Oh yeah, great place. A true historic neighborhood pub, with most of the customers seeming to know each other. A mature and somewhat older crowd, with lots of smiles and camaraderie, and great service by the staff. They have a hamburger special on Friday nights, which is a big draw. The floor is usually covered with pull tab rejects. They have a sound system, but it has never been so loud as to interfere with conversation. Once a month a group of us go to a different "dive bar" and this month we chose Tony's Tavern and it did not disappoint. The ladies working behind the bar were very friendly and the service was great. We all had burgers, which were very good and the fries were the best. I don't usually eat my fries, but these were crispy and not at all greasy. They even had gluten free buns. We arrived during happy hour, which gifted you a double for the price of a single, plus another dollar off. I just had water, but it was reported from the friends I was with that the drinks were poured with a heavy hand. The ambience was perfect for a dive bar and so far, this place is one of our favorites for a dive bar experience. So, if you are looking for a casual, friendly place with good food and service, venture up to the small town of Custer. read more

A Dark Tavern off the Highway in the Middle of No Where which is Custer WA. Half Way between Ferndale and Birch Bay. Custer is a small town with a Never Say Die Spirit. The Bar has a Cute Little Jail in front and I have actually seen people being held in the jail as part of local fundraiser. Sadly I was too involved in my bike ride that day to stop. We went to check out the remodel. The building looks great. We would have stayed and had drinks and pull tabs for longer than we did, but the bartender, Cassie I think was horrible. She has no humor or personality. Another customer sat down beside us and sat there for 10 minutes without her ever coming by as she was chatting it up at one of the booths. He finally left with her having never even taken his order or brought a drink to him. The other woman behind the bar was working or tail off and this girl was just useless in my opinion. read more

They stock Quilter's Irish Death, my favorite brew, so they automatically earn some points. Bartender & cook were both friendly and efficient. We ordered burgers all around and they were standard "Bubba Burger" quality. The fries were special though, with a nice crisp shell. read more

Well we've been here about 8 months and Tony's had been recommended to have the BEST burgers so it's Christmas Eve and we decided to try them out. It's a tavern that's exactly like a tavern nothing special. The juke box is pretty good and there are a lot of neat pictures on the walls. If you're not sitting at the bar and are a regular don't expect any kind of quick friendly service. The bartenders can't seem to do more than one order at a time and you just have to wait to place a food order after the beers hit the table. The burgers came out quick and were hot. They reminded me of an old school drive up burger & fries--nothing real special but hot. They are definitely a $5 burger you can get on Fridays but not worth $9 any other time. We never got a second round of beers because neither bartender came back by. We had to go to the end of the bar and wait to be noticed for the check. I don't think a tip was in order because we were ignored the entire time. I've worked in this type of business before so I know things get crazy but this was not that. I don't think they liked leaving behind the bar to serve people food and were entirely too busy with the pull tab things. Overall, the burgers are OK but the service...yeah, it needs MUCH improvement if pull tabs are more important than paying/tipping customers. On a side note, the door needs to be fixed to shut all the way so someone doesn't have to get up and shut it to keep the cold wind out. read more

I have been here many times. Always had to wait a little while on Fridays because of the special hamburger lunch. Today 4 of us arrived at 1pm for lunch. The place was packed. We waited a while to place our drink order and food order but they were busy. After ordering we waited about 45 minutes and the waitress told us it would be about 5 more minutes. We saw 2 tables of people get their food that came in 30 minutes after us. I asked again and she said some people call in their orders. I waited awhile and asked the people if they called in the order and they said no. Finally 2:30 and I told the waitress to cancel the orders. The cook said ours was next! Yeah! There were only 5 people left in the restaurant. The waitress kept lying to me about what happened. I told her she should just say she lost our ticket instead of continuing to lie about it. I guess if you're not a local you get treated different. Too bad because we really enjoy the place. Ruined the rest of the day for all 4 of us. If you screw up just admit it. Don't make up lies! Still cost $26 for a pitcher of beer and 2 drinks! So much for the $5 hamburger. read more

Best little bar in town! Granted, Custer isn't exactly a booming city, but hey, Tony's is great! Fun atmosphere, a little local history (family owned for over 60 years) and a place where they know your name. I recommend you get off the highway and head to downtown Custer for a beer. read more

I have been there five times now and I'm done going there. The bartenders are busier than they should be. Running a lot of pull tab business, food orders, drinks and beer. No time for the customers. Besides that the women staff are always complaining about each others lack of effort. I wish the owner would come in sometime and show all of us how to do it correctly, happy staff and customers. Another comment for the owner, spend some of the pull tab profits on a grill with an exhaust hood. You can buy a used one. My goodness, making those women cook hamburgers on a giant counter top oven/broiler is a joke. Oh well another poorly managed operation I'll never support again. Good luck to the crew! read more

This is the only bar I like. It's a small friendly place. The girls that work there, Sue and Nicole are awesome. They serve the best ceasars with asparagus, bean and olive. I'd rather eat live cockroaches (and from the looks I may have done just that) than to step foot into this despicable "restaurant '. I've given this establishment about three tries and each time it's something else. I'll just refer to my last visit. I sat down and the server with the dark hair looked straight at me and as I smiled at her, she decided I wasn't worth the effort to smile back or at the very least, offer me a drink. This is a bar after all. After sitting for ten minutes, watching Ms. Lord forbid I should WORK chatting with the three male customers there, the other server was finally able to help me after busting her butt WORKING. I was able to order food (now to go) and a bottled water. When I got the food, I noticed a rather large discrepancy in the bill. Now Ms Lord Forbid I should WORK acknowledged me, immediately telling me she hadn't changed the prices on the posted menu in some time and for good measure she said she was going to charge me even MORE because my food cost more to go. I opted not to give her the satisfaction of an argument. The food was ok but not worth the extra $6 or so I was charged extra. How SAD that making up prices as she sees fit is her version of customer service. I can assure her that this is NOT the way to keep customers. Word of warning to the brave people willing to come here-DO NOT say anything about the price discrepancies-it will go up even more!!!! bad service. My husband and I took my parents there while they were in town on a visit. I had previously ordered take out but had never eaten in the bar. we went in and had a seat and no one attended to us. we probably sat there for 15 minutes when an older lady finally came up to us and said are you going to order anything or not. Wow! I was so embarrassed I didn't know what to say. We all looked at each other and said no thanks and left. How are they even in business! read more
