Usually, I didn't have any trouble with this place, but today, things turned around. I made an appointment for my dog's grooming with a person who always grooms him. First, I was surprised when he was given to a different person. They called me after a relatively short time to pick him up. Upon seeing him, I was shocked to see that my dog had not been groomed; they had just bathed and brushed him. They made a mistake and scheduled him only for that service. On top of everything, they said they might give me some credit for today's service, but they are not sure. The manager will call me today. So, despite their mistake, I would have to pay twice for the same service. Then, I get three different pieces of information about his appointment tomorrow. And, of course, the manager will not call me today but sometime tomorrow before his appointment. This is a complete mismanagement. read more

Had my Puppy groomed here. It was highly recommended by folks in the dog park. Her second time at a groomers. Front desk staff was lovely. Cut came out according to our specifications she looked good. My one issue is that twice it was communicated to me that our puppy (5 months old) squirmed a lot and made it hard on the groomer. This made me feel like 1) they were judging my pup. And 2) that the groomer wasn't skilled enough or dog friendly enough to handle a puppy who BTW was all of 6 lbs. My dog was previously going to the Dumbo location, but since I started a new job I needed to find another location. I was so happy when I found out about their location in SoHo. Today was his second day, and I brought up a small concern I had. I don't remember the employee's name, but she was very understanding and receptive. When I went to pick him up after work, they let me know he didn't eat today after multiple attempts (no worries - he's a picky eater sometimes). I really like that they communicate things like this. I used to bring my two dogs to this daycare since they were puppies and they loved it. recently they have changed managements and it has gone downhill. none of the old staff work here, they blocked off the windows so you can't see the dogs, i've heard them yelling at the dogs while i was there AND it reeks of pee like they don't clean the space anymore. I watched them put my dog's harnesses on them and they were very aggressive. i do not recommend bringing your dogs here, they have no care for their work anymore and it is incredibly expensive for terrible service. sad that it's changed so much... read more

Really great business, we come for baths and grooming but they have boarding and daycare too. The baths are really convenient and they also brush his teeth which is hard for me. His groomer always does a great job. He come soften so he doesn't get matted and shaved. Really recommend! read more

A long overdue review for anyone considering doggie daycares... Let me tell you from experience not all are created equal! Years ago we moved to NY from CA with an elderly dog. If you've ever had an elderly dog, you know they require a different type of care! We hired a dog walker to come twice a day while we were at work. I once came home early and was surprised to find this walker sitting on my couch with all of her college homework spread out. Definitely was not walking my dog! I immediately called the company and requested a new walker. They assured me something like this was rare and would never happen again. I was assigned a new walker. One week later and I just wasn't trusting it. So, like any suspicious one does! I sat across the street one day and watched! To my dismay, I saw a walker arrive, go inside, and sit in my appt for a full 30 min. I then saw them come out with my dog and merely walk her 5ft from the front door and then turn around and put her back inside. She wasn't even outside for 2 min. My dog genuinely looked sad and it was heartbreaking that a company catered towards caring for pets could care so little about animals. After our sweet old dog passed, 2 years later we were finally reading for pet owner life again! I really wanted a fresh start with a young puppy. Found an awesome little puppy to adopt named Bernie. This time around, we were going to be picky with who was caring for our dog and who we were giving keys to our apartment to. We walked to a few doggie daycares but they left us feeling uneasy. They were either dirty or chaotic or just unorganized etc. As we walked home defeated we saw someone with a puppy and luckily asked them if they could recommend a place. They told us about Pupculture and we walked straight over to them. First impression! It was clean! It wasn't filled with crazy loud out of control dogs barking. The employees were all very nice. Then we discovered that they do extra things, like take dogs out regularly for walks to keep up with their potty training instead of just letting them pee inside like some places do. And, it was affordable. We signed up right away. So, 5 days a week, they came and picked up our dog, took her to daycare, and brought her home. Trust me- after our last experience I spied in the beginning! Literally every single person that came to get her treated her as if it's their own beloved dog. So kind and patient and just plain loving. And, they even care for your apartment. If it's raining for instance, they'll dry her off when dropping off, etc. Bernie is now 6 years old and I can honestly say she would not be the happy go lucky socialized doggie if it wasn't for Pupculture. On the days I am home when they pick her up, she runs towards them with such excitement to leave it's actually adorable. She truly loves them all! We've used them for doggie daycare, boarding, and baths and everything has been great. They go out of their way for every accommodation. It is so nice to have someone you trust with both your dog and also your apartment! No need for spying is a great thing!! To anyone looking for a doggie daycare I can't recommend Pupculture enough! You and your dog will be much better for it! read more

