I booked my room through HotelTonight. There is nothing on the booking site about a "Destination Fee." I was charged an additional $83 upon checking in. When I inquired about the extraneous fee, the "manager" failed to deal with it in an appropriate manner. He could have easily taken it off as a courtesy or done something to mitigate it. Instead, he proceeded to tell me I was wrong. He proceeded to tell me that I should able to read. This is a masterclass on how not to treat your guests. I hope every one hoping to stay here reads this and reconsiders staying elsewhere. read more

Relaxing stay at this boutique hotel in CBD! Booked my reservation through Amex and was pleasantly greeted at check in acknowledging my Amex benefits and Hyatt member status, which also gave me 2 complimentary drinks! The destination fee includes discounts on local tours and a free tram (Jazzy Pass). Very cute long area with bar offering happy hour specials and free popcorn! Special shout out to Tyler H bartender! Great service and cocktails. The pool is really what sold me on this hotel! Serene rooftop pool with a bar. I enjoyed a few ;) tequila cocktails which were great. Opportunity here was the bathroom was in need of cleaning and stalls pretty dark with lights just over the sinks. The rooms are spacious and clean! Nice hotel. The decor isn't for everyone. It is somewhat motley design, but I didn't mind. My room had a full size fridge, which was nice but it also felt weird to have an item of that size in a hotel room. But on the plus side, plenty of space to store leftovers. You need a key to go to any higher floors. Nice security wise but also annoying sometimes. The ok: Tv kept blipping and somewhat staticy. Check out on tv didn't work, but it worked on the app Thermostat in room kinda confusing to use Front desk staff very nice When you check in, they gave you a list of hotel info with QR codes - but many of them didn't work The doors slam shut. You can hear the echo from your room, but it's very easy if you don't catch the door right away that yours will slam too The good: Nice pool on the top floor Restaurant on site serves decent food I got 2 free drink tickets when I checked in. A work assignment brought me to NOLA leading me to stay here for a week in early August at the suggestion from a coworker. One thing that jumped out was the customer service. Everyone from the valet service to the front desk to the bartenders were super polite and made my experience a nice one. Also if you're a Hyatt member with status, you get a complimentary cocktail when you check-in; a nice touch there. The room I stayed in was clean with balcony access allowing me to experience the NOLA nights in the evening. Other amenities that jumped to me were the exercise room which has a good amount of machines for it's size, and the pool. My god, the pool! A gorgeous setup with an outside bar and plenty of lounge chairs with covering and mist fans. You can also order food there as well along with drinks; and not to mention the gorgeous view of the city. Quite a scene! Only issues I had were low water pressure from the shower and the sink and sometimes the valet parking could take longer than the allotted time to get your vehicle. But aside from those, I'm definitely happy to stay here again. The Hyatt portfolio has another great one added! read more

The Barnett was our home base for my sister's bachelorette weekend, and we also worked with the Barnett to reserve a hotel block for all of the girls in the bachelorette party. We did so since we loved the decor, suite options, and the central location. In addition, we really liked the fact that there were restaurants and a pool on site. From moment one, the Barnett staff were kind and accommodating, and the amenities on site were just as amazing as they looked online. Giovanni in particular was a dream to work with, and answered all of my questions throughout securing the room block. The Barnett made my sister's weekend so special, and helped curate memories that will last a life time. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for accommodations in New Orleans. Disappointed in this hotel. We chose to stay here for a staycation weekend and will be staying somewhere else next time. Definitely could have stayed somewhere nicer for cheaper. I really tried to balance out the pros and cons, but I can't honestly give it 3 stars in good faith. Pros: - Parking (lot across the street) - Location/Proximity to variety of restaurants - Staff/attentiveness - Rooftop pool - Free popcorn - Free welcome drink - Big TV with chrome cast Cons: - A/C doesn't actually go down (set to 66° which is as low as it will allow you to put it, and I'm sweating with no blanket on, it's 55° outside) - The pictures of the room on the website are misleading, everything looks and feels old and cheap (like an old hospital or college dorm) - The upgrades that were done were not done very well (light switches that control nothing, receptacles just painted over a different color, overall subpar craftsmanship) - Pillows are terrible (bed is ok though) - Balcony is not technically shared, but there is a only short glass divider between them, so it might as well be - Walls are very thin, noise travels easily - In-room amenities, or lack thereof read more

