Unfortunately, my first visit to The Suburban will also be my last. On Thursday at 4 p.m., a group of my classmates and I went to The Suburban for what was going to be our final time together as a group. One of our classmates had been there before and recommended the restaurant based on the food, so we were looking forward to spending our last evening together there. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. We arrived around 4 p.m., but most of us did not receive our food until approximately 5 p.m. Even worse, three people in our party did not receive their meals until around 5:30-5:45 p.m. By that point, they simply had their food packaged to go. The service throughout our visit was lacking. Our servers rarely checked on the table, offered beverage refills, or provided any explanation for the significant delays coming from the kitchen. A little communication and attentiveness would have gone a long way. I initially planned to order a main course but couldn't decide what I wanted, so I kept the menu and ordered appetizers while I decided. Unfortunately, our server never returned to ask whether I was ready to order my entrée. Given how long everything else was taking, I eventually took that as a sign that I didn't need to order anything further. What was most disappointing was the apparent lack of management. I don't know what was happening in the kitchen or who was responsible for overseeing the dining room, but neither appeared to be effectively managed during our visit. No one came by to acknowledge the delays, explain what was happening, or check on our group. To make matters worse, the dining room was extremely warm and the air conditioning seemed to be barely working. Even members of the waitstaff serving other tables could be seen fanning themselves across the room. I understand that restaurants can have bad days, staffing issues, or unexpected problems in the kitchen. However, when delays are this significant, communication and attentive service become even more important. This was supposed to be an enjoyable final gathering with my classmates. Unfortunately, the combination of extremely slow food service, lack of communication, inattentive service, and an uncomfortable dining room made the experience memorable for all the wrong reasons. Nice welcoming vibe as you enter. Tastefully decorated. We were greeted as we entered and seated immediately. Our server was prompt and reviewed the daily special with us. They have plenty of inside seating and a lovely deck for nicer weather. I did notice that the more the dinning area filled the louder it got. My hubs ordered the special and the $2 margarita. I got the herb chicken bacon pasta. The margarita was terrible! It tasted very watered down and lacking alcohol. He did not even finish it! The daily special sandwich was a beef brisket with slaw, jalapeños and Gouda cheese. He said it was very good however he could not taste the Gouda at all. The sandwich came with salt and pepper fries that are definitely a show stealer! They were a wide thin cut and seasoned perfectly. My pasta had a generous serving of herb chicken on top of Bucatini pasta in a creamy garlic sauce with spinach, bacon and cherry tomatoes. It was flavorful without being over garlicky. Dined at The Suburban for the first time today, but it won't be our last. We had excellent service from our server, Chin. The food was delicious. I had the crab cake appetizer and the spinach side salad. My husband had the shrimp and grits. Everything was wonderful. I never expected to find such an amazing restaurant in Leavenworth, but The Suburban is truly a hidden gem. Well maybe not THAT hidden but at least to people that don't reside in Leavenworth. The patio is absolutely charming--lush, cozy, and it feels more like hanging out in a friend's backyard than dining at a restaurant. The food is consistently outstanding; everything I've tried has been delicious, but the salmon is my personal favorite. Have been wanting to try this place since we moved here five years ago but hadn't gotten it done until last week. It was $20 steak night, which got you two 4 oz. filets and your choice of baked potato, mashed potato or fries. Please note the fries portion is bigger than my pic shows; we were so hungry we dug in right away. The steaks were cooked perfectly, super juicy, and very well-flavored. We got the fried mushrooms too, which were decent. Service was great, very friendly and quick. This place is such a mind trick bc it's a house from the outside but a nice restaurant with a great vibe once you step inside. They do charge 3% service fee if you pay with card so we used cash. What an unexpected delight. We were delighted to find this little local spot for dinner! Great outdoor patio that just opened this week! We had 5 for dinner so we sampled plenty! Prime Rib, my favorite, was their special tonight. It was smoked which I had never had before and it was marvelous. Served with 2 sides, I chose green beans with bacon and butter and a side salad which was served with cheese curds on it with homemade ranch. Delicious. Husband had crab cake sandwich which he said was excellent, served with 2 generous crab cakes and their special fries that were sliced wide and thin. Our son-in-law had the fried chicken with a hot honey sauce with mashed potatoes and homemade gravy. Grandson had the southern burger with cheese, he chose not to have the cheese curds that was also served with southern fries. Our waitress was awesome. She was sweet, kind and very attentive. She knew the menu well and guided us with our choices. For the dessert we chose the carrot cake as well as the cherry cheesecake. Best carrot cake we have ever had. It had a cheesecake layer between the carrot cake layers. Husband said the cheesecake was perfect. Not too sweet....we enjoyed our dinner and felt very relaxed. We were in there during the week closer to closing time. The place is like a little hidden gem and somewhat off the beaten path, meaning it's not downtown. It has great outdoor seating as well as indoor. Our service was