The pumpkin walk led us along a small path through a wooded area just behind the parking lot, where over 250 pumpkins were painted/decorated in a variety of themes and displayed for us to enjoy on our meandering walk. We were allowed to take photos and others coming through patiently gave us the space to do so. The staff we briefly interacted with were friendly and so excited to see us all decked out in costumes for this Halloween-inspired walk. They decorated the plants, trees and gourds around the nursery, making for a fun experience all around.

My five-year-old Leo B. loves a good gem, and has already asked us to buy him a ruby multiple times (we've consistently, emphatically declined, but I hope he doesn't think he'll be getting one for Christmas). We both enjoyed browsing this store. There were a lot of loose stones and crystals throughout the shop, and these were fun to look at, especially with a child who was fully agog that a gem could be shaped like a heart or a star. I remember being fascinated by colorful stones at his age, and watching him in Hidden Gem took me back to that feeling of innocent wonder. Still, I have no problem saying no to my son, and rejected his requests for a $32 paperweight and other various items too expensive for a five-year-old. Lucky for him, we weren't alone in the store. My mother was there with us, and when Leo requested a $4 green goldstone, I said only a sucker would buy a $4 gem for a small child, then let Halmoni take over. She declared herself a willing sucker and bought him the sparkly green stone, which a kindly sales clerk wrapped for him in paper. I told Leo he was in charge of keeping track of his new gem, and two weeks later, I'm not totally confident he knows where it is. He does love it, though, and I admit it is more attractive than the rocks he just made us bring home from the beach. All in all, I'm glad he got this little gift from Hidden Gem. $4 of Halmoni's money bought him a good deal of happiness.

I was at the store recently, and an employee who is a retired mechanical engineer rethreaded a hole in a vintage metal bookend for me (using a single screw that I purchased at the store) so that it will hold together tightly now! I was (and am) so impressed with his skill and the store's willingness to let him make the repair for me on the spot! I was charged only $5 for this service. Thank you so much, Ace Hardware!

They do not accept coupons that ACE uses on their app or mailing. It means nothing to them. 2. They do not honor military service like other ACE stores. Not on Veterans or Memorial Day. Not ever. Which is crazy because this is WA with active bases all over this state. 3. Got a Weber grill and propane tank. The tank leaked and the gauge didn't work. Brought back the next day, and they tried to blame the tank fill on Bay Hay & Feed. Said the gauge never really works on them accurately... blah blah. Did not want to exchange the tank. Basically had to hold my ground as a customer with a receipt less than 24 hours after initial sale. They were very unprofessional about it but eventually exchanged. The tank was leaking so bad in the car ride over mind you, all windows had to be opened and we left the tank outside the store doors when conducting the exchange. The manager wanted to actually inspect and attempt to fix the tank and give it back to us. WTAF? Seriously? What happened to honoring the customer who has chosen to spend money in your store? 4. After all this went back a couple months later to buy a small part. Needed to use the restroom. The sign for bathrooms is clearly marked. The door was blocked by piled up boxes with a sign saying...Not working/available indefinitely... the door directly across which is obviously a bathroom as well, is marked Employees Only. When I asked to use restroom, I was told to go across street at Walgreens or the McDonalds. Ummmm ..... here is the deal.... I'm not spending money in those stores. I chose yours for business. Seriously? On Bainbridge Island of all places, is using the restroom that big of a deal? Do not spend your money here no matter how convenient you may think the location is. Take the 20 min drive to Poulsbo or Silverdale.

There were some interesting (in a good way!) wooden art "mobiles" suspended from the ceiling, and some nice area rugs as well. But what caught my eye the most was the most GORGEOUS jewelry, hand-made, by a local artist, for a line called "Ginger". I tried on some amazing bracelets that I now regret not getting. Very unique, made from gem-stone beads and polished gems and vintage crystals. The necklaces were also knock-out pieces. Just combinations of gems (polished and not) and crystals, with unique clasps, that I've never seen before. They also had some fabulous totes (I loved the one with Michelle Obama!), and soaps and small house items. The guy at the counter was very nice and knowlegeable about the products. I liked how folks with their dogs were welcome in the store. Even large dogs! What a wonderful store!

Inside, they have a beautiful Northwest gift shop (where I love almost everything), a delicious gourmet food shop, and an outdoor clothier (in addition to the feed and practical goods of course). We have bought things from all sections and they have been beloved and great quality. We wear their shirts regularly. They have a charming gardening shop as well across the nursery that I'm sure I would love if I was an actual gardener. I bought my husband a concrete cat there once. Lastly, we always start with an Americano or an Italian soda at Carly's. The whole experience is always relaxing and a weekend treat.
