Thumbs up

Brought my 9 year old boy to have a hair cut. Their service was really fast! (After reading other's reviews , I believe thats Tom cut my son's hair). He took his time to cut his hair, listened to what and how I like, very friendly gentleman. This place is a gem. $20+tips, very reasonable. Thank you

Formerly Thom's Barber Shop in Ala Moana their new location, simply called The Barbers, is across from the mall on Kona st. It's in the same building as Taste Tea, Sweet Creams, and Manichi Ramen. The new place is quite a bit smaller and has a few less chairs (I think I counted 8) but many of the same barbers are still there and with a few new ones as well. I'm glad Joanne is still there, she's in the first chair on the right as you walk in. They've been open from February 1st, 2020 and like with any new place, they're still doing some organizing but the place seems pretty well laid out already. I'm not sure yet if their hours will be different but they did open at 8am this morning (Monday) which is great for me since I can stop by there to get a haircut after I get out of work in the mornings. One thing they did mention was the a/c for the building needed to be worked on so it doesn't get as cool as it should be. Until it does, I'd recommend going for a haircut in the morning hours before it gets too warm in the later afternoons. The shop is in the two story yellow building and the parking lot entrance is on Kona st between Ke'eaumoku and Kona Iki. There's a good amount of parking so that shouldn't be a problem.

Don't go to the "barber" in this chair!

Avoid the "barber" in the back of the room at all costs! I told her #2 on the sides and back but leave at least 2" on the top and front. She nodded like she understood. She ended up cutting EVERYTHING 1/4"! The thing is I didn't walk in with that style haircut!! Most guys want the same style they walk in with except shorter!!! What she did wasn't even close!!!! Even though English is obviously not her first language, I don't think that was the problem. I don't think she knows how to cut hair any other way. I would bet that the other one star review was for the same barber. I got a haircut at this location before from another barber and it was fine. I will be going back but it won't be a problem for me if asked to say, "Any barber except HER" (pointing to the only chair against the back wall). Needless to say, I am VERY upset.

Quick and easy place to get a man's haircut at a reasonable price. Quan Tran is the barber I prefer and has cut my hair for years. He does a great job and is very personable. This is a new location opened by the owner of Thom's Barbershop that used to be in Ala Moana Center. Although no longer in the mall, they are on a side street connected to the mall and very easy to get to. Even if you plan on just shopping in the mall, all you need to do is cross Kona street and bam, you are there. Not much has changed, just the location. Waits are not long if there is a line, but you can always make an appointment if you have a preferred barber. The location is a brighter shop with windows that allow lots of natural light unlike the old location that was next to the parking garage. Forget those chain barbers, you will get a better cut here at a good price. Those new trendy barbershops are way to expensive. Unless you are going for some sort of a fashion model look, keep it real and get cut here.

Shop hours.

Didn't find Gino, but... da Cut: Jaden sat me down 10 min. early asked a few questions and got to work. I could tell just by the way he was lining things up with a wet comb that I was gonna be good. He took his time, paused at certain points to have me check his work. Meticulous and precise he started up top w/ scissor work, combing, measuring snipping; really taking his time. Moving to the clippers, he was just as careful and line things up nice, taking 10 years off my old head! da Service: building has very little street parking, but does have a robot parking structure, supported by Valet; w/ validation, only $4!! No way you get that in Oakland. Penthouse HNL is on the 3rd floor, smooth check-in, already paid when booked online, super easy. I was a little scared, it was all young "kids" working; I'm not quite looking to be K-pop star. But Jaden had the sensibility to gauge what I was looking for and still bring me up to date a bit. Will look for this spot on the next visit... and much mahalos to Jaden for helping me "keep the old man out"

Blendhouse in Honolulu is a great shop, and Elvinse really sets the tone for the whole place. He's…read moresuper friendly, easy to talk to, and always happy to chat -- especially about jujitsu, which makes the visit feel more personal and fun. The cut itself was very clean, and the whole team was just as welcoming as the owner. Everyone there greets you when you walk in and again when you leave, which goes a long way in making the experience feel professional and appreciated. The shop is also clean and well kept, which adds to the overall vibe. Overall, Blendhouse is the kind of place that makes you want to come back. Solid service, great atmosphere, and a team that clearly cares about their customers.

I wanted to give them 5 stars so bad but couldn't. Got to…read moremy appointment early and was seen late. That wasn't a problem. I showed him what I wanted and he started with the first red flag I ignored. He flat out said that cut wasn't for me he's not sure if he could do it. I said do your best? When he was done the gel and combing style looked great. I noticed immediately it wasn't anything like the picture and my hair was cut short not shaved as requested and asked him to please take more hair off. The other stylist or manager was busy in the back then left to the" bank " Red Flag 2. He showed me the top. I love the length and say it clear and loud. He then grabs the hair length and cuts. When I reacted with why?!?!? I just said it's perfect, he replied My bad I didn't hear you. We are the only people there. I digress. His next client showed up and he started to get anxious about my asking him for more work. At this point I'm calm and decided I'll be back since he was being difficult. I called the next day came in and in epic fashion he acted surprised and lectured me on telling blended if I'm not happy in the day of the appointment. I tried to no avail so his remark already was red flag 3. He corrected some of it but pretty much made it clear after all this time- he didn't think the cut I chose was "right for me " and he didn't not "feel comfortable "because my head isn't the same shape as the model. lol. Is he for real?!?! Telling people no because it's not what you like is unacceptable. And for 65 bucks inappropriate Here is the picture. I rarely give bad reviews please know I had no choice on this one. I'll come back but not with Micah.

TL;DR Matthew is…read morefantastic! ----- This review is long overdue. I've been coming to visit Matthew at Mojo for over three years, and it's been the best three years of haircuts in my life. I have never been disappointed, and I am so glad I found Matthew and Mojo. Matthew's process is of the highest quality and is very consistent. Each haircut begins with a confirmation of my desired hairstyle. If I have any questions about barber terminology or potential changes, Matthew always explains things clearly and concisely. He is extremely professional while also being super down to earth. His haircuts are incredibly relaxing. So much so that I often find myself falling asleep in his chair. At the end of each haircut, he provides a handheld mirror to review the haircut and also offers product to style in case I am heading out somewhere after. I cannot recommend Matthew enough! And make sure you drop him a nice tip. :)

Still didn't turn out anything like what I expected. Seems like he just did whatever he felt like doing. When I asked him to correct it, he said he didn't have enough time. Also when I booked online it said $45 for haircut only. In store it says $50. Then when I handed Kyle $50, he asks if I want change??? Misleading.