We stayed at The Barnett this past weekend for our Anniversary staycation. We chose this hotel as it is within walking distance to Bearcat, Rouses, CVS and the Superdome. The bellman greeted us and assisted with getting our luggage out of the car and called for the valet to park our car. There's is a parking lot directly across the street from the hotel, but use hotel valet ($50 per day). The front desk associate was friendly, checked us in quickly and we were in the room within 10 minutes of arriving. We reserved a room with a private balcony, but were placed in a room with the shared balcony. Although there were blinds I was not a fan of just anyone walking past or room. The room was spacious and decorated in a cute retro vibe. The walls are thin. You will hear your neighbors and will definitely hear any music playing. The pool is a vibe! Relaxing lounge chairs with shade and mist fans. The pool cook, Bliss, made delicious wings. We will be back for a pool day soon! I love coming, and dancing here on the third Saturday of the month. We have been coming for years to hear the live band called Muévelo. The bar is a lovely space and the dance floor is wonderful. The stage for the musicians with the sound system is excellent, and I hate the thought that their current management might not renew the contract. The dance lesson before the band start is taught by wonderful local people and I really hope they continue the gig! The band deserves every penny they get paid and more so this bar and Hotel needs to recognize the wonderful local talent and New Orleans culture that has been served up here for the last several years! read more

We went here to have a cocktail after a Pelican's game. Bartender was non-offensive when we ordered our first round of espresso martini's. When we ordered the second round, he thought we said "water" so when we got the check, we said, oh, this doesn't include the second round. He VERY bitchily slammed down a second round then gave us the check. Then they proceeded to try to smoke us out by turning on the brightest overhead lights while we tried to gulp our martini's. I get it, I've been a server, but damn, do you HAVE to be that rude? I said thank you and have a happy new year and got a grunt. Location was great - far enough away from the craziness to get a good nights sleep but close enough to walk to attractions like WWII museum, French quarter, SuperDome, and more. Right on the street car line. The coffee at the cafe downstairs is awesome. Grocery store nearby if you want to stock your large Smeg fridge. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Great location to walk all directions to the french quarter to canal street to all public transportations, ferry, streetcars and busses quite honestly. On arrival the staff are right there to help with bags, information and the doors. Always greeted by staff getting the door for you every time you leave or return. (not always experienced anymore) but this place goes out of it's way to greet you in an upbeat and friendly manner! Something I really appreciated. On check in, the staff was friendly and welcoming. They offered a lot of information about the hotel not much retained as I was just happy to check in after my flight but they also offered information about things to do and tours if you were interested. 8th floor and I would highly suggest. Just one floor from the rooftop pool and wood fired pizza kitchen on 9. This hotel used to be the ACE hotel so a lot of your directions when mapping may say the ACE. Just an FYI. Just changing hands not even for a month so yes there seemed to be some work going on in various areas not really noticed. Very quiet maybe some workers on the elevator and some rooms with "work in progress" signs. Nice to see since they just acquired it. Some of the reviews say dated well it was the ACE hotel. I thought it was very welcoming with lots of space to hang out on comfy leather sofas and an upscale bar in the lobby. Meeting rooms right off the lobby with poetry readings, comedy and jazz brunches! Very nice. You can access an Italian restaurant which I won't review because I didn't care for the menu and opted to go down the street to seaworthy. But you can access the coffee shop as well from the lobby and street. This was my favorite coffee place believe it or not. It wasn't the Cafe Beignet for coffee anyway. The room was as seen online. Large space with a almost full size fridge. Safe available. The view was great from the eighth floor with a large window sill to place items. High ceilings and a large amour with drawers and hanging space. Stocked snacks and drinks as well. No microwave. Bed and linens were nice and clean, comfy. Service was great. If opting for no service, fresh towels were delivered to your room upon request. Now, the rooftop was really beautiful. We were there for 5 days and waited till the last night to go up there. Wish we hadn't waited. There was a kitchen with full bar up there. Didn't really know. Check hours of operation when you check in but it was open till 9 the night we went. There was plenty of foliage on one side for privacy and really beautiful. The other was more open with a view of the city. The kitchen and bar are when you enter and out of the way. It's a 3.5 foot deep pool but deep enough to swim. There is a seating area or sunning area on the side of the pool as well which was a nice added touch. The lounge chairs are dated and need replacement, some with rips and tears others pretty ok. What you don't know is that there are large circular loungers. These are nice and rentable/reservable. It's unclear of whether it is an upcharge for a hotel guest but they used to have passes for the public to use so I'm unsure. What I learned from hotel staff though is that if you are going to reserve, to make sure you do so from the hotel pass app/resort app to prevent resort charges. Ask at the desk for a code for the online reserving. That's my tip I learned on the last day! Important one. The regular loungers are also reservable and free. Good to know!. Not many people use the pool. We were the only ones IN the pool although plenty of people hang out at various times. It seemed empty most of the time. I would recommend Hotel Barnett and look forward to the improvements being made as they just acquired it. I will be coming back to this hotel when I visit. read more

Solid hotel. Smooth check in and check out. Things are generally clean, if a little dated, but maybe that's part of the "character" of the hotel. The little cafe attached to the hotel was a convenient spot to grab good iced coffee and healthy breakfast to go, such as overnight oats and chia pudding. read more

