Came here for dinner while in town for a trade show. Sat at the bar. Restaurant is part of Gibson's. Diverse menu. Ordered the Whifish plank with mashed potatoes and a garden salad for $34. Had a Blue Moon. Service was prompt. Nice ambiance. Nice salad and bread. Huge piece of white fish and potatoes. All very good.

Came here for happy hour and I wasn't impressed nor disappointed by the food. But the prices are definitely pretty hard to beat. Our server was very lovely and accommodating. The ambiance inside was very nice and well decorated.

I'm the heart of the V-Triangle lies Hugo Frog Bar. This restaurant is in a shared kitchen with Gibsons, serving top quality steaks and service. This is definitely a space to reserve so you can guarantee yourself a seat in this old school charm of a steakhouse. We started with some appetizers and they're all highly recommended. The oysters were clean finishes, escargot piping hot, and frog legs perfectly tender. All entrees also come with either a soup or salad, a rarity in upper class steakhouses. Steaks are cooked to perfection and fishes are seared perfectly! Oh yes, it's also a fish house, so order from land or sea and it'll be delightful either way. The monstrous cake turns out to be a quarter of a whole cake, which is gigantic, as you can see. Delectable and delightful. The servers and bussers were fantastic. They were attentive and kind. Always helpful but not overbearing. Hugo Frog Bar is a great place for all types of food and impecable service.

This place is so nice. There's plenty of seating including the bar area. We didn't order drinks but the shrimp rolls were really good, especially with the side of homemade chips. We also got their oysters which is half off during happy hour and it was relay good. The eats coast oysters were the best. Definitely will be coming back to try other things on the menu. The service here is absolutely amazing.

Came here for happy hour and it's such a cute and nice place! It's a seat yourself place so where ever there's open seats or table, please seat yourself. Which I have never heard before and it was so nice. We got their oysters both east and west coast and I preferred the east coast more but it was so good. Their shrimp rolls was really good as well with so much flavors and a side of homemade chips. The service here was truly amazing! She gave us her recommendation and really checked up on us from time to time. Will be coming back to try their other foods on the menu.

Hugo's is a gem!! Same kitchen as Gibbons next door, so if you can't get in there, this is your move. The ambiance is one of a real steakhouse and the staff is very attentive and friendly. We kept saying they have real waiters and service here, even better than NYC. Started with martinis and the blue cheese olives, which shocked me because I usually hate blue cheese. These were creamy, mild, and hands-down the best olives I've ever had and we couldn't stop ordering more. Apps were so good! Crab cake packed with real crab, and oysters Rockefeller loaded with creamed spinach (one of the best versions I've had). The calamari was also sooo good and fresh. My friend ordered the clam chowder which I tried and it was also delicious. For mains, the T-bone was cooked a perfect medium-rare, rich and flavorful, and we ordered a side of creamed spinach that was delicious. Creamed spinach isn't on the menu but if you ask for it they will make it. Caesar was solid but standard. Dessert is no joke here and a must order. "Slices" of carrot cake are like 1/4th the cake and key lime pie are massive and both taste as good as they look. You have to get these. This spot is a must when in Chicago and worth every bite. Good was amazing.

After the fitting at Enzo Custom (see review), the Queen and I made dinner reservations to eat at Hugo's. The Queen was excited because she had heard my tales of dining and drinking in the Viagra Triangle back in its heyday, and Hugo's was one of those stops. While the shenanigans of the olden days were not on display, it was good to see that the quality of the food and service was still the same, simply excellent. It felt like old home week Because it was the Queen's first time going, we definitely started with the frog's legs. Those legs are small but oh so good! They are tender and succulent, covered in that lovely lemony butter. I would have loved another order, but we ordered multiple starters and wanted to save room for dessert. Hugo's is known for their oysters, so we got a dozen East Coast ones and the Oysters Rockefeller. We love East Coast oysters as they have a creamy texture and taste that we love. Not sure what it was, but there was this green icy condiment served with the oysters that was intriguing. It was really good. The Oysters Rockefeller were also very good. I know that this style of oyster is not for everyone, but I absolutely love the spinach mixture and fennel on top of the warm oyster. For dinner, I got a steak and The Doctor/The Queen got fish, with several side dishes: the lump crab mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. The lump crab mac and cheese was great, with a nice creamy texture. There was a nice amount of crab meat in the dish, so I was satisfied. The potatoes were very good too, nice and creamy. Didn't try the asparagus as it does not sit well with me, but The Doctor and The Queen said they were good. My steak was just to die for as it was just tender and flavorful. The Doctor/The Queen both said that their fish was very good. I had a taste of the Tuna and I have to say it was pretty good. For dessert we shared the strawberry shortcake which was very yummy and big enough to feed 4-5 people. We ended up finishing up all of the strawberries and some of the cake. Our server was just wonderful, attentive and very pleasant. He was so nice that he sent us home with a giant piece of carrot cake that took us days to finish. While the old floor shows I use to see back in the day have been long gone, the charm, service and food are still there and are still killing it. I will definitely be paying a visit back to Hugo's, if only to get them tasty frog legs.

