BBQ was okay, small portions- not much meat. Mac and cheese was okay but could've used more salt/flavor. The interior is a bit sad- we took our food to a nearby park near the water to eat which was much nicer. The Brisket itself was okay but had large chunks of fat and there was hardly any meat. Stopped for the first time today. Not much to look at from the outside (or inside) but when you walk through the door the smell of BBQ hits you. It was crowded which is always a good sign. I hadn't had lunch and tried the pulled pork sandwich (to go). Also ordered a half rack of ribs for dinner and a container of Mac salad. The pulled pork sandwich was tasty with a generous portion of meat. Had the ribs for dinner and they were fall off the bone delicious with great bark. When I had this place for the first time I was very impressed with the pulled pork sandwich I would recommend putting some BBQ sauce in the pulled pork when you make it. Other than that love the place and the service was very nice this guy showed us where he makes the pulled pork. Also I love the sauce station they have their love the little station.Also I love the keuka lake magazines they have in there. DELICIOUS!!! Stopped by for lunch on a drizzly afternoon of our vacation, on the way to do a couple of errands. The amazing smell of BBQ gets you right as you open the door and I was not the only person to enter and immediately say out loud IT SMELLS SO GOOD IN HERE. Staff were extremely sweet and we got to chat with the owner of this small local business. They used to make donuts but then took over the adjacent BBQ place and then shifted to only BBQ (and AMAZING fries and a slew of other sides). DH and I each got a sandwich and side combo - he got brisket I got pulled chicken. I got coleslaw. He shared his fries with me. Lunch combo included a bottled drink from the fridge. Everything was outstanding but special h/t to the fresh cut fries- and to call them out in the company of the brisket is saying something. I couldn't have managed another morsel after such a tremendously filling lunch so I wasn't sad about the donut situation. After lunch we ran a couple of errands then stopped back at the BBQ shack again to get lunch to go for our teenagers who were back at the house. It's literally a shack. And kind of hard to spot as you're driving. It was not very apparent from the road. And we didn't know where to park upon seeing it. We circled around to the back, parked in what we hoped was their parking lot, and then saw the entrance on the side of the shack. But that's the hardest part. The rest is just simply delicious food, reasonable prices, and great service. We ordered their brisket, pulled pork, ribs, beans, and then some donuts from the other counter. We got our orders with friendly smiles, took it all back to the B and B, and couldn't wait to dig in. The brisket was super tender and moist. The ribs were falling off the bone. The pulled pork was likewise very tender. Everything had a nice smoky flavor like it came right out of the pit. And it all came with their bbq sauce. I could've eaten it all without the sauce and it would've been delicious. But the sauce added another dimension to it all. Really really good. The beans were also very flavorful. The donuts came right out of the fryer, and were then hand dipped right in front of us in the flavors that we chose. Pretty great to see. And even better to eat. Awesome place!! read more

After a long day of traveling, wine tasting, and squeezing in a hike, we were famished. And having read so much about the delicious chicken, we decided to stop by the BBQ Shack to pick up some for dinner. As we parked the car, we noticed the sign "Andy's BBQ" outside, which was a little misleading, but don't worry, this is the right place. Unfortunately, they were all out of the chicken, which was disappointing, but also confirms how delicious and popular it is. We went ahead and ordered the brisket, half a rack of ribs, mac and cheese and coleslaw to go. Everything was delicious. The brisket was tender and had the right amount of fat and meat ratio to it. The ribs were served in a half slab, which annoyed me a little at first, since we only had plasticware, but to my surprise, it cut very easily with the plastic knife. The ribs were not fall off the bone, but was still very tender and smoky. The sides were both on point too. Mac & cheese and coleslaw were both simply made, but good. While visiting the Finger Lakes, we decided to make this our first dining choice. Although the outside is in a pretty dilapidated state, the inside is better. The pulled pork and chicken were good, the brisket was great, the ribs were phenomenal, but the star of the show for me was the buttery, if a little crumbly, cornbread! Give me more of that! Yum! This place was surprisingly good. We love a good BBQ spot. We ordered 2 Whole Rack of Ribs, 4 Chickens, 1lb of Brisket. It was all good! We also had 3 sides; Beans, coleslaw, and the pasta salad (forgot to take a picture). They were also very good! We wanted the Mac & Cheese but they sold out. *(they do sell out of meats and sides so order early). We were a party of 7 and it more than fed all of us perfectly (but we should have ordered more sides they are served in small containers). Some members in our group are avid BBQ lovers and compared this spot to some of the good places in Texas. A must try if in Penn Yan! Will order again while in Penn Yan this summer. read more

All the smoked meats were good. I had a sampler with a bit of everything. The chicken was very good but different from BBQ chicken I'm used to. Perhaps it had a mustard based sauce? I'd order it again, but you might want to ask before ordering to make sure chicken is what you expect. For those who don't like BBQ, they have a few other items such as burgers. Try the salt potatoes. Smallish potatoes, cooked in salt water, then covered in butter. Very tasty. The only thing we didn't care for was the wing dip. It is chicken meat, cheese and buffalo sauce, served with tortilla chips. For us it seemed very much like cream cheese and hot sauce, Too hot and cream cheesy. I'm told it is popular, but we didn't care for it. If you come on the right days (Tuesday and Saturday?) they also fry donuts. read more