The bed and pillows were not comfortable and my back and neck ached for days. The hotel staff were friendly and polite. The rooftop area is nice. The restaurant/bar on the first floor is good. I'm not one to leave a bad review, but this was so unacceptable and I will never come back here again. Check in says 3pm on their website. We tried early check in at 9am, they couldn't do it which was fine. Came back at 3, said it'll only be 15-20 minutes. No problem. Came back at 4:20pm. She finally called up to housekeeping, has no idea what's going on. She said 10 more minutes. It's now 4:50pm. Haven't received any room, no empathy at all in this place. Went to the Barnett on 4/16 to the roof top pool just to chill for the day, upon entry my boyfriend and I were asked if we were guest "no" we were willing to pay the pool fee. We were told by the young lady at the stand to go to the website. We go to the website the $27 day pass was sold out so then she tried to sell us a lounge chair which was $45 per person we arrived at 3 and was leaving at 5 to catch jazz in the park at Lafayette square. When we looked around we said "sold out" she said oh you can pay at the bar we said ok she said it's going to be higher. I then stepped in and said how much she said without the chair $30 I'm thinking ok no big deal let's do it. When we get to the bar she tells the bar maid we want the $30 day pass. The bar maid then try to talk us in to a $45 lounge chair per person and told us if we didn't get it we would have to leave at 6pm due to a private party. I said no we are not paying $45 per person and we will leaving at 6 anyway because we are going to the park. Long story short, we left and went to the Virgin hotel. The atmosphere was awesome. They were not price gauging us. They told us the fee we paid and the service was awesome. The next day I called the Barnett to discuss what my experience was. I spoke to someone by the name of Justin at the front desk. He told me a manager would call me. I had a missed call from the Barnett. I called Justin again the following day and the manager has yet to reach out to me. I spoke to Justin both days. Please do not go where you are not welcomed. I stayed in The Barnett hotel towards the end of October. While I was away at a concert, someone unlocked my room and helped themselves to several cards, electronics, and jewelry that were, ironically, left in our room to minimize the risk of being mugged or pick pocketed while walking around New Orleans. The staff couldn't seem to care less. I was ultimately blamed for my door having been unlocked and left open, despite the fact that I wasn't in the hotel when it happened (they read the lock for timeframe and I have timestamped photos that prove I wasn't on the premesis during that time). Triggs, the security manager, was increasingly rude and unwilling to answer my questions when I called to check in on the "investigation". I was told that there were no cameras near my room and that was nothing that they were willing to do to resolve my issue. The manager of the hotel was contacted several times via email with no response, almost a month later. Hyatt corporate has also yet to return my phone call. In addition to all of that, the beds were uncomfortable and the shower didn't have a door so it created a huge mess everytime we used it. Had an absolutely horrible stay or the lack of for the Mardi Gras celebration in the New Orleans. At Booking.com, where I am a Genius Level 3 with HUNDREDS of successfully completed stays, during neither of which I needed to pay for any damages made as simply there were none made. I have a LEGAL background and I used to work for a moment at a Reception of a Hotel and it is a Hotel's / Chain's responsibility to ensure everything is compliant, especially as it concerns additional charges and the overall price, as the Hotel attempted to charge me over USD 200 for the damages deposit, while neither in the pricing nor in the Policies section of their Hotel at Booking.com such a deposit was NEVER mentioned, therefore I refused to pay it, which resulted in myself and the companion (both of us being considered DISABLED at the moment - myself due to left leg oedema and left knee injury, so I can barely walk) being denied to check-in at almost midnight leaving us without a place to stay in a foreign country. As it is a Hotel's legal obligation to provide all pricing details either directly or in Policies section, a lawsuit shall follow as my left leg got worse because of this atrocious treatment, as I was forced to search for an altetnative accommodation at midnight walking with a heavy luggage while I can barely walk. read more

The Barnett Hotel's management is incompetent. I booked a suite with a private patio and a larger living room area. This was booked off of the hotels website (not a third party). Once we arrived we were given a regular small room with no patio. We had to go back to the front desk to ask what happened to our suite. At that point we were told the suites were being renovated. This was a scheduled renovation so I'm not sure why the general manager didn't pull the room listing from the hotel's website. Nothing they could do other than put us in a different smaller room with a shared patio. At no point did management communicate any of this to us before our stay. Chantelle The general manager told me she called to leave a voicemail but the voicemail is 30 seconds of background noise and the las three seconds is her saying "hello?" And then hanging up. We were also kicked off of a day bed at the pool area because it was reserved for someone else. At no point did any of the staff tell us they were reserved and there were no reserved signs on them. Brought this to managements attention and they shrugged it off.
