I was surprised to see that there wasn't a long wait on a Sunday morning for our visit here. This definitely worked out to our advantage because we were starving! Either way, our party of 7 patiently waited for about 10 minutes before being sat, but it was a really tight fit for 7 people and a baby to be sat on one of their booths. Luckily, our party actually enjoys one another and doesn't mind being in each other's space however, there was a lot of bumping into each other with each bite. I made sure to order a biscuit with my meal because it's almost a requirement to do so when the place is named "The Big Biscuit". It was pretty good and I really enjoyed the Veggie Scram-bowl even though vegetarians everywhere would curse me if they knew I added bacon to it, but it really brought the dish together...at least for me it did. The service itself was a little slow but none of us were really in a hurry and are really laid back. I don't think we saw our nice waitress until 20 minutes after our food arrived and she wasn't even the one to deliver it. Anyway, not a big deal and we still enjoyed our experience. read more

I rarely give any establishment 5 stars, after all, no one is perfect. However, I feel my experience with the Big Biscuit in Lawrence, merits all 5! Star #1 is for the food, of course! Their Sticky Biscuits are Heavensent! Star #2 is for their service - they are quick to the table with a smile, your food, and anything else you need or want. #3 is for the cleanliness and roominess of the restaurant, it is definitely not a fast food environment! I love that! Star #4 is for the menu - varied selection, something for every appetite! Finally, but not least, the 5th star is for the staff. A manager took my order for those amazing Sticky Biscuits, popped them in the oven for me even though it was fairly close to closing time and kept the doors open so that I could come back and pick the Biscuits up! Had the quarter biscuit/gravy and hash browns. The portion was just fine for me. The biscuit tasted like one you'd make with bisquick. Dry and for the record, it's an average size biscuit. Hash browns were crisp on the outside and soggy inside. Gravy was fine. Eh sums it up. read more

Always good food and good service for the amount of people that walk through the doors on a daily basis - this place is great for weekend breakfast's and when you have company in town. Obviously - being a popular place, there is always a wait, but they move pretty quickly and you are seated within about 15 minutes of arrival. We haven't had a bad thing on the menu - it's all good. Just in town for work and a lot of coworkers recommended this place. My waitress was training a new guy and neither of them seemed like they wanted to be here. There were many issues with my food. First of all the menu isn't really customizable. You're pretty much stuck with the combos that they give you. They use several terms that they do not explain so I had to ask what they meant. They only have gravy with sausage, no option for just gravy without sausage. With my combination, it Was suppose to have 2 pieces of bacon , I received ONE old piece of bacon that was broken into two and an old piece of sausage? That wasn't suppose to come with my order. The combination also included 2 waffles. I only received one. The "large" glass of orange juice (almost $5) was smaller than my free water. There was also a busser who just sort of stood there watching, waiting for tables to clear. Did I mention It was also a $20 breakfast- JUST FOR ME. It is true, they do have big biscuits but I wouldn't come back for a second meal. read more

The service is always fast and friendly, and the food has always been great. The portions are rather large, and the prices are really reasonable. Had the hot beef sandwich. When that plate came out, my jaw hit the table. I've cooked roasts that were smaller than that. It was good, and it was big. Definitely got my moneys worth. Down home goodness mixed with great service. This location has some great and experienced staff that outshines the younger, less patient employees, even though they are nice, just less experienced or attentive. The service here is almost always good overall, just hope you get one of the more "seasoned" servers. Food is good, not greasy at all. I suggest trying any of the 3 egg omelets, I've had them all and each are spectacular in their own way. I like seeing Louisiana hot sauce on every table and the atmosphere/layout of the restaurant is inviting and simple. My boyfriend and I went to this location today around 11 am. We asked for a table of two and waited for 45 minutes. After noticing people walking in and receiving a table for two before us, I approached the host and as I was in the middle of asking why were ppl given tables before my boyfriend and I [because we were there before them] he cut me off and asked what was my name, and then said he called our name. My boyfriend and I sat inside the entire time and watched them call everyone's name, the host/ess even went outside to call ppls name (because it was some parties standing outside) but he NEVER called my name. We were then seated in the back corner and then we left. This location is really prejudice towards black people honestly. Every black couple I've seen, they were seated near the back corners. The independence location is 100% BETTER!! Went there with no problem and was seated and served phenomenally. read more

I would not recommend this restaurant due to finding a hair in my food and the manager acted like I put it there myself to keep from paying for it. The waitress was very non-caring also. The man sitting behind my husband and I had to send his eggs back because they were burnt. Most of the food they put out is frozen or not cooked properly. It's horrible. read more

we first went there 3 months ago and I thought this place should be a model for other places.The manager came around to ask how we liked it well 3 months later we went in with my family for lunch my boy pulled an 8 inch hair out of his omlet and my wifes chicken sandwich was still raw in the middle we complained to the server and she did take those off our check and apologized what bothered me was the scowel the young manager gave us from the back he never came over to see what he could do to make things right nothing. That would have been enough but he just stood there I wrote them an email and not even a response so I am done with that place what a shame they had it going on all they had to do was respond it wasn't the servers place to make it right it was the manager if that kid worked for me he would be looking for a job read more

The hostess was super nice and the servers that delivered the food where great, but our waitress thought it was ok to check on us only once and would roll her eyes when we asked for simple things like straws or syrup even. I love the Big Biscuit. Great hot fresh breakfast food. Our favorite breakfast place in town. They have a gigantic menu and the seating and service is always quick and friendly. Its our favorite place for breakfast on weekends. There is always a small line out the door, but we never wait more than a few minutes. I'd recommend the pimpkin pancakes in the fall. My husband and I have been to the new Shawnee location several times and have been impressed every time. We had been to the other two locations before and were excited that they were opening a Big Biscuit close to our neighborhood. We've both had breakfast and lunch and haven't been disappointed with either. The biscuits are huge and delicious! The bacon is some of the best I've ever had. The omelets are cooked perfectly and thoroughly (I hate runny omelets). Our 11-year old daughter loves the Red, White and Blue waffle with strawberries, bananas, whipped cream and blueberries. She says it's "the best waffle ever"! For lunch, you can't go wrong with the chicken fried steak or hot beef sandwich. The Wisconsin Cheddar soup is also something I'll definitely being going back for. The atmosphere is open, clean and very friendly. My husband and I are thinking The Big Biscuit could be "our new place"! Great job guys! read more
