The girl who helped me at the register was very kind and bagged the majority of my items, but a couple of smaller items were left outside of the bag. I was in a rush and completely forgot to grab them before I left, even though I had already paid for everything. I realized it later and called the store to explain what happened. They were kind enough to put my name on a bag and hold the items for me, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, when I came back later that week to pick them up, the items couldn't be found. It seemed like there was some miscommunication between the staff, which was really disappointing because I had specifically called ahead and was told they would be held for me. I completely understand that things can get misplaced, especially in a busy store, but it was frustrating knowing that I had already paid for the items and had made a trip back specifically to retrieve them. I also didn't have my receipt anymore because I had assumed everything had been placed in my bag, which I realize was ultimately my mistake. It's definitely something I won't let happen again. What was disappointing was that, even though the staff remembered me coming in previously, the items ultimately weren't replaced or resolved. I understand that mistakes happen, but I think this could have been handled a little better. Even with these issues, I still genuinely love Seaside Market and want to see it continue to do well. I know that growing crowds and increased popularity can create challenges, but I do think there are opportunities to improve the overall customer experience, especially when it comes to parking, managing the crowds, and communication between team members. The prices have definitely been climbing, and with the store becoming busier, it's getting a little harder to visit than it used to be. Still, there's a reason I've been coming here for years, and I'll continue to support the market. I just hope they're able to find ways to make the experience a little easier as the business continues to grow.

They swapped my order with a younger vintage and failed to mention it. No email. No, "We substituted this because we're out of stock--is that okay?" They quietly swapped it, hoping I wouldn't notice or wouldn't care. But I was buying a Rioja, not a Walmart box wine. I discovered the switch, had to leave my car, grab a shopping cart, go back inside, and find someone to help. That's when the tap dance began. The first employee pretended that vintages didn't matter. He called in the self-proclaimed expert, who introduced himself with, "I'm the wine guy. What's the problem?" As it turns out, the problem was standing right in front of me. Rather than acknowledge that substituting a vintage without informing the customer might be an issue, he spent several minutes explaining why it shouldn't matter. Eventually he landed on, "It's just a $30 bottle of wine." Actually, it was a case. Twelve bottles--$360 of wine. He asserted the two wines were equally rated when they were not. A review from home revealed the younger substitute averaged a full point lower rating (WA, WS, JD, WE, TA). As I explained that vintage and ratings represent value, he interrupted. When I politely asked not to be interrupted, he rolled his eyes, looked away, and said it was time to find a manager. Manager David was as helpful as helpful as a light bulb without electricity. He asked what the problem was. I went through the list, concluding that if he wanted to sell a younger wine with a questionable rating he should have said so and provided some kind of discount. He seemed remarkably uninterested in discussing wine ratings, vintages and economics, so I asked for a refund. That took another ten minutes on top of the twenty I had already wasted. As I left, he offered a casual, "Sorry about that," delivered with all the sincerity of an automated voicemail. Total Wine in Encinitas may be convenient, but their service, honesty and wine knowledge is not. I prefer Vintage Wines out on Miramar Rd for superior wine knowledge, service and honesty.

I was encouraged that the new buyers remodeled and offered more. But prices went up and friendliness was non existent. No hello, no smile, no nothing. Making it very clear they don't want to be there or even spend two minutes checking you out on their overpriced goods. I'm a block away, and after two years, I'm done. I won't spend another dime there. I'll drive two blocks east to see a fellow human being who smiles and is welcoming. This life is tough for us all, I finally asked "Do you not like working here?" And he went off on me, taken aback by the question...then said "I've been here all day" ...i responded with I spent all day working too and I still managed to show kindness to others, especially customers" he obviously didn't like that but I don't care. I'm done. We can choose where to spend our hard earned money and I won't spend another cent there. I hope their hatred of the job encourages them to sell and the next owners are good people. I'll go back then.

So, I've past this place a few times while being in Encinitas and decided to try it out the other night. Came here around 9pm on a Saturday night...lively and cute place. the set up is what actually drew me into coming here(lit up tree inside the restaurant) Being a frequent yelper I looked at their food before and was excited to try the lobster blt or the crab sandwich.... sadly neither one were on the menu when we got there... oh well. We started off with a couple drinks, I got a lavender mule and my boyfriend got an IPA. The lavender mule was good but probably wouldn't get it again. Actually ended up drinking most of my bf beer so...that's that. Food order appetizer- calamari...this was really good....it had an Asian twist to it and was lightly fried.. yum! Pistachio Crusted Salmon Burger-this sounds weird but when our waitress suggested it, it sparked my curiosity, so I decided to get it... We thought this was really good. The salmon in the burger was perfectly crusted and had a lot of flavor...if I were to come back and they still didn't have my lobster blt or crab sandwich I would most likely get this again. Fish n Chips- this was also recommended by our waitress... it was a good amount of food and tasted like...fish n chips ...tasty, but nothing memorable overall. This place is unstoppable in Encinitas. Probably the busiest place nowadays in North County. Great vibe and fresh fruit and fresh juice cocktails. Try a Copper Mug Mule or Bloody Mary. Old Fashioned was great too, but I like the one big rock better than lots of ice. They do offer the best Luxardo cherries though. Huge plus! Sometimes when it is busy, the bartenders do not seem happy, which is weird, but they have some talented staff that make up for some others. I've also had brunch there which was great too. Last week I tried the Grilled Cheese and Tomato soup which also came with delicious fries. The short rib nachos are ridiculous but not a super large portion. I tried the field greens salad, which was a great way to start my dinner. Definitely recommend to try it out. Best nights are every night but Thurs-Sun goes off. The shut down the outside window at midnight or earlier since their are residents nearby who complain and/or they need to comply to the noise ordinance laws. I met the owner before at PCG and he used to own the 710 Beach Club. Glad he sold that and opened up a new place up here. It is killing it! read more

