Driving up to the place. The parking lot was packed, always a good sign the food would be good…read more After viewing the extensive menu, I settled on the Pete's trio which consisted of 2 pork ribs, smoked sausage (they offer a vary of different sausages, I got the cheese and jalapeño), 1/4 lb of brisket, pickles and one side (recommend the camp beans or the parm potatoes). You order and pay, they hand you a buzzer. When the buzzer goes off you go to the kitchen window to pick up your food. The bar has just about everything you could ask for, including local wines and brews. I just went with a soft drink, my only complaint was they served Pepsi products which I am not particularly fond of, but at least they had Dew. You have to find your own table indoor and outdoor seating. But getting back to the food. Simply put, some of the best sausage and ribs I've ever had. The brisket was very tasty, but a bit more fatty than I'd like to see. Also, I did not see burnt ends on the menu, which is it my go to. The place is clean and the staff are quick to clean tables as soon as customers leave. Overall a very good experience with high quality food. Prices are reasonable to other BBQ places in the area. I definitely plan to go back next time in the area!

Food was good (not the best I have had in New York) Cons. I absolutely hated that I waited in line just to order for 30 mins. Then I found a table just to wait at least another 45 for my food. I have never waited this long for BBQ. You serve your self to get your drink and bbq sauce since they don't add any sauce or put any out on the table like most bbq places. This day they only had one sauce out. The honey mustard. Both the original and the hot bbq sauce were empty. I told the bartender and still nothing. This was a big disappointment to me. This place is a one and done for me. I don't feel I need to go back.

Could be all the wine in me talking (though I don't think so from the way everyone was chowing down), but this was some Grade A BBQ! Pulled pork was laced with sauce - sweet, sticky, not the least bit dry... the spare ribs were so tender, Smokey and flavorful and honestly not a whole lot of fat... and the brisket, well it melted in your mouth. Honestly - just way too good! Drinks. Food. Service. Company - 10 for 10!

Let me get to the details: Service: staffs were not attentive, friendly, nor helpful. The restaurant was busy when we came so we decided to seat outside. However, their outdoor tables were wobbly. Also, there were no bugs control devices nor heating lamps to accommodate us. When we asked to move inside, their response was we have to talk to the host and the hostess told us it is not possible because they were "too busy".... Yet we would see an empty table where they rather seat 2 people that come after us instead of us. On top of all that, our sever never came to refill our water. For service, this place is a zero star for me. Food: we ordered their famous heavy plate. The food size was loaded for the price, everything tastes fine but nothing was exceptional. Giving them some stars for the decent food. Atmosphere: inside has lots of booth style seatings and bar seatings. They can accomplish large parties. Outdoor seating is not great as their tables were cheap and they're seating on a slope. There were no heat lamps or bug controls so I don't recommend eating outside in the evening here. Overall: honestly, we felt ignored at this restaurant. I wouldn't come back here since they're not very accommodating or nice. Highly recommend management to train their staffs better.

The like was long - post even about 45 minutes but it was expected. got a buzz on my phone and it was off to the proverbial races !!! Nice combo indoor/ outdoor bar with patio with an open face to the building and architecture. Drinks while waiting were strong and affordable. Our waitress was warm and welcoming. She made us feel VIP the entire evening !!! The Bbq brisket and ribs were delicious and the Mac and potato salads were very tasty. I recommend the corn bread with the maple butter. Lots of sauces to choose from. The meats were a riot of Smokey goodness. If you're in Watkins be sure to stop in. PS. Probably the best most thought out to go packaging I have ever seen. I really appreciated the thought behind it. No plastics, no wax cups. Cardboard with vents so your food doesn't get soggy on the journey home also included a bag to put it all in without asking. Top notch. picture included.

Perfect start. Guy next to us got a brisket sandwich with too much brisket. Big chucks sticking out all sides. Decision made for me. We got seated quickly and Nixon proceeded to take great care of us. Got tots and burnt brisket ends to start. We drove 4.5 hours, hiked along the gorge for 2.5 miles, on an orange, apple and banana-we devoured most of it. Kate got the slow smoked half chicken with baked beans and cornbread. 10/10 on the chicken. At first the beans seemed to katchupy, but as time went on they mellowed out. The cornbread was moist, cinnamon butter was great accompaniment and Nixon got us more. I got the 3 BBBs brisket, bacon and blue cheese. Grilled brioche bun, with brisket hanging out all over. The greens were spiced and flavorful. I never got to the porter ale the Jens recommended, but we'll be back. A little loud but staff was happy, friendly and proud of the product they were serving. They should be, every town could use a Nickel's Pit BBQ

We would have loved a place like this when we were on campus. This is probably an Ithaca 5. As in, for where you are, this is a good spot. When evaluating this place to a comparable offering in a bigger city, and it falls short. Staff were awesome. They came by when asked and were great. My favorite part of the entire place is the tablet ordering. I love places like that. You're not left waiting for someone to hopefully come by. Even refills and the check can be requested through the tablet, and that's great. As for the options on tbe menu when it came to BBQ, I wish they were a little better. The marinated meats lacked a little something that would take it to the next level for flavor. I found myself wishing for just a tiny bit more, but that's in comparison to coming from a bigger city with plentiful options. They had a self serve area with some foods and dessert. That was great as well.

To continue with my birthday celebration, Joseph suggests we come here to try the food. What a good choice! For my soup base, I choose the mushroom broth. It comes with light green onions and a touch of cilantro. By itself, the mushroom broth tastes delicious. From the menu, I pick the various mushrooms, broccoli, bok choy, watercress, shrimp and sole filet. It tastes like a feast! Joseph orders the meat selection which contains coby beef, and brisket. He orders the lotus root for me. In the back, Hot Pot Meets BBQ set up a sauce station. This station features various Asian sauces such as soy, cilantro, bbq, ponzu sauces. In the middle of the station, customers can choose various fruits such as pineapple and green melon. Near the end of the station, the staff sets up a seafood tray. The tray includes a mixture of shrimp, mussels, and cut corn in the cob. The wait staff explain to us of how to order the food. I give the wait staff an A+ for their service. The servers notice all the goes on in their restaurant. They quickly answer our questions. A fun part of dining here: Hot Pot Meets BBQ uses a robot to serve and take finished trays back. That deserves a star. Come and bring dates, friends, or even family.
