I spent over$17. and received the most basic burger, without cheese or bacon, just a little lettuce tomato and onion, only mayonnaise on bun, served with a bag of Lays potatoe chip. Date night, dressed up. Live music was great "Arcade Cowboys." Servers were polite. The food was over priced and poor quality. Had the wings($19), must have been made days ago, dry and tough. Buffalo salad($17), seriously one cup of romaine lettuce, a few pieces of tomato and blue cheese, about two ounces of buffalo chicken! And an order of coconut shrimp ($12), either overcooked and/or old oil, either way a very disappointing dinner. Don't see a reason to return other than for the music. read more

Relaxing atmosphere right on the bay. Picnic tables on the deck are large and sturdy. It was nice to have live music part of the time. Husband enjoyed the brew. Daughter loved the caesar salad with chicken. Fish and chips only came with 2 small pieces of fish. Very friendly staff. read more

We enjoy going there as they gave the best mahi mahi tacos. We enjoy sitting out of the patio to watch the the people going by and the beautiful scenery of Birch Bay. A couple of the waitresses have attitudes. One waitress gave us a bit of an attitude when she brought our order with fries, when we specifically ordered coleslaw, instead of fries. She should be checking to make sure the order is right before she brings it to the table. Another waitress gave us attitude when we moved to a table in the shade, when we requested a table in shade, but we're placed at a table partially in the sun. Today when we were there, a couple of the waitresses kept petting a couple of dogs out on the patio. When waitresses are serving customers & handling food/drinks, they should not be petting dogs. Who knows if they even washed their hands after petting the dogs, before going back to their customers. read more

Still the best Dive Bar in Birch Bay! Great people watching but rowdy and not Covid strict. I tried the fish tacos tonight and they're only $10. Pretty good but not much flavor so ask for some hot sauce. Or you could try the blackened ones those are probably good. This place is consistently lively now you know what to expect from food, service and loud crowd. When they have music people get up and dance! When I find myself in Birch Bay and in need of a little chillaxing, I look to The Beach and its huge outdoor seating area with beautiful views of the (actual) beach. Recently I was there during a camping trip to the nearby state park, and arrived just in time for happy hour and a couple of pints of Kulshan Red Ale at $1 off. I also enjoyed some tasty mozzarella sticks from the Boardwalk Cafe upstairs, and had a mini staycation right there in the sun. I *may* have even dozed off for a few minutes - but luckily I was alone so (hopefully) no embarrassing photos have appeared on Yelp. The next day I returned with friends to watch live music and enjoyed one of their seriously delicious scratch-made pina coladas, made with yogurt liqueur - something I'd never heard of but dang if that wasn't one of the most delicious and refreshing pina's I've had in recent memory. I know, I know, who would have thought you'd find a great tropical beverage at a little bar in Birch Bay? Well, now you know! They also have a nice selection of beer on tap, both local craft brews and a couple of the requisite national "lite" brands. My friend's hubby ordered a giant Caesar and it was quite delicious - including a garnish of quite possibly one of the best pieces of bacon I've ever tasted. When the band gets going the people start dancing, and it's easy to pretend you're on vacation at a faraway beach. This is definitely a fun, local spot right here in good ol' Whatcom County! read more

A very fun place to listen to live local bands! The ambience is kind of like a southern California or Hawaii beach bar.

As they say, it's the best 5-star dive bar! But there's nothing "dive" about their burgers...Except maybe Dive In! I prefer to order with onion rings, although the fries are excellent--they are hand-battered on site. Current favorite, the black & blue burger! Still one of the only places you can order a pitcher of beer too. Often super local music. read more

We were very grateful to be served last night. Food was pretty good on a day they had been super busy and didn't have many things to offer. Even though they were out of a lot, it wasn't an issue for us as we weren't ordering those items anyway. The staff was very kind and generous and made us feel welcome. We could tell by the looks of the waterfront across the street it had been a very busy couple of days in the area for the 4th of July. The waitress felt really bad they didn't have everything on the menu to offer us but like I said, it wasn't stuff we were in the mood to order so it didn't affect us at all. My husband and I came to visit Birch Bay for our wedding anniversary and came here for dinner our first night. We were pretty let down especially after reading the good reviews. To drink he got water and I got a ginger ale. If you closed your eyes and drank out of both you wouldn't know which was supposed to be a ginger ale. To eat we each got fish and chips and I got a salad. The fish wasn't anything special. It was dry and had no flavor. There were no lemons or malt vinegar to put on them to try and give some flavor. Instead they offered limes. The salad had no flavor. The only thing we enjoyed were the fries. They were crisp and had a nice flavor. The meal was not worth the $70 (total with tax and tip). I would not recommend this place to anyone visiting unless you want fries. read more

Mixed review... The Beach at Birch is a karaoke bar. Looked like a great place. Lots of live entertainment and laughter. The Boardwalk Restaurant that use to be part of Birch Beach bar is under new ownership since 12/2017. We met the new owners. Very nice people. Planning to change up menu soon. We hope to see larger portions. The clam chowder was really good. However you buy it in a cup or bowl. The bowl size of chowder was very small (about 8 oz). The fries in my poutine were very good, not enough cheese curds and the gravy is fine, the onion rings were ok. Others in my Thursday trivia group had fish & chips and the black & Bleu burger, both were enjoyed, although the fish had the appearance of being overcooked, staff was friendly but mostly self-service. The questions were tough but fun cost for the trivia is $10 per person plus tip for the announcer and crew. My cost for the entire 3 hours was $29 I did not have any drinks. Parking is challenging, I will return for another try but maybe in warmer weather. read more
