It was the first time I was boarding my dog, so I was very worried. I was pleasantly surprised at how much my dog loved it in the barking lot. I loved how carefully they checked the shots and medical history of all dogs, and the fact that they treated each dog individually and with a lot of care. also, they post pictures and videos of the dogs every evening and that made me feel SO MUCH better, seeing how happy my puppy was. read more

Barking Lot has helped us out with our dog Harrison. They've helped us find where Harrison can take the Canine Good Citizen test to become a therapy dog, and they helped us out in a pinch once when our in-laws couldn't dog sit for us! I take Harrison here regularly for doggie day care, as well as grooming. He comes back tired from a fun day playing with the pups and smelling great! He's admittedly an easy to work with dog that needs a basic bath and nail trim, but they've usually done a great job with grooming, since Harrison has thick black claws that are hard to trim. Overall I love the service that Barking Lot provides and the convenience of their location. The only issues are access to the parking lot on some days when traffic is backed up, and the price is slightly on the higher end. Otherwise, I have been very happy with Barking Lot and continue bring my dog there. read more

I took my dog, Cassie, here for a bath and a nail trim. When I came to pick her up and they brought her out, she was bleeding all over the place from her paw. I don't know what happened, but it doesn't look like the nail was cut too short. It looks like the injury was sustained above her nail. I made the mistake of thinking that a place that doesn't specialize in grooming would do a good job. They hurt my baby and I will never be coming back here again. I'm sure they're great for boarding, but definitely not for grooming. It's clear whoever trims the nails here has no idea what they're doing. read more

Our baby, Finn can be a wee bit difficult with other dogs and strangers, so I we were nervous when we needed to travel without him during April vacation. My wife and I looked at several different places before deciding on The Barking Lot. We stopped in and spoke with Cheryl and Jess, discussed Finn's eccentricities and made plans for a trial overnight. Cheryl sent us a text report and pics of Finn playing - he looked so happy. When we picked him up, he was happy and relaxed so we scheduled another night before the big 7 day trip. By the end of his trial run, Finn was part of the family. Cheryl and Jess took the time to get to know him and he them. They walked him and played with him every day and gave him lots of love and attention. The only problem....they loved him so much they didn't want to send him home. . We will never send our baby to another facility again. Our boy was safe and happy with staff at The Barking Lot and we owe them a huge debt of gratitude for giving us piece of mind while we were away. read more

Our 2 Bernese Mountain Dogs have been doing to Barking Lot for 2 years now. The employees are always helpful and they really do care about the dogs. We've never had any problems with scheduling, day-care, drop off or picking up, or boarding. We always know the dogs are well taken care of, and they come home exhausted in the evening which makes for a much quieter night in the house. Their groomers are reasonably priced for a bath as well. It is expensive with more than 1 dog though. read more

I had an incredible experience with The Barking Lot. I am so grateful that I am brought to tears a little bit when writing this. For the pet lovers out there, you know how much you care about your little friends, so you know I am not that weird :) I recently moved across the country, from Boston to Los Angeles. My two kitty cats were supposed to be brought out via a pet shipping company. Long story short, the company turned out to be a total scam and my babies were not safe :( Because I was across the country, I needed someone to help me get the cats to safety, so I called the Pet Boarding Agency closest to the original shipper. Steve rescued my boys. He put them in a safe place, fed them, put a movie on for them, and sent me pictures every step of the way. On top of that, he helped me get them back to California. He took them to the vet, bought them kennels, and even brought them to the airport. They are safe because of his kindness and empathy. I have never encountered someone who would do so much for two little kitties. In short, the employees at The Barking Lot care deeply about the well being of animals. This is the best place to board your dog in the Providence area, hands down. You can check on Facebook for uploaded videos of the dogs playing, or just hanging out together. The staff is very caring and accommodating. If you'll be late, they don't freak out. They not only run the dogs tired in the play pens, they also walk them regularly. When I pick him up, he's exhausted for a day or two. When I drop him off, he can't wait to get in there!! read more

