Pretty likable happy hour. Pints of liquid gold from within the confines of the finest 48 contiguous states for $1.75 a pop, that's fine with me. The hot garlic wings were the closest thing I have had to Inner Circle since Youngstown. That is very high praise if you didn't know. read more

I'm not sure how to rate this place. First off, ignore all the "family friendly " comments. It isn't, unless your family is all of drinking age. I'm going to break my ratings into two parts. 1) The food: we ordered burgers, fries, and drinks. The burger was great! Think backyard barbecue, a generous patty served on a Kroger style bun, topped with plenty of fresh tomato, pickles, and lettuce. A real pleaser. The fries: A homestyle shoestring fries that were cooked brown. They fell flat though because they were completely seasoning free, no salt, no nothing. 2) The atmosphere: Think dark, grungy, rural biker bar. Complete with an over served drunk at the bar yelling profanities bad enough to make a sailor blush. Did I say, not family friendly? Overall assessment: This place has probably been here for decades, and has served the area well as a local watering hole, with good food. It's old, the regulars are rough, but the food is good, and the drinks are cold. Problem is, the demographics of the area has changed. The area this place sits is growing as Columbus spreads East. If this place is to survive in the future, it'll need a facelift inside and out. There is a nice little stage area outside that could draw people in from the new neighborhoods surrounding it, if a little love was given to the place.... Oh, and cut off the happy hour drinkers BEFORE they're sloppy drunk. Five stars for the food, ding one point for the drunk, and one for cleanliness, and stack of stock lying around in plain sight. Three stars. We may come back to try the pizza. We saw several coming out of the back, and they looked delicious....Probably without kids... and after happy hour. read more

Went here on a little "scouting" mission for me and my wife. We're moving to the area and being able to watch the Browns with other tortured souls is important. The Barn reminds me of the first place we watched a Browns' game at. No frills, no thrills, just a solid bar that we can yell at a TV, and by TV, I mean Refs. Looking forward to Sundays here. I read some other reviews and they were ridiculous but everybody is entitled to their opinion. We have lived in Pataskala for a year and a half and never tried it. Be warned this is a bar that has the best pizza. Has to be one of my top three pizzas ever. Crispy crust, wonderful sauce, quality toppings and perfect cheese. Service was great. We went to this place for St Patricks day and were very happy with the experience. The staff is great and the owner goes way out of his way to make sure you are well taken care of. He definitely takes a Hands On approach to running his business and we spotted him on several occasions cleaning up the place and making sure people were well taken care of ! There was a live band downstairs and a DJ upstairs wit a packed dance floor. This place has something for everyone. The food was wonderful and the waitress took great care of us ! Interesting local place. Has a unique vibe and was doing brisk business for a Wednesday night. Had a couple beers at the bar while I waited for the rest of my group. Bar service was prompt and very efficient. Beers were cold which made for a quick first which was very quickly replenished. Bar type food was better than most local pubs. The potato skins were just the right amount of potato left with a good amount of toppings. The topics were not generous, but ample. I also enjoyed an order of spicy bbq wings. The wings were meaty and cooked the way I like them with some crunch. The sauce was a wet sauce tossed and mixed well. Flavor was good, but not very spicy. I expected a little hotter kick. Over all a good experience. I don't live in the area and would not make a special trip but I would return if near by. read more

Just stopped by to eat somewhere local on a Saturday night. Ordered two full orders of boneless wings, loaded fries and a total of two beers. Never received the order of fries. Then bill came to a total of $39 which caught me by surprise when price on the menu is $5.50 a piece for the wings. Not sure if I'd return until I heard of positive change. read more

I love the cowboy burger and the heartattack burger depending on my mood. we always left full even when we never got the appetizers. They have domestic bear nights twice a week at $2.00 draft on Thursdays and $1.75 on Tuesdays. wife gets a Strawberry daiquiri and enjoys it. Every now and then someone adds a little more but they don't kill it. Place is always clean, very barn rustic. has two pool tables upstairs with a bar upstairs when it is open. staff is excellent and really work hard and cover each other. Parking is good size and well lit but not to where it's blinding. Only bad side are the "Karen's " next door at the children gymnastics who tend to block the north driveway as they sit in their SUV's to watch their phones and wait for their kids For they park 4feet from the building. There is another larger entrance on the south side of the property just past the car dealer. This is a unique place and good relaxing sports bar atmospher. read more

I found this place on Yelp and must admit I was a little hesitant to try it based on the reviews. I am really glad I did though! I stopped in mid afternoon for appetizers and some drinks, figured I would try the place out before going for dinner, ordered the sampler and a small pepperoni pizza to share. While the sampler was very good, the pepperoni pizza stole the show! The best comparison I can make is Tommy's pizza in Arlington, at least as it was years ago, delicious non-sweet sauce and the perfect combination of crispy crust and pepperoni without the burnt cheese. This seems to be a lot to ask a lot of places. I would post a picture but it just didn't survive long enough for me to take one. Having read the other reviews about the service and the confusion regarding seating, first thing was seating ourselves outside, then I went to the bartender (walking past a pretty clear seat yourself sign) and asked whether we should come in to order, and she said she would be out with menus and to take our drink orders. She was right out, the service was fast and very friendly. I don't quite recall what she was wearing but I didn't get the biker vibe others mentioned, it was appropriate but not memorable whatever it was. There was a lot of outside seating out back, inside there was a bar area with some tables, a screened in porch out front for the smokers, but also an upstairs dining area so if there is a smoke wafting in issue it would likely be in the bar area next to the porch in the winter, but there is so much other seating, it should be easy to move to another table, even upstairs. I didn't think this was a dive, do think it's fine to take kids here, and will be back for dinner for sure. How could I not when there is pepperoni as an appetizer? read more