I highly recommend stopping here when in the Carlsbad/Encinitas/Del Mar area, above San Diego. Encinitas itself can be easily missed while driving on interstate 5, to or from San Diego. It is centrally located in the Encinitas Beach town area, near the train station, walking distance to the ocean. The staff is courteous and helpful. There's plenty of outdoor dining with heaters. Indoors, you have several mounted televisions showing the latest sporting events and music videos. You get great service from the bartenders and food staff. Food is good. Try the onion rings which are monster sized. The customer crowd is mixed, from nearby UCSD coeds, locals to visiting tourists passing through. Good for people watching. Meeting new friends, and of course, babe watching. The town itself has good character, unlike nearby Carlsbad, which reminds me of a crowded, new, and sterile Orange County. You can get hooked to Bier Garden like me. Check it out and have fun ! read more

We had a reservation for a table called in 2 days prior. When we arrived our name was not on the list, and later the hostess said that "they found the note on the floor in the office.." for it, and they will do what they can to seat us. 55 minutes later we got a table, after they seated several other parties before us. When we expressed our frustration to the waiter, he said let me talk to the owner he is actually sitting right behind you. And he did.... and then nothing happened. Making a mistake is fine, but when the owner gets notified and he does not even say sorry about that, is just plane lame. The place would be fine, but the owner does not care to take good care of you obviously. Which will come back to hunt him eventually. Great location and the hype for craft beer will help this place, but they will have to start some customer service sooner better then later to stick around. read more

Nice vibe with amazing lighting and ambiance, all together, it's charming! Fried fish taco was better in my opinion. The Brussel sprouts and pretzel bites were flavorful. The fish n chips is lighter than it looks. Everything was fresh and the flavor blend of both the Brussel sprouts and the fish combination were super. Great atmosphere. Lots of energy. The staff is exceptionally attentive and nice. We had the short-rib nachos. They were good; not as great as some reviews made them out to be. It was a fun place. You can also walk 10 feet to Whole Foods when you're done. Not a 5 star place - but definitely 4 stars. I would come back. Has a beer called the Belching Beaver "Viva la Beaver" craft beer - amazing. Can't beat the spot, this place has taken over the space of former iconic Encinitas restaurant George's. The ambiance is great with a nice ocean breeze going in and out of the open windows. I had a couple margaritas that were delicious, albeit pricey, especially for happy hour. My sweety had a couple beers. He LOVED them. He also had the fish and chips. I had a salad. This place is always busy so I guess they don't care if their service stinks. Good luck getting a bartender's attention. They are too busy talking to each other. If you are lucky to get their attention they act like they are going you a favor to pour you a drink. Drinks are poorly crafted and overpriced. Food is mediocre at best. My wife and I enjoyed food and beers here two nights in a row. On the third night the restaurant manager took our beers after he served us because he thought our IDs were not authentic. What kind of sick f@#% would take someone's beer after they've started drinking it? Get comfortable with out of state IDs if you want to keep business. This my friends, is triple cream so it's fantastic. -The fries are also fantastic and the chocolate chip cookies are fire. I'm not even a sweets person but I inhaled it when I tried it. It was delish. -Italian chopped salad- so good and really light but somehow filling at the same time. In the best way possible. I get it all the time. They have a huge wine selection both at the bar and in their fridge section which you can browse while you're in line. They have a wine club as well! I always love a more local mom n pop type place in general vs chains and this place is just a vibe no matter what time of day you go. The word is definitely out though so it can get busy so cozy up at the bar for a cold one while you wait if you run thirsty like me, ha! Or they have plenty of outdoor seating if you want a ni ce breeze. The owner is rad, the entire staff is sweet, accommodating and overall they just absolutely nailed it here. We didn't understand why if we had a reservation. A lovely elderly woman also tried to enter, as she was confused as well. So, she tried to enter with us as we had to go to the back door & wave someone to get their attention. They let us in, but told us they closed due to slow traffic ... Again, that doesn't make sense & they didn't think to check the reservation list? Luckily, the elder was doing all the talking & they seemed irritated that they had to seat us, when it isn't our fault they closed early with a reservation. We got the aguachile + pork dishes. Food came out, it was good, but service ruined it honestly. The white blonde bartender also was rudist one out of all of them ... She didn't want to serve us drinks even though my partner turned 21, I had my ID, & the elderly woman wanted to pay for us. She also got offended that we asked for a birthday dessert, but they don't do any complimentary dessert. She said it was a 'ridiculous' request. Even though they closed the restaurant on us & it was my partner's birthday ... Overall, I wouldn't come back here. If these are the people who represent the chef ... especially the bartender ... I have no words for this restaurant. Since everything was closed, no live music, no other customers, no real way to feel the environment. Never coming back !