We had a great dining experience at Hugo's Frog Bar and Fish House. Our server Frank M. was fantastic and attentive, he truly made the experience even better. Starting the evening off with fresh bread and butter is a nice touch. We ordered several dishes, the portions were very large and left us incredibly full. For starters, I had the clam chowder, which was the best clam chowder I've ever had. The restaurant was great to divide our meals for those of us sharing as well. The shrimp with rice and a butter sauce may have been the favorite dish we all sampled. For the price, you expect great food and service, Hugo's did just that!

From start to finish, an amazing experience! I have been multiple times in the last 2 months because I have so much fun, the food is amazing and the staff is wonderful! From the moment we checked in with the lead Hostess, Nordon, she was sooo sweet and accommodating! I absolutely LOVE the bar area, there has been a piano man playing the last three times I've gone (not sure if he's there every night, but I have seen him there on Thursdays and Fridays! I've sat at the bar a couple times and I had the pleasure of having Greg serve us and he's 1. A great bartender 2. The nicest and most fun to be served by! The food... yummy... I have NEVER been interested in trying frog legs, but so many people posted and it is called Hugo's FROG bar... so I decided to be adventurous, let me say.. did NOT disappoint. That sauce it is in is heavenly... it has gone from appetizer option to my straight up entree option ... I like to get a side of fries... thin and crispy, delicious to dip in the frog leg sauce! My sister RAVED about the crab cakes and carrot cake and YUMMMM! I don't like crab cake or Rockefeller oysters and everything was delicious. Hands down, best I've had! The drinks are well made and strong! I will be back for sure! A lot!

Sydney was my partner and I's server last night and she made the experience amazing. She was the most intuitive and knowledgeable service we've had in the time we've lived in the city. She was so on top of what we might need that it was all taken care of before we could ask for it. Our steak came a bit undercooked and she whisked it back to the kitchen before we even had the chance to debate if it was worth saying something. She was able to recommend wines based on our preference and offer suggestions for our meal to come out as ideally as possible. We had the crab cake and seared tuna appetizer and a filet to share for an entree with a side of crab Mac and cheese. The food was spectacular as always but having someone like Sydney is what made tonight such a standout, even in a city as known for memorable dining as Chicago.

    Miso Marinated Chilean Sea Bass

First time visiting Chicago. Hugo's was recommended as a good place to go for my birthday dinner. My husband ordered the sea bass and it was the best we've ever had - melt in your mouth good! I ordered the white fish. It was good, but I wish I would've ordered the sea bass too! The food was excellent but service was just ok. For starters, we had to wait an additional 30 minutes after our reservation time for our table. We went on a Saturday night & had reservations for 8:00 (party of 4). They were busy, but it was frustrating to wait that long. Second, 3 of our 4 meals were ready on time, but my husband's food came about 10 minutes late. We had water, but sat with empty drinks for most of our dinner. For a restaurant this nice I expected better. That's why I'm giving it 3 stars.

Wow wow wow Hugo's was even better than I expected!!!!! We got so much food and everything was a 10/10. This place is ALWAYS busy, so definitely make a reservation or be prepared for a little bit of a wait if you have more than 2 people in your party. The inside has a very classic, traditional steakhouse feel to it. They also have a few patio tables. They only bring out bread upon request so make sure to ask your server for some when you get seated. My favorite thing we ordered was the lobster rolls. They did not skimp on the lobster so they were worth the money. The rolls they came in were lightly toasted, soft on the inside and drenched it butter (in the best possible way). The chips were a nice touch, but I ended up using them to each my crab cake which was also stuffed with lots of crab meat. We also got streak frites that came with the most delicious herbed butter sauce on the side. It was so good we ordered 2 more sides of it to eat with the rest of our meal. Our steak was a little more rare than we wanted it (ordered medium rare) so keep that in mind when ordering. Brussel sprouts were also amazing & would order those again along with everything else we got. Can't wait to go back!!!!!!!!

Great experience. Our goal was to eat at neighboring Gibson's Steakhouse. There was no availability. The hostess told us about Hugo's and we lucked up with getting a tabke. She also offered that both restaurants share a kitchen and that we could order from either menu. Well it was the best of both worlds. I enjoyed New England clam chowder with filet sliders and fries. It was wonderful as was the service.

We ordered a flight of whiskey sours, which contained whiskeys from Japan, Vietnam, and Wisconsin. As far as the whiskey flights go, I think the best one was the Vietnam flight because it had a slightly lemongrass twang and was a little bit lighter than the other two. We had visited Florence last year, and one of the numerous wonderful moments of our trip to Italy was seeing "Il Porcellino" - the lucky bronze boar fountain that draws tourists from around the world. Did I mention that the weekday Happy Hour (4-6PM) specials are quite good? The specials are served only at the bar area, so you might have to wait a few minutes for available seating. We started with some drinks, including two kinds of Negroni. The wild mushroom arancini (5 little balls for $6) were the smallest I've tried, but they were creamy and melt-in-your mouth delicious. The whipped ricotta and jam beautifully served on a strip of toasty focaccia was a unique taste sensation. Prime beef meatballs and short rib sliders on toasted ciabatta bread also hit the spot.