This place shaved my Bichon Frise completely without my consent. They did not even have the courtesy of giving me a call to ask for permission. They just took upon themselves to go the easy way out to steal money from me. They still charged me $65.00 and did not even do his ears. On top of that, the owner did not even have the courtesy to come out and speak with me regarding my complain...My dog was shaking and very scared when I pick him up. This place is the worst place I have seen in seven years of owning a dog. As an active duty Marine I have the opportunity to live around this country in many areas and this place by far is the most irresponsible dog grooming service and the worst. My dog LOVES The Barking Lot. Always excited to go in and from the videos and pictures, I can tell he has lots of fun and uses alot of energy. Some people complain that there's no outdoor space for the dogs. Well my dog would be stuck inside my apartment all day with no outdoor space or playtime so that's fine with me! Some people also complain about the smell, but it smells like cleaning products. Which is also fine-shows the staff regularly cleans a facility that houses close to a hundred dogs everyday. Sounds (and smells) like the staff is doing a great job! The staff is very nice and know all of the dogs. My dog is shy around people but he is always excited and happy to go along with them. Took my Yorkie there for the day and when I picked him up he smelled very bad -like pee. He was in a room with other dogs and they never went out. Pooped and peed on the floor. My Yorkie was not learning to go outside. Reinforced his bad habit of peeing in the house. Second time was the same, he smelled very bad. Third time he was boarded over two nights, I didn't know it was possible for him to smell worse but he did and he was coughing. Next day took to the Vet, he got Kennel cough. Had to put on medication. Never went back. read more

The Barking Lot is a wonderful place where our "children" (the ones with four legs), can socialize and have fun. My boyfriend and I did a lot of research in the area to be sure our dog was in a clean safe environment, and finally we have found the place. We have often said that the hotels we stay in while we're away are not early as clean as The Barking Lot...hey, at least our dog has the very best!!! The staff is great, and there are always people monitoring the dogs at all times. My favorite part of The Barking Lot is the numerous pictures and videos that are taken everyday showing the animals playing, posing for the camera...it's hilarious. I often find myself looking on their Facebook page even when my dog Bristle isn't there...it's adorable to see how they all interact. The doggies celebrate holidays (Santa comes to visit at Christmas time!!!), birthdays, and they even pose with signs that say "I miss you mom"...it's cute as hell. Thank you Barking Lot for allowing us to go out for the day or on vacation knowing that our "baby" is getting the best care...you guys rule!!! read more

Oh my gosh, I can't say enough about the Barking Lot, its owner Steve, and everyone who works there. My dog LOVES it so much...It's the only place where my dog will jump up and scratch at the door (to get into it in the mornings)...he starts to bark as I drive up to the business, and he pulls me so hard to the door when we get out of the car - it is the ONLY time he acts like that! I had never had a dog before, and the Barking Lot helps me sooo much - with advice, etc., and also because my dog is so tired after his day of fun that he sleeps for most of the next 24 hours and I get a break :). My dog absolutely LOVES The Barking Lot. When I bring him in the morning before work he can barely contain himself when he gets into the car. He knows exactly we where we are going and goes crazy as soon as we round the bend on to Allens Ave. He plays all day long and is so rested for the rest of the night. Its great, he goes into a Doggie Daycare Coma when he gets home. I always look forward to seeing pictures and videos of him and his friends throughout his day. The staff loves him and always has a great report for me. I highly recommend The Barking Lot to anyone looking for daycare or boarding. The staff is very accommodating, friendly and kind. The facility is very clean and well kept. I have been in the back where the dogs play and have seen where they board. It is perfect and I love how they have a separate area for big and small dogs. The Barking Lot is a great place. They were extremely helpful to me and to my family when we needed boarding and daycare for our behaviorally challenged dog. The staff recognized that he was a tough customer and they were very supportive to us in working with him. They gave him tons of extra love and affection and it was heartwarming for us to see him so well-loved. He was thrilled every single time we pulled into the parking lot and was tired and happy when we picked him up. DON'T BE FOOLED BY CUTE PICTURES AND VIDEOS!!! EXTREMELY IRRESPONSIBLE AND UNSANITARY. Dropped off my 2 Dogs for a "Temperament Test Day" with the intentions of Boarding them. My 4 year old puggle now has a SEVERE Bacterial respiratory infection contracted from the "Barking Lot's" unsanitary and infectious conditions. When an employee was questioned, they stated "It's Just a Cough that's going around." My Vet told me this isn't the first time something like this has happened, and now I am stuck with large vet bills and may have to cancel a very important work trip next week, because my dogs' immune systems are now too vulnerable to be around other animals. Avoid at all costs, or next time it could be you! read more