This place does not provide a safe and healthy environment for dogs. It is extremely small and packed with dogs. My fully vaccinated puppy got kennel cough there after just one visit! He developed symptoms 4 days after he went there and needed antibiotics. I brought my 4-month-old puppy here for an initial full day evaluation. Before scheduling to come in, I called the place and asked them if they take puppies who are not fully trained and if they have other puppy clients at the facility. The person on the phone said yes. I made sure to mention to her multiple times that my puppy is not fully trained. She said just bring him in. When we came in, he was ushered in swiftly without even being greeted. As he was walking in the dogs inside were barking at him and I got a glimpse of the place. It was small and had areas that were literally the size of my kitchen (I live in a small studio apartment in Soho) with 5 large dogs in there, all barking. When I came to pick him up, they told me he didn't pass any of their tests. Was not well behaved, was barking at other dogs, didn't know his name or follow commands. He didn't pass the crate test either, as he appeared very disturbed when they put him in a crate (he sleeps in a crate at home overnight without any issues). I am not saying that my puppy is perfectly well behaved. He is a puppy and not fully trained, nor does he know how to walk on a leash yet. My main issue is that I asked them if they accepted puppies and they said yes. I have hard time to believe other 16-week-old dogs know all the commands and are not intimidated by big dogs barking at them in a small space. They simply do not care for dogs and will only accept your dog if it is fully trained and extremely well behaved. They don't want dogs barking or being easily disturbed by other dogs in their tight quarters. While I was waiting to pick him up, a gentleman next to me was picking up his dog. His dog came out wearing another dog's jacket!! He was surprised and when I asked him how long he has been using this facility he said, this was not the first time they screwed up. The staff explained that the dog whose jacket that was had the same name apparently. They have too many dogs and can't keep track of them. Following this, my dog was accepted to another daycare facility with no issues. They said he responded to his name, understood basic commands and played with other dogs nicely. It is a money-making place where they do not care about your dog and don't have enough space to comfortably accommodate all their dogs. You are better off leaving your dog at home alone while at work and using a dog walker service instead or going to another daycare. Kennel cough infection was insult to injury! Very disappointing. read more

I am an old school Brooklynite that has never used a groomer for any of my dogs. I was always the DIYer in regards to grooming until recently where my current dog Sadie could no longer run the lengths she used to in order to file her nails down. I called a couple of groomers in my area as my dog Sadie needed to have her nails clipped prior to calling Pupculture. By these grooming establishments I was told that my dog is too big and they specialized in smaller breeds. I saw Pup Culture on Yelp and decided to contact them. I spoke to a nice woman on the phone whom instructed me that they could clip Sadie's nails and then I asked about actual grooming. Sadie's appointment was set for today 4/7/2013. I was greeted by a really nice woman named Alicia whom contacted the groomer so I could advise of specific instructions on Sadie. Shiro the groomer is super nice and as I spoke to him about how short I wanted Sadie's hair we set the length and nail situation. Four hours later, let's just say I will never groom Sadie myself again. All I will do is brush the shedding hair off. Shiro and the Pup Culture staff turned me into a believer. She walked out of the back like a different dog with a lot of pep in her step. Very happy and satisfied and I was so thrilled to see her smile and how beautiful she looked. I was so excited that I totally forgot my manners so I will walk back to Pup Culture tomorrow for Shiro. Seriously Shiro did just a wonderful job grooming that he made me look like a bad Mommy in the grooming department. Basically Sadie looked homeless compared to what she looks like now. Everyone on staff was very polite as well. They understood when I said Sadie is great with people but selective with the dogs she is nice with. So they kept a good eye in that respect. read more

People in the room treat dogs so mean but our dog owners wouldn't know because there's no camera. First time I took my puppy I asked how was she doing and they said she was doing really good. But I found out that she threw up and wasn't able to sleep because there were other dogs which I understand, doggy care can be overwhelming to puppies especially that are not used to it yet.