I still want this place to be successful, so I tried it again. Since the last time I was here, they've changed the tables and chairs to mostly high tops. It looks more like a bar, but it looks good; more pulled together. The outside seating is awesome. It think it's a great use of space. This time, I didn't smell smoke inside, which I'm guessing is because it is slow tonight and because the outside smoking area is open for the summer, and not enclosed with plastic to keep the smokers warm. ;) This time, for food, I kept it simple (read safe). Pizza. I disagree with a previous post where they said it's like home baked pizza. As a vegetarian of 20+ years, my diet is pretty much, eggs, mexican and pizza. So, I consider myself somewhat of an expert based solely on the volume of these foods that I've consumed. The pizza is good! I love the crust and it has just the right amount of cheese and sauce. I'd still love to see them add some local drafts on tap. Maybe some day. :/ Once again I'm torn about this place. I STILL see its potential and I still hope it makes it. Today, the food was good, the service was quick and the atmosphere was impressive compared to previous visits. For those reasons, I feel compelled to give a better rating. :) read more

I happened upon The Barn while I was out for a drive down Route 16. I saw bright lights out of the corner of my eye and it was beckoning me to come toward the light. Really... There is no sign in sight to indicate you're actually at the bar, but you can't miss it. Parking is in the back of the building. When I was there the bar was relatively empty, but the drinks are cheap and the company was good. I heard they have good pizza, but it was late and the kitchen was just about to close so I didn't order any. I look forward to trying the pizza next time and updating my review. The building is actually pretty huge and was converted from an old dairy barn. The structure and style is an old country feel. It's a two story building with a DJ, full bar and pool tables upstairs. Downstairs, there are plenty of dining tables to have a pleasant meal, along with a full bar. The staff is friendly and makes for great conversation. It's nice to have a bar close by that isn't dirty and doesn't look like a hole in the wall. Basically, if you're looking for somewhere to relax that isn't packed or too noisy, this is a good place to get away and play some keno. read more

Sadly, since it has reopened after a long hiatus, it is not the same as it was. In fact, it's much worse unfortunately. We have tried twice now. The burgers are actually not bad. Not great, but above average. The balance of the menu is poor. We had nachos, which were a joke... Small, sad little toppings, waste of time. The pizzas were undercooked, doughy and completely average, the French fries were served with cold gravy on them and were cold themselves. The server messed up the order on both occasions as well, causing part of the food to come out and then waiting on the balance. We complained politely to our server who was cordial and said she told the manager. Nothing was done. They did not come out to discuss, no offer of discount or credit, etc. It was clear they did not care. We will not return and we live about 5 miles away (very close in country terms... :-) read more

Don't let looks fool you! This place needed a makeover 30 years ago. Yes it's old, yes it's poorly lit, yes it may be shut down by the health department at some point but we love it. Surprisingly good food, everyone is always smiling. Great vibes! read more

A friend of mine who knows I am a chicken wing and pizza snob told me I had to try this place. He said to go the take out route because the service was well below what he knows I expect. So tonight the family says they want pizza and wings so I say lets try The Barn On York. I order 2 16 inch one topping pizzas and 20 hot wings extra crispy and extra wet. The lady taking the order says 20-25 minutes which I felt was very reasonable. My wife drives 15 minutes from Granville to pick up the food. When she gets home we have 2 pizzas and 2 steak sandwiches. I send her back and call the place, I tell them I don't want cold wings that have been sitting there now 45 minutes and she passes me to the manager. He says they will cook new wings and credit my bill. I am thinking ok, good recovery from a mistake that should never have happened...... Well when the wife gets there she is told they are out or traditional wings so they made us boneless instead!! If I wanted chicken nuggets with buffalo sauce I could have made them at home for far less. So my review of 2 stars is based solely on the credit they gave us for chicken nuggets. Pizza is below average. Can't tell you about the wings because we never got to try them. Bottom line, there are way to many places to get food in Licking County for me to go back to this place. If they survive a year it will be as a bar with live music. Maybe if you are there and drunk you won't notice the food is average and more importantly you are eating something you didn't order. read more

