I hate to do this, but I was grossly underwhelmed by both of my experiences here. Enticed by the option to pair my appointment with a cocktail, I came to The Beauty Bar two weeks ago as well as today and left dissatisfied both times. The first after being told by the nail artist that she did not have enough time in her schedule to give me a dip manicure because I still had old dip on my nails, due to a miscommunication on the phone with reception when I was only told I needed to remove my old dip prior to coming in if I took an earlier appointment, which I declined. I then opted for gel by recommendation, and while Christy, who did my nails, and the staff were very friendly and the salon was very chicly decorated, the gel started lifting after just a day or two. Not worth it. Giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming I am just hard on my nails, I just left my second appointment. Please see attached pictures. At least one of my cuticles is still bleeding, and I honestly believe I could have given myself a better French manicure at home with a makeup sponge. I think these look horrible. The decals are what really frustrated me. These pictures are taken in my car outside of the salon right after my appointment, and you can see the decal on my left hand didn't even make it to reception before chipping off 1/4 of it. When I showed the lady at reception before paying and asked if decals are supposed to chip that fast, she said she didn't know and handed me my tab. They remind me of nail decals I would get at the Scholastic Book Fair in elementary school, and they are struggling to stick to my nails just as poorly. You can see what's left of both decals lifting already and I was also declined faux tips. Definitely not worth close to $70+ (not including my drink). Thankfully I was not asked if I still wanted to go through with the pedicure I had booked as well. What seemed from reviews to be an elevated experience and a salon that prides themselves in superior quality provided a service more lackluster than the run of the mill nail salon. I just moved to the area and was looking to get a pedicure since it has been a while since I've had one. I saw this place here on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Booking online was easy and I was able to get an appointment fairly quick. When I arrived, I was greeted and staff seemed friendly. There were several color options to choose from, but not an overwhelming amount like some nail salons have. My pedicure was nice and relaxing and the girl who did it took her time. This was my first time in, scheduled their facial special. I arrived 10 min early so that I could enjoy one of their cocktails I saw online. When I checked, she just told me to sit down and left me alone. While I was waiting I watched an older woman getting a manicure and she looked uncomfortable, leaned over the bar with her fresh pedicured feet on the barstool rungs. The manicure area is a 'bar' which is a cute idea, but didn't look comfy. My facial was OK. I'm not sure what products they use. The table you lay on wasn't comfortable and the weighted blanket over me was very heavy. There were many details of the facial that fell short of my expectations. We were promptly seated and offered something to drink. The two ladies assisting us were so nice and we had great conversations! My friend has been there for hair cuts and loved their work also. You should definitely call ahead as soon as you know you need an appointment and don't expect to get in right away especially if you need multiple services (i.e. Mani and Pedi). I have been looking for a new place for a while to get my eyebrows and nails done after some research I came across the Beauty bar Geist. I made an appointment and was luckily able to get in at the end of the day on Monday. I was very impressed all around the location is fancy but not overstated and the staff is very professional. I first got my eyebrows done which was great my tech took her time and made sure she got the shape correct and even made sure that I had a soothing skin serum after. I was very happy with how my eyebrows turned out she's going to be my go to person from here on out. I had to wait a bit for my nails but that's OK I was prepared and I got a powder Dipset done. The nails looked amazing and I didn't get one cut on my finger which has been a problem at other locations for me. A fun perk as you can get cocktails as you get your services done I had a delicious champagne and violet cocktail that was very tasty and just the right amount of sweet. A darling little spot and a step up from your traditional manicure experience. The nail bar perfectly pairs your mani or pedi (or both!) with a signature cocktail. Its the perfect spot for a girls day out and you'll certainly leave feeling pampered. There are all kinds of add ons you can add to your experience to make it ultra luxurious- but these add ons left me unimpressed. I love that you can get a complementary soft drink, tea, coffee, or water during your time there. My only complaint is the lack of staff. Welcomed upon arrival and asked if I was there for nails or hair, I took in the chic décor and then perused the drink menu. I was meeting some friends for pedicures and I was the first to arrive. I ordered the Blonde Bombshell, with crème de violette, Elderflower, and Brut. It is actually violet in color so don't be shocked and think you ordered the wrong drink! It was sweet and easy to sip on. I was brought over to the area where they do the pedicures and there is a row