenty of lockers with lock/keys, a bathroom to change in and super friendly staff. The class was 60 minutes and challenging but doable. Since the class size is small (mine had 10 people), we all got individual attention and adjustments throughout the class, which was greatly appreciated. Compared to Pure Barre, this class does not move as quickly, but burns just as good. They focus on fewer movements with longer holds and repetitions of the movement. I will definitely be back for round two! read more

Whoever invented the Bar Method is an evil genius. One hour there flew by and after my first class, I can barely move my arms! The class consists of lots of teeny tiny little movements with very light weights or at the bar. As someone who has never been at a ballet bar in my life, I can now see how those dancers get those ridiculous bodies. In terms of this particular location, I also had a great experience. The lady at the front desk was really nice in explaining everything and even threw in a pair of socks when I told her I didn't realize I needed any. (They're normally $1.) The instructor (her name escapes me), was very good, very friendly and really attentive to each lady in the class. I was especially impressed at how good she was with names. She asked everyone just once and remembered right away. I need to learn her secret! The classes aren't cheap for sure - $22 for one class if you don't get a package. But they're running a holiday sale till Christmas, which you can sign up for online, and when I get back I'm thinking of signing up for their new member special, which is $100 for 30 days unlimited. I'm not a hooker but I'm definitely hooked! I bought a groupon (seems to be my main source of exercise creativity these days, aerial aerobics anyone?) for The Bar Method, Brentwood. 3 classes for $33. Not a big dinero saver but everyone kept telling me how amazing these "bar" classes are so I had to try. I'm currently debating whether or not it was a good thing I gave Bar Method a shot. It's absolutley amazing! I mean AMAZING. My body feels like a rock afterwords, I find myself catwalking through my house as if I'm Heidi Klum's second cousin. It's the perfect amount of time, an hour, unlike my 90 minute yoga class... after finding parking it's a freak'n 2 hour time committment. Ugh, come on. So this is where I wonder if I've made a mistake. I'm using my last groupon class this afternoon. And then what!? Can I really justify spending $200 a month to get in 10 bar classes? No. I feel like Charlie in Gossip Girl (a nobody who experiences the rich lifetstyle of the Upper East Side, but can't keep up with lies), well kinda. I'll have to say goodbye to my new rich stay-at-home mom friends and go back to my dark, smelly free gym at work. I've been around the block when it comes to Bar Method Studios: So far I have been to West LA, Marina del Rey, Hermosa, Encino, Burbank, and now Brentwood. Next week I will be in Pasadena to go with my friend coming from Claremont. So why am I such a nomadic BMer? Well I love this workout so much I want to share it with my friends and the best way to get a reluctant buddy of mine to give it a try is to get to the nearest studio to them. That's how much I enjoy BM - I'm like a traveling salesman for them and instead of getting paid I get some major tuck tuck tucks and burning thighs! #1. Across the board there is a fantastic energy and consistency amongst all studios to care for their students, learn their names, give individual attention and make the experience as fun and as challenging as possible. #2. For Brentwood specifically - it's in an adorable location - a bit smaller than other studios I've been to. Parking can be irritating (as is the case with many LA BM studios) and getting here if you are not local is a real pain. I came from Marina del Rey and cut through Walgrove to Cloverfield to avoid Lincoln...Once you get here though - if you're early -relax a little in the outside sitting area. Stop by Starbucks. Walk around and enjoy the area. My instructor that day was Kym and she was awesome! Great energy - came by multiple times to check my form and correct as needed. She was fantastic! #3. Do Not Park On Avalon in Brentwood...I did not read the signs and in my hurry to get to class I almost got ticketed/towed. Let me start by saying I'm a HUGE fan of Bar Method(West Hollywood). I'm in my second month and my body has changed dramatically! I'm getting close to being able to do a split, and oh yeah, I HAVE CALF MUSCLES NOW?! Anyway. . . I decided to check Brentwood out today, I realized it's in the same complex of shops as my favorite casual sushi spot in LA(Nagao). The location is much more serene than I'm used to, Brentwoods seems a world away from the hectic city with its quiet, verdant neighborhood streets and cool ocean breeze. The studio is next to the adorable Brentwood Country Mart which, in my opinion, amplifies the overall charm of the location. The studio itself felt a little bit sterile, perhaps because it's so new, I just think the WeHo studio is more welcoming but perhaps I can just attribute that to the fact that it's been "broken in". If you're used to the other studios then you need to remember these things. . . 1) There are no showers, only one bathroom, so plan accordingly. 2) Bring socks, if you forget you can buy them for $1 per pair. (the small location prevents them from having a washing machine, so they can't offer an endless supply of freshly laundered socks like you may be used to) 3) Put your stuff in one of the lockers at the front because there isn't a place in the room itself. Apart from that, the class was just as intense and wonderful as any other Bar Method :) Ashley is a great teacher, very helpful and really knows how to work you to your edge. Noted Cons of BM Brentwood? The social environment was perceptibly less friendly & relaxed than I would have liked it to be (don't worry it's not hostile either), also; the construction of the studio & equipment feels kinda like they haphazardly threw it all together last minute or hired some slipshod handyman who cut corners to do the job for a lower cost. BUT none of that really matters, I mean, do I think the Bar is going to come unbolted from the wall in the middle of my stretch or when I'm pressing on it during flat-back?. . . Probably not . . . .Final verdict? . . . I would definitely be a regular if Brentwood was my neighborhood studio! read more

