I called up Alford days after my install because I had water coming up through the valve they installed on the system. To say the least, I was stressed about it. Alford sent over a young man named Jason Berry to check it out and he very quickly determined that some gravel around the valve was blocking the flow of water. He cleared out the gravel and then tested the system with my garden hose and water started immediately flowing into my sump pit! Problem solved! Stress over! Thank you Jason for a job well done!

I got in contact with Alford when looking into getting my crawlspace encapsulated in March. After…read moreinspecting the crawlspace, the news was not good. I was quoted a couple of packages in the $28-$31k range, was offered a $3k discount if I signed that day. I was not going to do that. I mentioned other issues that were contributing factors and mentioned multiple stages. He mentioned fees for multiple visits; he wasn't sure He left after telling me that I would hear from the Account Manager soon. I then began addressing the main cause of the issues in the crawlspace - the gutters. I did also get another quote on the first part of the job - the cleanup - and contracted for that based on $$. At various times I received form E-Mails from my Account Manager asking if I was ready to get started on my project. So, on April 22nd, I responded to one of the E-Mails. I outlined what was being done on my project, the timeline, what still needed to be done, and offered them the opportunity to quote on what was left. I got crickets; no response. Today I got the same form E-Mail. I am going to unsubscribe. (And yes, I could have called, but I don't do phone well.) I suspect the work would have been top notch, but this left me - personally - feeling like no one cared about my house and it's REAL issues. Unfortunately, I did not. I spoke on the phone with someone named Mike in April about a couple of different issues I had with my basement. He said they were too busy at the time to come out and look at it and that what they usually do is install a sump pump. I told him I wasn't sure that was what I needed without checking a couple other things first, but he said again they were too busy for anyone to come out, that I likely needed a sump pump system installed, and that it could run from a few to several thousand dollars. That's fine, I imagine they are swamped in the spring and I have an idea what those systems cost if, in fact, that's what I needed. No problem. Fast forward to August. I called back to see if someone could come out to look at my situation. Left a message with Nicole and I got a call back from Mike (maybe the same Mike, maybe not...I believe he said "Stearns") and we set an appointment for a few days later. Well, he never showed up, never called, nothing. Rogers may be the absolute best in town, but I'll never know it. I feel like I was blown off twice. I'm sure if they see this they'll be very apologetic on here and tell everyone that's not how they do business, but it was exactly how they did it with me. Maybe you'll be luckier and get the owner.

This was our first sump pump, so they had to do everything, not just the pump(put the ditch around the basement, lay inside drain line,cover it back up, dig ditch to street, lay the drain from the basement out to the street, cover it up). They were very considerate of our house, covering the floor path to the work area and placing plastic over the doorways from the section of the basement they were working in. The concrete work covering the ditch up after the inside drain was installed was very neat. Great job! Highly recommended!

Outstanding foundation and mold inspection for my refinance…read moreI needed a foundation and mold inspection for a house refinance after the appraiser flagged potential mold in the unfinished part of the basement. What he thought was mold turned out to be years of cobwebs and my black German shepherd's hair. The inspector was thorough, honest, and professional from start to finish. He promptly responded to my Yelp inquiry, took the time for a phone consultation beforehand, worked around my schedule, and arrived right on time. He did a careful inspection (we live here and I certainly don't want to live with mold), clearly explained what he found, and provided a well-written inspection letter I could submit to my lender. The price was fair and the whole experience was straightforward and professional. Highly recommend if you need a reliable, honest inspector who actually takes the time to do the job right.

I rarely give five star reviews because I rarely have good experiences with service workers - let alone great experiences. However, JB Foundations earned all 5 stars. And honestly, it's not that hard - just very few companies will do the basic things that make customers happy. It started recently with a couple days of hard rain. We live in an elevated area where our driveway slopes up and our house and foundation is higher than the street. As a result, we have never had any issues with water in the basement and rarely give it a thought. The only problem we had was the pipe leading up and out of the basement had a loose connection and I was able to tightened it up. But with this most recent rain, the sump pump started acting differently. It was still seemingly working but making an incredible noise. I had just had new flooring put in on the first floor (I'll be writing that review next) and noise carries much more within the house. At first I chalked the louder sump pump up to that. But the more I had to listen to it while working from home, I realized something was wrong. The second day, I started putting feelers out. Messaging 3 companies on their websites asking if they did this work on sump pumps and in our area. NONE RESPONDED. I hate using the phone so electronic communication is my preference. THe next morning, the pump was quieter but ran non-stop for hours - despite there not being hardly any water in the tank and it also had not really rained for a while. This time I turned to Yelp (which is where I got the names and reviews of the 3 companies I reached out to via their websites). I picked one and sent a message just like I did before. I also took the option to ask a couple more companies to respond. Almost immediately, JB Foundations responded and expressed ability and interest in doing the work. We exchanged messages via Yelp and soon I had an appointment, as well as an estimate should the pump need replacing. The appointment window was only 2 hours and they were able to come the next day. Considering we had yet to take any water in the basement, I was feeling very lucky (which is rare). Jay showed up during the 2 hour window and went to work. He showed me how the pump can be tested by bypassing the floater. The pump was still working and apparently able to push water to the street. Regardless, given the 26 years it had been working - I opted to have it replaced. Jay had a new pump with him and installed it in maybe 15 minutes. He asked for a garbage bag to carry the old pump out in as it was crusted in rust and mud. He had also pulled out a few other misc. items (paper, soda can, rocks) from the hole and transported it all way without messing up the floor. Jay educated me about the back-flow valve/connector - which was apparently what had come apart before. He had replaced it at no extra charge. I always appreciate a service person taking the time to explain things to me so I better understand how the things in our house work. Jay did so without making me feel spoken down to or stupid. I don't know what else I can share if you're not convinced yet to include this company in your search when needing any work done in your basement/foundation. I highly recommend giving them a shot.
