I have been very pleased with Happy Dogs on 1st avenue. I appreciated the tour of the location with Jen where all of my questions were answered and I allowed me to see the staff in action. The starter packs provides a low investment opportunity to try both day care and boarding. I was nervous about day care as my pup is a teacup and gets nervous around groups of dogs. But the staff helped ease her into the environment. And I appreciate how they alternate her time between the tiny dog area and the general area based on her energy level and mood! read more

When my girlfriend and I were adopting our dog Leo we asked the folks at the rescue if they recommended any doggy daycares we could look at for Leo when we both had to be in the office, and without hesitating they told us to check Happy Dog NYC & that they wee a great operation with numerous locations. We looked then up and saw they had a nearby location at 23rd & 1st in Manhattan; they not only offered Leo a free day of daycare after passing the mandatory behavioral assessment, but also had great promotional pricing for his first 3 daycare visits. Their staff is very responsive, and are genuinely caring & thoughtful with your pet. Our little guy always looks forward to visiting his friends at Happy Dog daycare and we feel good knowing that he will be safe and taken care of during his time there. We were waiting for our mini dachshund Romeo to get neutered before taking him to Happy Dogs. Now that he is 1 years old and has been neutered, we finally decided to try the daycare, and we have been so impressed. The owner Jen gave us a detailed tour ahead of Romeo's temperament evaluation, and she answered all of our questions and made us feel comfortable. From the very first day Romeo visited for a full day of day care, we have been so happy with the staff and know Romeo gets a full day of play and enrichment with his pals - coming home exhausted. He now comes regularly at least 1x a week. We know Romeo loves it here because even when we walk by and aren't dropping him off, he charges towards the door because he can't wait to return. Throughout the day, we'll even check the camera and see Romeo playing with or resting with other dogs. The daycare gets busy, but the staff is on top of it and laser-focused on the pups. So long as we're in the area and continue to have this great experience, Romeo will continue to be a pack member at Happy Dogs and we would enthusiastically recommend it here. read more

Coming from South Lousiana I was worried Luna wouldn't find a place to get some energy out, but happy dogs has stomped that worry away! Luna has always been pretty timid around other dogs, but loves to go to day care! She comes home tired and has even shown signs of playfulness with other dogs that she hasn't in years! One odd thing is that the dogs potty inside (which is cleaned immediately, but I find odd and not sure Luna actually potty's during the day)‍ The staff is quick to answer their emails and is quick on pick up and drop off! Zetty loves to "go to school" aka Happy Dogs! We take her here for both boarding and day care and she's always excited to see the staff when we drop her off. You are able to see how your dog is doing during the time your dog is in day care (but cameras will close when day care closes). It's pretty nice to have access to view this so you can check on your pup when you miss them or see how the staff treats all the pups (if you're a worried first time pup parent like we were). I appreciate the staff and how caring they are to our pups! Around the holidays, our sweet pup Zetty got wounded on the snout by another dog and they immediately called us to let us know about the situation and kept us updated throughout the day and during our time boarding Zetty. I was definitely vocal on my concerns with the dog that bit her since it was a big bite wound and the staff ensured the dog would be supervised and put on probation if they reacted like that with another dog. [FYI this place has a behavioral test for the dog to be allowed here so chances of your dog being injured are very slim]. But the reason why I note this injury update is that this team goes above and beyond to make sure our pup is okay. Even after a few days after Zetty's dog boarding they checked back which I really appreciated a ton. Zetty has been back at Happy Dogs and still wags her tail when she's arrived in front of their entrance! Also we love the pupdates we receive from Happy Dogs (attached)! We get these from our boarding days and both Josh and I have a collection of Happy Dog pupdates on our phone! read more

Happy Dogs has been great with our dog. The multi-trip passes save us money, and having the ability to watch him on their live cams is great. They recently added an option to take the dogs for a walk, which is very helpful for our high energy dog. My puppy was seriously harmed at Happy Dogs. I was told my dog went up to a dog who didn't want to be approached and scratched his eye. HE WAS NOT THE AGGRESSOR. I was informed of the incident by email which I found appalling. I went to Happy Dogs as soon as I could and asked the employee why Ollie wasn't being watched and the employee admitted her back was turned which begs the question why are dogs being placed in an environment where they are not being supervised or watched. When I asked management why I wasn't called right away, I was told that the day care had an "email first" policy. The owner Ien Cheng did not bother to call me until two days after the incident but I did get an email from him while Ollie was in the ER the day of the incident to potentially have his eye stitched and sedated and was quoted the waiver I signed upon admitting Ollie, demonstrating a callous disregard for my pet's health and our client relationship. I do not recommend this place as there are dangerous and reactive dogs here that are not being properly supervised. read more

The absolute best dog daycare and boarding in NYC! I have been a customer of Happy Dogs for 4+ years and have used all of their services over that time. The owners and employees impress me constantly with how much they genuinely care for my dog like she's their own. My dog has the best time playing with her friends in spacious indoor play areas, as well as on the outdoor patio. I love the cage-free boarding facility and the option to watch my dog on the cameras when I miss her. I truly feel at peace when she's at Happy Dogs, as I know that she's getting the best care! Their safety and cleanliness standards are the absolute best I've seen out of the 8+ boarding facilities that we've tried over her young life in multiple cities.
