What a treasure find! This would be if you took a bucket to the beach to play in the sand and came back with a diamond. There are 55 flavors of ice cream and so many to choose from. I sampled Wizards Brew, Shores, Just Take My Money, and Dark Chocolate and Peanut Butter. I could have tried 51 more but that would have taken a looking time. I wanted a milkshake to drink while I was driving home and couldn't decide between Smores or Just Take My Money. The girl who made my milkshake suggested why don't I just have both? That was brilliant as it turned out to be a Chocolate Caramel type of Smore. One thing the Midwest does fantastic is ice cream! Besides ice cream, there is Bubble Tea, Fudge, and lots of snack type of food. Picnic tables are outside with interesting yard decorations. Five stars for The Beach Bucket's offerings--there is sooo much to choose from when it comes to sweets. Expect not only all the ice cream your heart desires but also ice cream cakes, fudge, popcorn, mini donuts, and savory lunch grub. Five stars for friendly staff and service--Having the cash register outside is great and keeps things moving inside. Four stars for the ice cream--Again, there's so much to choose from, but the Moo-ville flavors aren't always potent. I was disappointed with my gooey butter cake and peanut butter brownie. Recently, I learned that some of their classic flavors are award-winning (vanilla and strawberry). Perhaps I need to go in that direction next time. I tried the flight of chocolinator, amaretto cherry chip, raspberry truffle, and cake batter. Chocolate was my favorite, cake batter least favorite. Staff is friendly. There wasn't anything special about the quality of the ice cream but it was ok. I prefer Hudsonville. They give you the flight on a wooden board in separate cups. It looks cute, but I would prefer they just put it in one big cup. Then you have to bring the wooden board back inside when you are done and the ice cream is overflowing the little cups and it is melting everywhere, not ideal. read more

Would not recommend the food. Got two cheese burgers and they were disgusting. Nacho cheese and microwave patties. However it only took 2 minutes to get the food - so service was quick. Ice cream looked good, did not try. Definitely a not known for their food. read more

We stopped by for ice cream at the end of the day. This place gets a lot of business being across Warren Dunes. There were a TON of flavors but we settled on Birthday Cake, Cotton Candy, Pistachio, Chocolate-something and Honey Lavendar. The employees were super nice and prepared to engage with customers. It has a large variety of delicious flavors of ice cream as well as some other food and dessert options. The size of the scoops were worth the price. Website said they were open until 10. We go up five after nine. The girl says we close at nine until memorial weekend. You can come back tomorrow. We go back the next day at 8:15 PM. Young guy standing in front of the closed sign says we're open until 8 PM. I told him we were up here the day before and the girl says you're open till nine. He just shrugged his shoulders and says no 8 o'clock. read more

Went for ice cream to the Beach Bucket. This little shop is across the street from Warren Dunes State Park. From time to time they will get slammed from the park crowd, but to their credit they have plenty of workers ready to serve scoops. We went early evening before the crowd came after the sun set. The staff had cool tee shirts that promoted ice cream. (See pic). We came for the ice cream and they serve huge scoops! You can get great homemade waffle cones as well. The night we were there they offered 38 flavors; All the standards; vanilla, chocolate, chocolate chip, strawberry, etc, and the more complex; grass hopper, moose tracks, cake batter, and the Michigan favorite Mackinac Island Fudge. Speaking of fudge...they also make their own fudge in house. Didn't try it, but they do have a deal based on the more flavors you buy. If you are in the area spending a day at the Lake, or want something sweet after being on the Beer Trail...this is the place. read more

They have a butterbeer flavor called "wizard's brew". I bought the flight and split it with someone. Caramel, berry, Traverse City cherries and pistachio. Prices for Michigan-made ice cream are reasonable. The pulled pork sandwich wasn't amazing nor terrible. I wouldn't drive all the way here for their food but if you're in the area then definitely stop by! read more

The ice cream was delicious! I am however very disappointed that they do not have a mask policy and their employees are not wearing masks. There is a sign outside specifically stating Michigan does not require it if you do not dine in. This, to me, discourages patrons and employees against wearing a face covering. Very upsetting to see this. In the middle of this pandemic, this very small "inconvenience" will go a long way at saving lives. read more

Mark and Amri gave absolutely fantastic service, regardless of how many of us there were. I personally got a chili cheese dog, and that was the best chili cheese dog I've ever had, honest to god. I don't usually post reviews but man that place was just so fantastic. If you go to the Warren Dunes in Michigan, it's just right across the street from the dunes! Absolutely pay them a visit. This place is a must-stop destination. Located directly across from the entrance to Warren Dunes State Park on the Red Arrow Highway, this ice cream shop is a delight. I was intrigued by some interesting flavors like honeycomb, lemon poppyseed, and dill pickle. The lemon poppyseed ice cream is the thing dreams are made of. My husband prefers the classic chocolate and says it's the best he's had. Friendly staff, the owner loves to talk about his business, too, so look for him. When we come to Michigan, it's the first place we head to. We visit many more times before we leave. You can't go wrong here. Check them out! And don't forget to tip! read more

