I became a fan. At that point, few sub chains toasted their bread. Scrubway (Jennifer P. needs to copyright it, as I use it all the time now) didn't do it. Neither did Mr Sub. When I moved back to the GTA, there were a few Quiznos stores nearby. One was where my local Scrubway is, roughly five minutes away. The other one was closer to my workplace at the time, at McCowan and Sheppard Avenue East in Scarborough. Both are long gone. Frankly, the only Quiznos that I dropped by recently was on Bay Street, a few blocks away from Scotiabank Arena. I'd go there for a quick bite before a concert. The other evening, I was driving from Canadian Tire to Song Tea along Woodbine Avenue. My head turned when I saw the Quiznos sign to my left. Where have I been and why hadn't I ever noticed this sign? I kept thinking about it. I decided to fetch dinner here last Saturday. After getting my bubble tea, I drove over to this eatery. This Quiznos is in a plaza, a couple of doors down from Mi Ne Sushi, a place that I frequented perhaps eight years ago or so. I found a parking spot halfway down the row of parked cars and backed into it. I walked in and got a woman who said hi. She was busy preparing an order. I saw her fill a container with soup. You can dine in. However, tables and seating are limited. Once she was finished with that order, she focused solely on me. My usual subs are the black angus steak and mesquite chicken. I deviated from both when I saw the beef and swiss melt. I got a foot-long on rosemary parmesan bread. She asked me whether I was good with mushrooms. Yes, said the mushroom freak. Oh, how I have missed being at a Quiznos. I like seeing my sandwich go through the toasting conveyor and come out looking all yummy. I paid with a credit card. This place only accepts credit and debit cards. She wrapped up my sub and handed it over in a bag. I thanked her and left happy with sub in hand. My car smelled so good as I drove home. The only reason I didn't devour my sub was because it was in the backseat and I couldn't reach it while driving. It's a good strategy if you don't have any willpower. I had my sub when I got home. I devoured the whole thing. I normally do an 8" sub, but I was hungry. I'm so glad I went big. The sub looked narrower than I recall. Then again, I have had Jersey Mike's Subs these days that they look gigantic compared to any sub out there. I loved the beef and swiss melt. The beef was tender, juicy, and yummy. The swiss cheese was the perfect amount and was melty delicious. The mushrooms were yummy although this mushroom fanatic would have enjoyed more of them. The bread was excellent toasted. Yum all around! I'm so glad that I found this Quiznos. I was the only customer in the store and I suspect that it does quiet business with all restaurants around it. It's a vertical crinkle cut so the ridges are vertical to give it more crispiness. The sauce is great with the French fries! Price: Definitely on the more expensive side of things when it comes to subs but quality and taste are really high. Even though the location at the Promenade Mall exceeds this horrible location by 100 times. I came here to this location in York Mills Rd expecting a decent sub and some decent service. That's not expecting much But On this occasion, I entered and the one Indian lady about 20 something years old immediately put me off. She took my order rather curtly and asked my name forcefully. I mean I am the only customer in there. I waited my 4-5 minutes paying no mind. Then She proceeded to just plop my sandwich on the counter and literally screamed my name and then walked to the back. I'm sorry but this order is for take out I said can I have a bag. She saids she doesn't have big bags with handles. This is not my first rodeo here and she plops a small sandwich bag on the counter with absolutely no customer service like bagging it for me and then walks off again. That's when I see a uber order with a said bag with handle sitting there I mean, I like their sandwiches but service and a remotely polite service is important too. I definitely strongly recommend to stay away from this location. And I am debating on going to any location again as this represents not only their name and location but the franchise reputation as a whole.

You are probably asking, "But, Mary. You have food photos from Subway. You don't do delivery. How is that possible?" Two words: my dad. I am far from being a Subway regular. I am more a fan of Mr Sub, Quiznos, and Jersey Mike's. Yesterday, my dad was at Subway to grab lunch for himself and my mom, and decided to get me some food, too. He dropped it off at my door. So, technically, he was my surprise delivery person with a surprise lunch. I had to frankly guess what he got me. I am guessing that it was steak and cheese. The steak was chopped up, so it wouldn't have been roast beef that would likely be slices. Then again, I hadn't been to Subway for over a decade, so things could have changed. I also tasted mozzarella cheese. I felt like I was doing a blind tasting. I am happy to report that I didn't get olives in my sub. My dad used to ask for olives and they are not my thing. I used to pick them out, but I got so sick of seeing so many of them that I'd simply say no to the whole thing. The sub was good. It was on multi-grain bread. Since I ate it practically immediately after he brought it to me, it was yummy and was still warm. The veggies (onions, lettuce, and tomatoes) were fresh and yummy. I wish that there were more of them to supply more of a crunch, such as green peppers and cucumbers. My dad isn't a veggie lover and it was reflected in my sandwich. I really can't complain. I couldn't figure out if it was drenched in dressing or if the lettuce had been washed and not spun /or dried off properly, literally threw it out because it lacked crunch and was dripping to the point it was soggy. The Greek fries had great flavour and a generous amount of feta however, those were wet as well. I'm aware Fries can be hit or miss with delivery however, even after trying to warm them up they were still wet. The gyro wrap was great, no complaints.
