Excited to be one of the first to review, and share my experience at The Big Fish in KCK! My friend LB put up a post about this new spot, and I was all in to show my support. I'm all about backing Black-owned restaurants, and I was super excited to give this place a shot. Now, I'd heard the buzz about how good the food was, but also to expect a bit of a wait. And let me tell you, they weren't kidding. When we went, the wait time for a table could stretch up to 90 minutes! Crazy, right? But honestly, it's kind of a good sign - shows how popular The Big Fish is already. The place itself is newly renovated and looks great, with options for dining in or carrying out. When we were there, it seemed like more people were waiting for takeout than actually dining in, which gave it a bit of a crowded vibe. But let me tell you about the staff - they were awesome. Super friendly from the moment we walked in, and they made sure our experience was top-notch. They are genuine and you could really feel their pride in what they're doing. Now, let's talk about the food. They've got a bunch of different types of fish on the menu - Swai/Basa, Catfish, Tilapia, Whiting, and Orange Roughy, plus some killer shrimp. And oh my, those shrimp were to die for! We ordered a variety of dishes, and while it did take about 45 minutes to get our food, it was totally worth it. Everything was well-seasoned and piping hot. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were fair, although I thought the desserts were a bit pricey for the size. Overall, I'll definitely be coming back to support The Big Fish. If they can work out the timing and streamline the takeout process, they're gonna be the go-to spot for seafood in KCK. Food is great, service was good and the ambiance is straight forward and simple. The portion size is really good and I guarantee that you won't walk away hungry. Everything is made from scratch in house using the freshest products available. We tried this after a friend of ours recommended it to us and I'm truly glad that we went there for lunch and happily will continue to go there going forward whenever we have the urge for some really good seafood. read more

The Burnt Ends were SOOOO tender, and the flavor of the meat really shined, especially for a restaurant that specializes in seafood. Mac and Cheese is always good! But the garlic butter shrimp......I could eat that all day. The cheesesticks were delicious and the lemon cake dessert! We've also had the BOSS item on the menu, perfect fried shrimp, perfect air fried real potato fries, lemon pepper shrimp, corn on the cob, and we love them all, no complaints! Have patience, give Grace. The young people are very nice, quiet and kind. We've met at least 3 of the family who work in the front. They are really sweet and trying to do their best for you. I'm so glad to see them there!! These are the kind of businesses that I like to support and I think others should, too. Are you getting the best seafood in the city, the metro, and for hundreds of miles any direction? YES, you are. Are some young people working their family's hard fought business instead of doing what most people assume young people are doing?? YES. Owners that LOVE what they do....making people happy with their food, while doing what they love? YES! Those are the things that matter, and this restaurant deserves to be famous for the seafood, based on taste alone. And the young people will grow up, and they'll be better for having worked in the family business. Let's SUPPORT ownership, family employees and think beyond our tiny box.