The Bar Method is one of the best workouts I've ever had, and I've never been disappointed by a class. I've tried the various locations in the Los Angeles area, and this review is more about the Brentwood facilities than the actual workout. PARKING: They validate parking for $2 for two hours, or you can park on the street. FACILITIES: This location felt smaller than the others, and the work out room felt cramped. Maybe it was because the class was so full. AMENITIES: Unlike the Burbank, West LA, or West Hollywood location, this location charges for socks and towels. The cost is super cheap though, but it would've been nice if they went the extra mile with the amenities like the other studios. OVERALL: This wasn't my favorite location. It's not as easy to get to if you're not a Brentwood citizen, and the vibe wasn't as relaxing or welcoming. read more

A co-worker recommend Bar Method to me and I am thanking her for it every day I go to work! I L-O-V-E this workout. It's honestly my favorite hour of the day. I came to Bar Method after gaining 10 pounds since graduating from college. I bought the $100 monthly pass and I lost 7-8 pounds within the first month. It's made such a difference in my physical appearance that a friend commented on Facebook how fit I look in my pictures. The workout isn't as scary as you would think it is. You feel the burn and you will definitely be sore the next day but in a good way! And you focus on all of the muscles that a woman wants to work on. Arms, inner thighs, abs, etc. I also like that they offer modifications for certain exercises because I have a wrist and neck injury. The staff is so friendly. The instructors I recommend going to are Kristen Campos, Michelle Mathot, Jennifer Keyes, and Crystal (I can't remember her last name). They are all extremely qualified and do an amazing job making you feel comfortable in class. I always get such an amazing workout here. I highly recommend it to anyone. I was greeted by Erin, super sweet very welcoming and made sure I had everything I needed. The instructors echo the same manners. Even the participants of the class are super friendly. The space is large and the equipment is great. They also have little curtesy lockers. After trying both Pop Physic and Bar Method, near my house, I highly recommend Bar Method especially if you have any injuries or restrictions. The instructors are extremely attentive. I recently got the yelp deal for the Bar Method. After three classes, I was addicted and subsequently purchased the introductory special ($100 for 30 days of unlimited classes). These classes are amAzing and totally kick your ass. I've since convinced two other friends to sign up with me so we can whip our asses into shape. These classes are great for toning and working every single muscle in your body (that you may or may not have known existed). The instructors I've had (Kym is my fav) help maximize your workout by giving you personal shoutouts and form correction. The best thing about it is you get a high-intensity workout using mostly your own body weight so you don't have to worry about building bulky muscle. Although the classes are pricey ($22 for a single class), the first month introductory deal is definitely worth it. The deal allows you to go to other locations within the same franchise: brentwood, west los angeles, and west hollywood. read more

Had the worst experience at Brentwood location of Bar Method today. Took a class with Anna and she was rude/hurtful. Wouldn't let me/ help me modify the exercises that I needed to Modify due to extreme tightness in my hips and knees. Forced me to do the same version of the exercise as the rest of the class even when I asked to modify. I was then scolded by her at the end of the class. I've been doing barre for many years at many different studios and locations and this is the only bad experience I've ever had. I was trying this location because I just moved to the area, and it looks like I won't be going back. What a shame. read more

With the closing of Cardio Barre Brentwood, I needed a new barre class so I decided to give Bar Method a shot. It's now month #2 and I'm signed up for their Bar Star 12 (12 classes per month). I'm such a fan! The instructors make the effort to get to know your name and are always helping with adjustments to prevent injury and maximize your workout. This location is the smallest between West Hollywood and West LA but I love it because it's close to home. West Hollywood seems newer which makes it my second favorite studio. My recommended instructors - Marlene Okner, Kim Hoy and Anna Curtis are the ones I take classes with the most. I've enjoyed a few of the others but their classes are my favorite! All of the studios have lockers to store your things, parking is anywhere from $2-4 if you park in the attached structures or adjacent lots. I love it and highly recommend for anyone who loves barre classes or wants to try one out. read more

Beautiful, small, clean studio tucked away in the corner near Starbucks on 26th and San Vicente. Online class reservation makes it easy to save a spot. Expect a mix of woman (never saw a man in class) in all ages and sizes. The instructors are all upbeat and friendly and I swear, the hour goes by super fast! Don't go to this class expecting to sweat and get your heart rate up like mad. Rather, it is a toning class that utilizes proper form and small movements with light weights to isolate your muscles. After going consistently for a month, I didn't see any changes in my body, per say, but I was definitely hooked because it felt like I was doing something good for my body for an entire hour! read more

As an avid Weho Bar Method student, I was excited to try the Bar Method Brentwood and was not surprised to find that the classes in Brentwood are just as outstanding as the Weho classes. I took my mom to this studio for her first class and our instructor, Kristen, was kind, helpful, and made her feel very comfortable. We also got a hell of a work out and were sore (in a good way) for several days after! Just a few notes comparing the differences in the studios: 1. I found the environment here to be a bit friendlier than WeHo (that is comparing the students...the instructors and desk staff are amazing at both locations!) It seems to have a real community feel to it. 2. Parking is easier. You can park right in the Town Center's Garage and get your ticket validated. Parking was only $2. 3. The layout of the studio is a little different. It's almost a bit hexagon shaped with the weights in the middle instead of the side of the room. 4. There are no cubbies to put your stuff in like there are in WeHo. You have to put your stuff in the lockers outside the studio. WeHo is much closer to me so for now, I will be sticking with that studio. However, for those in the area, Brentwood provides an amazing environment as well. The location is definitely a plus, as there are tons of cute shops and cafes around the studio. I will reiterate my review of the WeHo studio-I truly believe Bar Method is one of the best run businesses in LA. read more

Bar Method is a great workout and although small, this is a fantastic studio! The ownership is truly top notch and the both the front desk staff and instructors are very friendly and helpful. The environment as a whole is very welcoming and not at all intimidating. As a former dancer with a few lingering injuries this is an incredibly effective and safe workout.