of a good 6 or so chairs with massage options and a tv mounted on the wall. It was my birthday this past Saturday and while I really wanted to indulge in sugar pie w/the Yelp Elites, I was told my day would begin at 10 AM and that I better not have my hands in it. Just get dressed and move my feet. Since this is not a review about my fabulous birthday, I will cut right to the point. I had an 11 am appointment at the Beauty Bar !!! YAYYYYYY!!!!! Perfect surprise and the BB did NOT let me down. Lets talk customer service: The ladies are very friendly and upbeat. For the early cold morning of 1/23, they didn't seem to have lost an ounce of sleep. They were cheerful, having lightweight conversations with the customers and also providing outstanding customer service. I wish I could remember the names of the young lady that took care of me. She was pretty awesome and helped make the day special. After showing me the ropes and taking my coat and scarf, she brought me a drink menu and gave me a chance to take a look at it and my nail polish. I was there for a mani/pedi. I was informed of the birthday club and how that worked, which includes $5 for your birthday month. As I got my pedicure done, she brought over my first glass of Reisling. She also went ahead and key'd me in on the kiosk sign in for the club so that I could receive my five bucks (which I used on a glass of wine). The drinks on the menu range from hard drinks to a few selected beers and of course every girl's favorite, WINE !!!! There were a few different wine selections, all priced very well. The pedi area has a flat screen and open windows so there is a lot of light throughout the building. I think upstairs is the salon part of it. I never ventured up there. The pedi was wonderful. The nail tech was gentle with my feet and I didn't leave with too many layers of foot buffed off and now red (i've had that happen before). The manicure's are done at the 'bar' area. There is a long bar with several stations, spaced apart with enough breathing room for everyone. Music is playing and it sounded like Top 40; pretty good selections. There was something for everyone to bob their head, drink wine and get pampered to. Another flatscreen was in the mani area. Again my nail tech did an amazing job on my manicure. She got it all done in about an hour, and offered me another glass of Reisling, to which I buzzily obliged !!! I will definitely be back here. Many more times. I've already told my sister that we MUST make a girl's date here. How can you go wrong with wine and pampering. The bathrooms were even inviting. It's a one person bathroom and the toilet is separated from the sink and a table of carefully folded towels (to dry your hands and toss in the used basket). There was art on the wall, good lighting, a nice sized mirror and privacy that didn't make you second guess whether or not the entire building could hear you. I unfortunately dropped a ring in the toilet, but that's another story, another day. #Splat The Beauty Bar is very inviting. Again, I love the natural light which is abundant, the open air which is breathable and the friendliness of all the staff. Leaving with my nails and toes done in a near a metallic looking gold color and a birthday buzz from glasses of Reisling is nothing to complain about. Matter a fact, it deserved a Yelp nod. My friend and I decided to get pedicures here today since neither one of us had been before. The place has a very high end salon feel to it and the people were very nice and friendly. I ordered the Blonde Bombshell drink with elderflower liquor and it was amazing! I don't know how I've lived this long without having a cocktail with a pedicure! However to my disappointment, the gel manicure did not last. My manicurist said it would last at least 2 weeks. 3 weeks if I was careful. After 4 days, all the polish has chipped. I live in Denver but am originally from Indy. In Denver, having some wine with your pedi is the norm; but Indy has never had a salon that serves until now. The last couple of times I've been back I've made sure to stop by Beauty Bar at Geist to get my drink on while getting pretty. The first time I visited (October 2014), my mom, sister and I had champagne during our pedis, which turned out beautifully. I also got to try the Blonde Bombshell cocktail (with elderflower), which was AMAZING. The pedicure area has super comfortable leather massage chairs and plenty of mags. My pedi lasted for weeks (including the obligatory glitter party nail) and was very relaxing. The second time I visited (January 2015), I got balayage by Kimber. Balayage is the softer cousin to highlights and ombre, with painted on color and no foils. Kimber did an amazing job and took her time to explain the technique to me as she went. While my color was developing, I got a nice foot soak and moisturizing massage - a pretty solid way to pass the time! tl;dr...The Beauty Bar at Geist is a must-go when in Indy! read more

This is the second time I have been to this salon. The first time was an average experience and the salon is so close to me that I decided to give it another try but I wanted to see a different stylist. After a long hair consultation and explaining exactly what I wanted (all over color, no foils) the stylist ended up convincing me I could get the look I wanted by starting with foils and then putting color on the base of my head. After over two hours and $200 later, my hair didn't look any different than when I came in. I'm overall pretty disappointed and will not be returning to this salon.
