Headed out on the Icon tomorrow and needed some dinner. The Better Taco was worth the 6 hour drive today! The food was outstanding! While the menu looks a bit limited, it has infinite possibilities and combos. I had the taco platter with carne asada. Each item that I chose for the platter was fresh and delicious. The frijoles rojo were the tastiest I have ever had, the plantains were, too. The platter was filled to almost overflowing. The accompanying tortillas (4 street taco size) tasted freshly made. I chose the chipotle sauce to add to my tacos. It was the right combination of smoke and heat. Delish! My husband had a carne asada burrito which once he added all of the toppings, was huge! He said it was excellent. This place is quite close to the airport so even if you have a short layover in Miami, it is worth your time to ditch the subpar airport food and indulge in some taco tastiness! read more

I found out about this restaurant using Too Good To Go app. I reserved two evening surprise bags and didn't know what to expect. When we got to the restaurant and showed the employee my order info, she grabbed a to-go container, and put white rice, black beans, corn, chicken, lettuce, tomatoes. Establishment is location in a plaza with plenty of parking. Went for dinner around 7 on a Friday and the place was pretty much empty. The decor was really nice but the tables were dirty for previous customers. I had to clean my table off. There a machine on the wall to order food but the servers behind the counter took my order. Unfortunately, servers were unable to explain certain things due to language barrier. Next time I'll read the menu beforehand because I also felt rushed to complete my order. The food was okay, not special about it. I didn't like the lack of sauce selection for the rice bowl I ordered. The sweet plantains had a weird taste, that I couldn't describe. Really, really yummy tacos! Not the street tacos you're expecting - they are grilled with cheese and meat inside! Very indulgent. The topping bar is so fresh as well - cilantro, pico, jalepenos, etc! Their menu was a little hard to understand, but I really don't think you could go wrong! A "basket" is a taco salad, the "taco platter" is essentially a bowl, and it's a LOT of food! The quac was excellent and the queso was unlike any other queso I had before! The queso does come cold, so make sure you have a way to heat it up. Also, no cutlery provided so a little food went to waste unfortunately without it as not everything fit right in the tacos. That would be nice if they provided some cutlery and napkins. I did like that when you dine in there, they provide customers actual dishware that can be reused by the restaurant, unlike Chipotle. The service was okay. Ordered this via uber eats so my review is just on the food and I guess their go to container. I got birria tacos, chips with guac, chili chamoy Mexican gummies and orchata to drink. The tacos are A+. They come with like an aoli sauce or something. They delicously messy and it was difficult not to eat all three through my full pains. Chips and guac were well chips and guac. I feel there's no going wrong there except maybe the guac but the guac was good and kept well in the fridge when I put the container top back for several hours. Usually guac gets yucky by then but this kept well on my fridge with their to go container. The orchata was actually delicious. I say this cause usually I don't really like orchata but I always feel like it should be something I like so I keep ordering it whenever places have it and this is the first place I've actually liked and finished. This alone gives them the 5 stars. Lastly I had the gummies. It's the type of gummies I usually don't like but I guess with the chamoy it makes it goood. This is the perfect kind of desert for me since I usually don't like desert but I love candy. Overall great food and super filling. I basically ate only this meal throughout the day and still had candy left over by the end. Next time I want to check out the restaurant but food alone I recommend! Update: Went in person. Updated some photos for the view of the place. 1) place is cute with some mild decorations. The way the front looks is like cafeteria style (or if you prefer an example kind of like Chipotle). 2) a women helped me and a friend. She was super nice and patient. Even checking if we were going to pay together or separate after she took my friends order so she can charge ahead and then make my food. 3) I tried this time 3 regular street corn tacos, steak. I put both the Cilantro and jalapeno sauce. Delicious! Also of course I couldn't come here without my orchata drink. This place will be my new go to for orchata. Note: my friend didn't like it, he said it was too creamy but maybe this is why I like it ? I also tried the orchata paleta and omg was it good. Apparently it's a seasonal thing so try and grab one this week! Otherwise they'll probably have another flavor available. I saw they had starberry and some others that are probably permanent. The better taco??? That's a lie. Food was terrible. Tried the Al Pastor Burrito and the meat is so far from what Al pastor should be and the rice in the burrito was hard and crunchy. Extremely disappointing after reading the good reviews... afraid to trust good reviews after this. And on top of the food being disappointing the service was even worse. Luckily there's an iPad to order from on the wall because the staff just straight out ignored us and another customer that was trying to pick up an order. I've been here more than a couple of times and I have to say I like! Me gusta! (I'm holding off the fifth star because it been only takeout and I haven't been able to try their desserts and or boozy stuff). This is the kind of place I call "paint by the numbers". You get a bowl, burrito or no carb. I enjoyed brown rice, black beans (they're cool and will give you an extra helping), fresh tomato, pico and cilantro. An advantage they have over their national competitors whose name begins with a C is that their toppings and sauces show us with a significant sweet tooth some love. If you're searching for good Mexican, search elsewhere. I have to be honest, the only thing I LOVED here was my Corona (not even offered a lime). The food was blah. It lacked flavor and where they tried to add "flavor," it fell flat. I ordered tacos de birria with pico de gallo on the side and a side of elote. My husband ordered a burrito with birria and a side of chips and queso. The tacos were low on seasoning and didn't even have a hint of spice (I thought this was a Mexican place? Not even a bottle of hot sauce in sight) and the pico de gallo lacked lime. The elote was even more disappointing... I don't even know if you can call it an elote. It had shredded cheese, not even a hint of lime, very little queso fresco, no tajin, and some pineapple puree drizzled on top... I took two bites and said absolutely not (heart shattered because I LOVE elote). I took a bite of my husbands burrito which was okay... (he got to build it himself so that's the only thing I can say was okay). He wasn't too thrilled about it. The chips and queso are literally Tostitos with Tostitos jar queso. Overall we paid $70 for 4 items and 2 beers, which is the most gut wrenching thing of all. I would've been happier with Chipotle or Lime for that price. As MS locals, I'm sad to say we won't be returning. Maybe if they completely changed their menu, I'd consider trying again, but right now it's just not worth it. read more

The quesadilla was nothing too special but the chipotle sauce that came with it was delicious (with a kick)! Guac was good too. Ordered The Better Taco on UberEats the other night and was very satisfied! I ordered a chicken royo, I believe they call it, but its the same as a burrito! All of the ingredients were very fresh and I like that they have unique fillings such as maduritos to go inside the royo. The royo is also very large. I think two people can eat this unless you are very hungry! I literally made it into two meals! Another thing I enjoyed was their sauces. I cant remember the names of the ones I tried, but one was spicy and I think the other one was called cremosa. I love sauces and this definitely made the meal that much more special.