So we looked up bbq in the area and this place popped up. As myself and work partners do alot of Smoking meats. We decided to stop and try it. To be honest, I wish we didn't. For starters, the place they cooked the ribs didn't look very sanitary. The inside was sub-par clean at best. As for the food, not that good. Hardly any flavor, except for the ribs ...they smelled and tasted bad.( hope I don't get sick) The corn bread was very good I gotta say. Just a small place, but serving really good BBQ. I try BBQ everywhere I go, and this is the best brisket I've had in western NY. (Haven't tried BBQ east of Albany!) I like it better than Dinosaur, and many other of the local Rochester BBQs. Juicy, smoky, tasty. Amazing buns! I had mine on sliders. Also had the mac salad which was also good. The only drawback is, they don't serve fries! Other than that, a great , out-of-the-way place for BBQ! read more

I couldn't decide between all of the meats, so got the sampler. It was a good option to taste a little bit of everything: chicken, ribs, pulled pork slider, brisket slider, corn bread plus sides. It was more than enough food for one. The sides I got were meh (baked beans and pasta salad although I'd asked for potato salad), and wish I could have tried the mac and cheese but it wasn't available on the day I was there. The meats were tender, smoky, and delicious. Cornbread was also excellent, moist and not too sweet. There are 2- 3 tables/chairs inside and outside, but it really is best for takeout. Wife and I rode in on our motorcycles. We usually try out a BBQ place each time we ride. The smell outside was awesome! We each had the ribs. They were good. Fell off the bone juicy. Great lil spot! Doesn't look like much from the outside but it's a perfect lunch stop if you're staying on the lake. BBQ was really good, didn't even have time to snap a pic. I've only been here for the donuts, but each time has been great! Their cake donuts are made to order in a small conveyor frying machine. Once out of the fryer, you can select any toppings you like. They usually have a couple of glaze options, chocolates, cinnamon sugar, sprinkles, M&Ms, and so much more. My personal favorite is the lemon glaze, which goes perfectly on the hot fry cakes. It almost reminds me of lemon pound cake. The staff is friendly and patient when you're deciding which topping you'd like. If you're looking to get a few, they can make an "assortment" so you can postpone the most difficult decision of the day for later. A few tips: - The location is easy to miss, so I use the Express Lube as a visual reference point. There are two entrances to the building. Use the side entrance closest to the oil place for donuts and BBQ. - They close up the donut station around 3:00 PM so the earlier you can make it in, the better. After driving past Andy's BBQ on several occasions I finally made the stop (needing a break from all the home cooking). It did not disappoint. My wife and I got The Sampler and several donuts. We didn't plan to eat that much (as it was a bit early for dinner) but we ate everything ordered in record time (including the delicious, incredibly warm donuts). Tried Andy's for lunch and probably won't return unless I'm starving. I tried the BBQ chicken which reminded me of any BBQ chicken you would get at a church picnic minus the flavor. Chicken was cooked, but it was extremely greasy. Potatoes lacked flavor of any kid, and Andy's uses Bush's beans which are nothing special. Wait till the Churches and fire departments do their BBQ's before going to Andy's. read more

I just this review on a search engine review board, but I know for food it is also helpful to leave one on Yelp as well. They were an amazing caterer. This is a review for both catering and the normal restaurant as I have experience with them in both. In both cases the summary is that their food and service are amazing and I would recommend them for anything from a bite to eat on a road trip to catering a wedding. I will start with the food. I am not a New York or Finger Lakes native, I married into the area. My only experiences with NY BBQ were the famous Cornell chicken recipe, but I did have experience with other BBQ. I grew up a very short trip away from Kansas City. Home to one of the best BBQ cultures in the country, and BBQ Shack would comfortably survive and thrive in that market. They are not only the best BBQ I have tried in New York, they stand toe to toe against some of the best BBQ restaurants in the country in my opinion. The chicken is unlike any I have tried, much greater depth of flavor profile than I have found with most BBQ chicken, almost like a Carolina Vinegar based sauce and Cornell recipe were intertwined into amazingness. The pulled pork is very well seasoned and cooked, and a very good amount of smoke flavor and juiciness. The brisket can range from a pretty good brisket to the best brisket you have ever tried in your life, and the sandwich pairing with the pulled pork is heavenly. The sides we loved the most in descending order were chicken wing dip, mac & cheese, salt potatoes, baked beans, and coleslaw. All of the sides were good, those were just the ones that stuck out most to us, with the chicken wing dip being something we crave on a weekly basis as we do not live in the area. The service, while this is not as important to me as the food, they still delivered in every aspect for us. If you are dining in it is a wonderful atmosphere where they start preparing a person's order before they walk in the door. This is what a smaller town restaurant should feel like, and it does. If you are catering you are done looking, you will not find something with better value and taste than them in the area. I recommend going in and getting at least one sampler platter and another meal to be able to try all the sides they have to offer, then make your selection based on personal preference, but there will be hard choices. They will communicate with you throughout the way, and are very good at anticipating your needs. read more

Both were delicious. The pulled pork is moist and pleasantly chewy, while the BBQ sauce is sweet with a little tang. Our cinnamon sugar donut for dessert was delicious.