Amazing ice cream, with over 50 flavors, and prices are reasonable. Outdoor seating, including covered seating in the shade. Highly recommend this place for ice cream. Friendly service too! Going to warren dunes and stopping by the beach bucket has long been tradition and a highlight for my family. This weekend we went for an off season trip to a cabin and stopped by The Beach Bucket for ice cream. I was in absolute shock to see out of the four people working behind the counter NOT A SINGLE ONE WAS WEARING A MASK. If COVID safety is important please do not go there. I guess I should have known with all the military decor and the framed photo of Kid Rock on the wall that I couldn't expect these people to actually believe in science. It's disgusting, irresponsible and dangerous given the surge going on in Michigan. The people working were clearly the owners. I doubt I'll come back. I like small business that prioritize their communities, safety, and respect. You'd think a business that flaunts their military service would care enough about Americans to keep them safe while SERVING FOOD. But I guess not. Do better guys. A mask won't kill you. But COVID could. read more

Small town feel with huge selection of SO many good flavors. They let you sample as many as you like and the staff is very generous. So disappointing. Staying across the street at Warren Dunes campground and was always curious about this place. Got out with our masks on. Hubby stepped halfway into the doorway, young girl said hi, he noticed she didn't even have a mask at all so we agreed beforehand after reading other reviews on that, we wouldn't even go in, if that was still the case. As I sit writing this, a grown man walked out with no mask and a teen girl walked into the store with no mask!. Everywhere around town has signs. why is this place not following guidelines? Why would you put customer's lives at risk or your own? My best friend in a nursing home was in ICU for 5 days and on oxygen for 2 months and is a Covid-19 long-hauler. It's real! You lost our sale. Happy to spend our money elsewhere. read more

Established in 2012.

Family owned and operated. We opened in May of 2012. For those of you who have traveled or camped in this area. You will recognize the ice cream shop as the last of the Warren Dunes Hotel that was torn down 5 years ago. We started with a single 25 year old Kelvinator freezer and 14 flavors. We now have 3 new freezers with 40 flavors. We would like to thank all of the customers who have visited and returned to our store. Without you, we woudln't be here. For that we are grateful. They have a number system so once you enter, be sure to grab a ticket with a number on it and it'll flash on the screen. There were a few groups who came in who were unaware of that and so the lines and ordering process was a tad chaotic. Eventually one of the staff mentioned something about grabbing a ticket and it was easily sorted. Everyone working was very friendly and patient which is a huge plus. I tried out one of their cherry and chocolate ice cream flavors. So tasty! I also love knowing you can get a half scoop as well although it was still so much ice cream. The perfect place for a sweet treat!

This place is absolutely perfect. They have updated the parlor to be no more than welcoming, friendly, accepting, and fun! While it's the looks that attract me (the wood carved bears, the nice open colors, the outdoor seating, etc.), the amount of detail they put into making this a perfect haven for everyone is what I love so much about it. They have gender neutral restrooms, which is amazing for people who don't quite fit into the classic male or female category, and they have wireless payments, which is personally what I use (Apple Pay). The parlor has tons of different food and drink options to choose from, such as ice cream (soft serve or hard scooped), different cones for said ice cream (waffle cone, cake cone), there's lots of different smoothies to choose from, they have baked treats like brownies and cakes, they also sell cool things like different flavors of popcorn and cotton candy. As you can tell, this is not just an ice cream parlor, this is a place everyone can feel welcomed and not left out. I believe that the first time I went there was in 1988 when I was 16 (my two older cousins were raised in Union Pier), and since I visit SW MI at least twice a year, I never leave without going to Oink's before coming home. As I always took my kids to Warren Dunes instead of Chicago beaches, my kids always got to enjoy Oink's before coming back home also! So this year was no different and my wife and I got to sit down and enjoy ice cream before coming back home. I have always loved the different ice cream flavors (especially strawberry cheesecake), and as I always do, I bought a few pig keychains and other things from the gift shop. I also have always loved the old-school vibe! So every time I am up that way, I'll be there!! One last thing: I got to meet Coach Vink back in the day because my older two cousins (The McSmith brothers, who both passed away unexpectedly in 2024 and 2025), played for him at New Buffalo High School. Coach was a good dude, and I was sorry to hear of his passing. So, see you next time I'm up there!

There's a parking lot and other fun places in walking distance as well to check out. The decor in Oink's will never leave you bored. There is so much to look at! They have a number system so once you enter, be sure to grab a ticket with a number on it and it'll flash on the screen. There were a few groups who came in who were unaware of that and so the lines and ordering process was a tad chaotic. Eventually one of the staff mentioned something about grabbing a ticket and it was easily sorted. Everyone working was very friendly and patient which is a huge plus. I tried out one of their cherry and chocolate ice cream flavors. So tasty! I also love knowing you can get a half scoop as well although it was still so much ice cream. The perfect place for a sweet treat!

The are supposedly famous for their strawberry shakes so that's what I tried. According to the gal working the window, they use fresh strawberries which draws the attention of a lot of people. The shake was great but I will admit that the big strawberry chunks sometimes made it difficult to sip from the straw. Definitely hope to come back to try some ice cream though because they have some fun and unique flavors!