I only toured this facility but I've experienced much better boarding situations. The facility has two different large area play spaces that are floored with rubber matting and then entire place smells like dog piss so all the dogs are lying down on the nasty matting It's really loud and noisy, not a surprise dogs bark that's what they do... Not much of, actually no outdoor space BUT if must be someone will walk your dog on the streets of providence by Allen's Ave. etc however I wouldn't want that god forbid something happened and my dog got off the leash or whatever that's a really busy traffic area and no grass or parks in sight. Staff are nice though. This is a great place for some dogs small dogs especially but other dogs that require more than a 15 year old dog sitter would be do well here just for the record... This facility is limited to what it can offer. Again great for some dogs but for other dogs that need a little more TLC... there are others out there...! read more

Horrible. Contacted the staff here in mid November to reserve a place for my puppy during Christmas. Completed all the requested, substantial paperwork (immunization, behavioral profile, etc). Contacted the staff a few days prior to the scheduled boarding to confirm some logistical details. Turns out, the staff had lost all records of my reservation and denied that I had ever made one. The manager I spoke to on the phone was completely unapologetic, accusing me of lying about making the reservation and denying all responsibility for her office's disorganization. Her incompetence and rudeness were shocking. Will never use this organization again. Their inability to maintain basic office organization and management makes me seriously skeptical of their ability to accept even basic responsibility for the dogs in their care. read more

I wish I could give them 10 stars. Long story short, I was out of town for a night and left Beaux and Louie at their regular joint, The Barking Lot. Cheryl got in touch with me immediately when she realized Beaux was urinating blood, and even gave me names to call to get him emergency care. Since I was out of down, I let Cheryl know it would be about two hours until I got there to pick him up, and it was past 9pm at that point. Cheryl made a bed for Beaux next to her at the desk, had him waiting for me and kept the lights on and the doors open so I could pick up my poor pup at 12am. She did nothing short of saving Beaux's life. I hate leaving my dogs when I go out of town, but I know that when they're at the Barking Lot, they are very well cared for. Their team is amazing. One of their employees even recognized me as Beaux and Louie's mom when I was out at dinner once! I love this place, and I'm about to leave Beaux, Louie and their new brother Diesel with them for a week. I know they're going to have a blast and come home exhausted and very happy. read more

I brought our Maltese to be groomed at The Barking Lot since our regular groomer was unavailable when we needed. I asked for a puppy cut which is very standard and straight forward (basically short everywhere). Our dog came out with the body trimmed but his head had not been touched. I had been very clear in my instructions that we wanted the muzzle trimmed very short. The groomer took the dog back and we heard him scream a couple of times. She brought him back to us saying there was nothing more she could do and could not finish the job. Our dog has been traumatized since then. I would never go back there again. read more

I found this was a really great place when I took a tour, but unfortunately I have seen many other dog daycares and The Barking Lot is well below the standard. They are missing so many things a dog park should have like an outdoor area. Also, the staff was great but I witnessed the boss cursing at one of his employees, I can't imagine it's good for the dogs being taken care of by stressed employees. Everyone knows the first thing when working with dogs is to have no emotional baggage, and they are apparently getting it as they work. My dog Bella can always tell when someone is down or angry and she tends to react in a reflective fashion. All in all, I would definitely consider this place if they had an outdoor section, a better location, an employee who stayed overnight, and more space. It smelled better than most dog daycares, but the customer doesn't need to care about that they're never there. read more

I have nothing but positive things to say about The Barking Lot and their staff. I've been bringing my dog Maggie to daycare here since she was four months old (she just turned one) and she absolutely LOVES it there. As soon as we pull in the parking lot she is whimpering and dancing around in the backseat, flying out of the car as soon as I open the door. The staff here are always incredibly pleasant and kind and it is clear that they genuinely care about each and every animal that they take care of. I love the pictures that they put up daily on Facebook of the pups playing around in their pens. It's great to see videos and pictures of Maggie running around having a great time with her friends. She's always EXHAUSTED by the time we leave, sleeping the entire way home and for the rest of the night. If your dog loves other dogs and loves to play, then The Barking Lot is the place for you! read more
