We would have been lost without TBM being there to help Kodi and our family. The entire team has been like an extension of our family and they have been there to support us in good times and bad. Time and time again, they have been there to help us. When we had a medical emergency that sent us back to the hospital for an extended stay 2 weeks after the birth of our son, we didn't know what to do to take care of Kodi on such short notice. I quick call to Kara, and TBM sprang into action and took care of him - not only walking him, but taking him out at the end of the night to do a last outside break, filling up his food and water and just giving him the love he needs. This freed us up so that we could take care of the human portion of our family. I love TBM! Although I'm not an NYC resident., I can personally attest to TBM's awesomeness and Kara's love for her and her client's doggies. I met her dog Lucca while visiting and absolutely adored her! She's one of the sweetest smoosh-faced dogs and is so well-behaved. I knew I wanted a dog, and Kara coached me through the important considerations and preparations necessary to properly care for one. Eventually I got my own smoosh-faced pup, Maximus (a Frenchton), from a breeder that Kara recommended. I love the little guy so much! He had some potty training issues initially, but after explaining them to Kara, she helped me work with Maximus to get them rectified. She also gave me some great tips for our walks, so he's not walking me... I'm walking him! Now, whenever I visit NYC, I look forward to seeing Kara and the CampTBM kids (dogs)! Kara truly loves all of them and treats them like her own. And not only do they love her back, they completely respect her and listen to her. I had the same walker for Baxter who got to know him well and actually helped train him into a better behaved, more obedient dog! After my husband and I decided to get a black lab puppy, Margaret Thatcher, we knew that we were going to need some help ensuring that Thatcher had enough activity and training. Several of our friends had been using The Barking Meter for their dogs and felt so strongly about how wonderful the TBM team is that we never considered trying anywhere else. I immediately spoke with Kara and she patiently answered all my nervous questions on the first day and every day since. We have felt like a member of the TBM family since day one and couldn't imagine feeling as comfortable trusting our fur baby with anyone else. So during my lunch hour, I'm walking south on 3rd Avenue during my lunch hour, and I see a dog walker with her earphones on, crossing 3rd Avenue, on 22nd Street (she was on the southwest corner, crossing to the southeast corner) . She has 4 dogs - 1 large one, 2 medium and 1 small dog. I'm terrible with dog breeds, so I cannot identify. As she crosses the street, the smallest dog, what appears to be a "lhasa apso" was laying on the floor, in the middle of the street. The dog walker pulled the dog by the leash and would continue to do it as the dog would just lay on the middle of the street. I thought, oh, that's not nice, I wouldn't like a dog walker to pull my dog like that. But I gave the dog walker the benefit of the doubt and figured she could not pick up the dog and wanted to make sure she makes the light before it changes. The dog walker made it to the southwest corner and again I thought the dog walker would take it easey with the smallest dog. Not at all. She continued to pull the dog up and forward and actually had the leash wrapped around her hand and didn't give enough leash for the dog to walk ahead or behind her. This upset me very much. I decided to follow the dog walker along 22nd Street, towards 2nd Ave, and saw that she had "the barking meter" written on the top-back of her blue t-shirt. I turned around and went on my way and started to search "the barking meter" in the internet. I found their web site and their number. I gave them a call to file a complaint against the dog walker. The phone rang and it went to a "Kara's voicemail." I left no message. The call was made at 1:08PM today (05/29/12). As I continued walking I re-visited their web site and found a picture of the dog walker and I took a screen-capture of my phone. I arrived at work and research some more and it seems the dog walker was "Kara". I am disappointed that a dog walker would pull on a dog, a small dog for at least one avenue block (as this is how much I saw and cannot say if she pulled the dog more than that). If this was my dog, I would no longer ask The Barking Meter to walk my dog. I am an owner of a yorkie and he is "lazy" at times. But you have to have patience with the dog, else do not become a dog owner, worse of all, do not become a dog walker if you're not able to walk a dog, without pulling them. My husband and I brought home our corgi puppy at 10 weeks old. Corgis have very sensitive joints, not to mention our little guy was so small and the city is very overwhelming. Suffice to say we needed a team we could trust to help us through his first very vulnerable few months. The TBM team was incredible. They put our minds at ease in so many ways. They sent us updates, worked with our pup on potty training and getting on a consistent schedule, and were extremely responsive whenever we had questions or worries. I have never used a dog walker because I work from home and am always able to walk my dog myself. Unfortunately, I was having foot surgery early this morning and at 10:00 last night I started to panic because I realized that I hadn't found anyone to walk my dog while I recovered from surgery! (Nothing like waiting till the last minute.) I searched the best rated in my area on Yelp and contacted three walkers -- The Barking Meter was the second one I contacted. By the time I finished sending the email to the third walker, I had a response from TBM's owner! Even though she was out to dinner she responded to me right away...she must have sensed the panic in my request. She put me immediately at ease by telling me she would be more than happy to help me with my situation and to let me know how soon I needed the walks to start. They were able to start with private walks for my dog right after I got home from the doctor's and even came late to give her a bedtime walk! They have done everything to accommodate me and they had never even met me or my dog before! Every other dog walker said they could not help on a last minute, short-term or part-time basis. I had to be a regular customer with a regular schedule of walks. While I understand this, I was so, so pleased by The Barking Meter's willingness to help me in my situation. They really went above and beyond and said they would work with me for whatever I needed. Now I'm going to keep them after I recover just because when you find a service provider who shows integrity and kindness you want to keep them! Not to mention in just this short time my dog loves her walker and wanted to leave with him when he was walking out the door. They are top-notch!!! read more

In the winter of '08, I was a dog-lover who had never owned a dog and was hesitant to commit to the responsibility.
