We had been to a few other spots before and literally got red carpet treatment and people were genuinely happy we were visiting their establishment. However not the case at The Resort" We walked in and sat down and immediately the server came to take our order. She carded the newly engaged couple and asked them both for their ID's. When she realized the bride to be had a different last name then her mother, they asked for proof they were related. That's when everything got uncomfortable. For the bride to be does not share her mother's name has her mother was divorced many years ago. The server then asked to show proof of insurance where it showed that the mother paid for the daughters insurance. Being restaurant owners themselves, the mother questioned why she was being asked this, and mentioned to the server, it was getting very uncomfortable and to just forget about it. We would take our business elsewhere. The father of the bride to be felt horrible for all of us and went in to speak with a manager. The manager was rude, and started spouting off Texas ABC laws, which again our friend was a restaurant owner himself, and said there is no law that says a daughter and a mother have to share the same last name for proof of identification. By this time, the server had already packed up our wine, instead of putting it in nice bags , she put them in plastic bags, and taped them up, as if we were hobos (see pics), and brought us a bottle of wine, which she indicated was a "gift" as we think she felt bad for what had happened. The wine was not even from their winery. It was a bottle of Martha Stewart "Two Buck chuck wine". As we were leaving, the manager was in the bar, and I went over to tell him how horrible the experience was, instead of pulling me to the side to have a conversation he started yelling at me in the bar, he started quoting the same laws he had referred to previously, and told me I was never allowed to come back. I of course, said we were never coming back anyway. He was yelling at me as I left the bar. And yes, owners of the restaurant you can go back and see the video tape and watch him, follow me out yelling at me, in front of your whole restaurant. Customer service 101, even if the customer is wrong, you do not chase them out of the restaurant, make a scene in front of all your other customers, and never follow them to the parking lot,Not just bad customer service, but 100% uncouth. Then, he proceeded to tell me to fuck off as we were standing outside of the restaurant, in front of customers entering the restaurant, my son and our friends. I literally felt like I was at a low budget establishment, or bowling alley. So incredibly disappointed. Shame on you to the owners or lead manager of this establishment. You need to do better. (Im including a picture of how our wine was packed that day- where is the other open bottles from the other visitors were not sent home this way. They were sent home in nice carry bags with the Ventor's name on them)

Felt more like ghost town. Very eery. Also, this is 15 miles outside of Fredericksburg. We had to drive 15 minutes to get groceries since there was no resteraunt on site. The room? It was old and dingy. Thank goodness the AC worked tho. Concrete floors holes in the door even tho it had character. There was exposed electrical wires in our hut and we were a little concerned it was a fire hazard. We booked Sun-Tuesday for a relaxing gateaway. But, we left at the crack of dawn after one night. Set up perfectly for relaxation, but with an easy and fast drive into town. In addition to 6 cabins...There's a community room, where breakfast is served that has a fireplace, wine glasses for those bottles you brought home with you, and games should you be with a group and want to drink and play games as a part of your R&R. Ample parking with chargers for your Tesla if that's how you roll. Craig and the gang were incredible hosts, who are close by enough to make sure you've got what you need, but behind the scenes enough that you can feel like you're secluded in the cabins! They have some great stories, and are easy to chat with, I lost track of time visiting. Speaking of their hospitality, the breakfasts were amazing and so filling. They never let your coffee cup get low... have an assortment of creamers to pick from (but if you need something specific like oat milk, I'd reach out beforehand - they seem very happy to accommodate allergies and sensitivities). First day was an egg bake and potato hash, fresh fruit, yogurt and granola, and a cinnamon roll with house made icing that was perfection. The next day was fruit/yogurt/granola and eggs, sausage, bacon and delicious French toast! They also have a grill on the property so you could likely bring in some hamburger meat or steak and potatoes and cook up a nice lunch or dinner if you didn't feel like adventuring into town since weekend waits at restaurants can be long if you're like me and didn't boom well in advance. Also, reach out to them when you book and they can help you with that or suggestions for meal spots or which wineries to hit up. Ok on to the property. I found the accommodations to be perfect. The cabin has plenty of creature comforts and then some (the bed adjusts to raise your head and feet - perfect for post in town exploring). The bath is deep, long and roomy, perfect for soaking and relaxing with the jets going. The shower is spacious and has two shower heads. There's a small fridge with a tiny freezer space. Coffee maker with a ton of selections, including tea, with sweeteners, honey, creamer. Comfy cozy bed, a chest with some blankets to take outside and swing. And an electronic fireplace for ambiance, you can select if you want heat or not. I spent a lot of time on the swing, looking off to the cows in a pasture across the creek, listening to birds singing off in the distance and the occasional rooster (far enough away to barely be noticeable). The swing is deep and so comfy. You can easily curl up and take a nap there. Also it was nice to swing and look over the community fire pit at night. Perfect gathering spot to make new friends and s'mores! Highly recommend and hope to visit again soon!

However, the room felt somewhat outdated compared to modern hotel standards. It's worth noting that the hotel does not offer valet service. The location is excellent, it's within walking distance to many attractions in Fredericksburg. We were able to explore the area comfortably on foot. It was mostly quiet during our stay, and while the bedding was just okay, it was still comfortable. We didn't encounter any of the staff issues mentioned in other reviews. We would definitely consider staying here again in the future.

Plus there is a big and very clean bathroom area! I already liked coming to Fburg for wine tasting and shopping every now and again, and grand central is an excellent add on. They have random communal events too eg for Halloween and Christmas, it's all very homely.
