About two blocks from Liberty Station is one of the best barbers in San Diego. The shop is set up for three or four barbers but Kerry is the only one there right now. You will get the cut you are looking for. I suggest booking online because he charges about 50% more for walk-ins, but booking online was easy and you will know the time and price of your cut. I got there at 3:45 for a 4pm appointment and he was finishing up with someone. I was done around 4:30 and the next appointment was walking up. Conversation was great, Kerry is knowledgeable about a lot of topics, somehow the military came up, probably cause we were/are Marines. Don't let the looks of the building throw you off. The parking lot is in the back but there are plenty of spaces. I'm sure Kerry will become your go-to barber 5/5!!! read more

Was thrilled to stumble into this gem, Kerry the barber went above and beyond. I had an appointment with a different nearby barbershop that ended up being closed for renovations. Found Kerry and the Barber Box on google, and super glad I did. While the barbers here are good, some do not commit to their schedule. Being a former military man, Kerry, you should hold time to a higher standard and understand 9:00 isn't 9:30 or beyond. While I had Kerry cut my hair before and do a great job, going back was a mistake. I showed up at 8:55 ready for my 9am. While I had scheduled my appointment on Friday for Sunday @ 9, the kid who called the day before for his first appointment was a priority somehow? I learned this as he enter led the shop at 9:05. At 9:30 when Kerry had finished the child's cut and this other one had sat in the chair to start his appointment, I was going to be made late for the appointments I had made with other people. I could not employ the same principles to my life as Kerry had to buissness. The inconvenience and late schedule was being passed to me and I had to leave in order to keep my appointments with others. Its not about the time as much as it is the principle. Integrity and keeping ones appointment are not cheap qualities in a person. They go a long way, especially in markets where it is a buyers choice. I don't want a free cut or a discount, I want this story to be out there. I want to give my money to those who make it easy to employ their services. I'm sad since I really liked Kerry and wish him the best of luck in his ventures, but I have no tolerance for this sort of business practice. read more

Unreal- I'm more disappointed in myself for trying this place again. I have tried on three (yes 3) occasions. Each and every time, I was asked to come back at a specific time- to again be told to either wait for a lengthy period because somehow others magically appeared before me- though I was given a specific time to return. VERY disappointed in the lack of professionalism and customer service when trying to support local businesses. Again, I'm more upset with myself. I obviously didn't learn the first time. read more

This was my first visit and I was really impressed. I walked in and was greeted by all the barbers. Even as a walk in I was seated quickly. The barbers are really interactive and friendly towards everyone. The quality of the haircut was great (didn't have them touch the beard). They do offer military reduced rate but I'd easily pay full rate because of the atmosphere and quality of the cuts. Also the offer of a free beer was great too, even though I declined. After first walking up to the barbershop i was a bit skeptical about how my experience. The seating was a little close, but the wait was very short. Although i paid 18 bucks for my cut, the detail and precision that went into the cut was far above standard. These kind of cuts are atleast 30 bucks and higher everywhere else.