My husband and I recently moved back to the Pataskala area after being gone for several years. We always like to support local businesses and restaurants. We have been customers of The Barn for a while now as it's a great location for us to meet up with friends. However the food is mediocre at best and is very inconsistant and the kitchen seems to be quite dirty. They seem to have quite a bit of turnover from their staff. They have one bartendar that does a great job taking care of the customers and promoting the business. The other staff though are rude , slow, and don't seem to understand that they need to actually come to the tables to service their customers. They don't seem to know what is going on or who is suppose to have what tables. When I was there last night after waiting for a long time for service, clearing the table, and for our food which we had to order at the bar because waitress failed to come ask us for anything. I confronted the young waitress. As I tried to talk to her she put her Hand in my Face and walked away! This is completely horrible. Needless to say we won't be returning and feel it's such a shame. My husband and I, we were invited here by a friend for St. Patrick's Day party. Yes, it is a barn. It has two levels. The night we were there, they had a two-man band downstairs. They were good. They have tables where you can sit and eat food and bar seating with televisions. Upstairs they have bar seating and high-top tables. The night we went, the upstairs had a DJ playing dance music and the high-top tables were pushed to the side. We did not try any of the food that night, so I cannot comment on that, but drinks were reasonably priced. If you live anywhere outside of Pataskala, you might become skeptical as you drive to the place, as it is remote, but that night was fun. Plan on going back to try the food. read more

I had high hopes for going back to the barn since we don't have a lot of sit-down dining choices in Pataskala. The wait staff was friendly but pretty busy. The place was about 80% full on a Saturday night. Early dinner time about 5. We ordered a large pizza and figured that would take some time to cook, so we also ordered a nachos and queso appetizer. And from there everything kinda went downhill. Our nachos never came out until the pizza was ready. In fact, we saw our pizza come out, and the waitress tell the guy to go back and get the nachos. The pizza was something like you would make at home. Crust seemed like it was probably a preformed frozen crust or something. A perfect circle with a molded edge like it was popped out of a mold. Crust was pretty thick and very dry and crunchy. Sauce was your basic sweet sauce. Cheese was not thick and stretchy and lightly browned like you would expect. Not bad but nothing special. The nachos were thick average chips from a bag, and the cheese looks like a few spoonfuls of Velveeta straight from the tub. Still kinda lumped in the bowl and not even hot enough to melt it down to liquid. No spices or peppers or anything you would expect in a queso. We had some pizza left so we packed the to-go box up. We didn't eat the nachos since there was really no point as we already had our pizza. Our server asked if we wanted a box for the chips, so we said yes, but never saw her again. I really wanted this to be a cool place. The atmosphere is descent and the staff was friendly. But the food should be better, and the basics of restaurant service need practice. read more

Our daughter attends cheer practice right beside The Barn On York. Occasionally we have decided to grab a quick bite to eat at the Barn on York, after dropping her off. First off, I completely understand that this is a bar and restaurant. I understand that if you went into any bar and restaurant in later hours, your going to expect a different crowd. I'm a common sense type of person! However, my family and I decided to eat there on Sunday night at 6:30pm. Walking in, we were immediately seated and addressed professionally by the waitress. There were a few people at the time at the bar, along with the owner who was sitting with them. It wasn't long before more people (friends) came into the establishment. Again, this is a public place and anyone can come in. That's not the issue. The issue began with the repeatedly poor language. Keep in mind this is before 7pm. This went on through the next 30 minutes while waiting for our food. My wife and I just continued to let it go, while we were dining in with our other children. Figured the owner (still sitting at the bar) would react and say something to the behavior. (Since if they weren't "friends," they were acting VERY friendly!) Other customers were even apologizing to us. Speaking to the waitress while preparing to pay for our meal, I asked if the owner was coherent enough to have a conversation with me. He then came over and we began to have a conversation. I respectfully was telling him the issues that we had with all the foul language. He immediately said that he would take care of the bill. I appreciate that, but that wasn't the point. He could barely hold a conversation, so I knew it wasn't going to be worth my time to explain how I was feeling as a customer. His own waitress even told me he has been drinking all day. While we were leaving, I made sure to find our waitress who was apologizing for the atmosphere and was sure to over tip her. While exiting the restaurant, I was met my the owner. My wife and children were in front of me and were waking out the door. I stayed behind and began having another conversation with the owner. He informed me that the people at the bar have been there since 1pm and what did I want him to do about it. Why in the world would you continue to serve people so irresponsibly for such a long period of time, knowing that it wasn't safe for them, is bedside me. I'm not a bar and restaurant owner, maybe it's more important to continue make profit than to make smart judgment decisions on behalf of your business. The owner raised his voice to me, again asking "what should I do about it." I replied to him that I would have suggested to keep a little more calm and be advised that there were children in the restaurant. He was so incoherent that this never registered. What I know is this. These times are hard for all businesses. Every last customer and every last dollar counts. I can tell that this establishment is struggling because of their aggressive raised food prices. If I were to take my family into this business to eat a meal past 9pm (which I would never do!) I would expect that type of crowd. Not at 6:30pm. Would only advise owner to understand to take advantage of the parents that have their children get cheer lessons next door and earn much needed business from those parents. Maybe I'm wrong, but I wouldn't have a job if I didn't react to the behavior that my family and I experienced. I definitely wouldn't have a job if I was in the building and I was letting the behavior happen right in front of me and I didn't react! I hope the owner, after sobering up realizes the potential impact this could have on future customers. If not, I'm not sure this "restaurant," and bar won't be around for very much longer.