great and she was super friendly as well as informative about the menu. We ordered the eggs as an appetizer, which they were okay. One of us ordered the Fried Chicken Cobb Salad and the other ordered the Suburban Burger. One thing odd about the salad is the fried piece of chicken comes out lying on top of the salad and it's not cut or diced up. Just found that a little different! I prefer it diced/cut up into the salad. The cheeseburger has cheese curds instead of sliced cheese, again just a little different. Flavor was good on both. For desert we ordered chocolate cake, but no ice cream was available. As we were eating desert the chairs were being put up on the tables. I felt as if we were being closed in on! Our server, Michelle, was friendly. We had the Honey coated Chicken Fried Chicken and The Original Philly Cheesesteak with an upcharge of fried pickles. The honey worked so well with the chicken fried steak, plus the chicken was tender and juicy! The potatoes and green beans that cane with it were cooked well and a good portion size. The Philly cheese steak was good, but I chose to gobble down more of my husband's CFC than my sandwich. The fried pickles were cooked well. They were not overly breaded. The seating area is not too large, but it seemed to accommodate a weekday crowd easily. There was some limited outdoor seating. The food here is unbelievable. They serve the best Ribeye that you are going to find. Our server, Taylor, is a treasure. She brings her rosy to everything she does. I have to say this and I really hate to because this was a five star restaurant for us but today was not great. We went to the brunch at noon and half of the items weren't even available. No eggs, sausage, biscuits, honey chicken, bacon, or fried potatoes. They didn't have the salmon croquettes like they usually do either. They finally brought more eggs out after about 15 minutes and didn't even fill the sausage until we were leaving. I'm sorry but at noon and maybe half of the restaurant full this just isn't great business. We are a family of four and definitely did not get our money 's worth if half the items you provide aren't available to eat. So disappointed and it has steered us away from coming back for a while. We've heard wonderful things about this place - and decided to jump in the car and head north 25 min. Place is cozy and a lot smaller than I was imagining - but very cutely decorated on the inside and looks like they have an amazing patio for the warmer season. This place is truly a hidden gem in Leavenworth! We went late in the afternoon on a Saturday, so before the evening rush. Our waitress was very personable but, most importantly, knowledgeable about the menu and the restaurant itself. My husband got the tacos because he can never pass up short ribs. The Tacos did come with fries (but can be substituted), which was fine as we wanted to try them. The bacon fat fries are AMAZING. My husband enjoyed the Tacos, they just weren't for me. Now, I had the Shrimp and Grits-- fantastic! They come with a fried green tomato which was hand breaded with a little cornmeal for crunch. YUM. This place was a pretty fun find, good atmosphere, quick service and pretty good food. We went on 2 for $20 fillet night and they were very good. Especially for the price. They were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The fries however were strangely tough, lacked flavor and just an overall strange texture. The honey fried chicken was amazing and I would probably get that next time as it was definitely the best dish we had. The mac and cheese with short rib was probably the worst dish we had. The mac was just ok and the meat was a bit on the dry side with not too much flavor. For dessert we had chocolate cake was moist and tasty. I can't recommend The Suburban enough! From the delicious food to the caring servers to the incredible management, this place is worth a detour. There's a fun vibe from the very start, even as you read through the names and descriptions on the menu, but the food somehow finds a way to top that. I highly recommend the honey-coated chicken-fried chicken--it's my go-to order every single time. I've also heard great things from family members specifically about the shrimp and grits, and I don't think I've heard of a single bad menu item. From our most recent visit as a family, I have to leave some praise for our server, Terique. His kindness and dedication to his tabraised the bar and truly gave us a memorable experience. From what I've been told (before eating at the restaurant) was that it was known for it's burgers, so when I ordered the Salmon I was a little skeptical--but they did NOT disappoint. At times I felt underdressed but was glad to see a mixed group of those that were in jeans and T-Shirt and those that are in suits and dresses. Food; I really wanted to like the buttered filet but it was a miss. The chive butted on top of my medium-rare steak was an afterthought and it wasn't really incorporated well. The steak itself was a medium-rare but by the time I cut into it, the steak was at luke-warm at best. The seasoning was also off and it didn't pair well with the butter. The steak was also served with some green beans, which was okay but once the chive butter started getting mixed into it the ingredients were overwhelming. Finally, the salt/pepper fries were actually not bad. Thinly cut and fried, these were a delight. However, because they are so thinly cut and fried... one could tell it was kept in the drier either too long or taken out to early because they became chewy. Like a beef jerky. So that could be good or bad depending on the person. Overall: again, not bad and would recommend this place for those that want a relaxing atmosphere and want to try something savory in town. We had not had a chance to get down to the Suburban, but had been told by many local friends it was worth a visit. They were absolutely correct. We went in the evening and sat outside, and the environment alone was spectacular. Wood burning heaters around you, tables with reclinable chairs, and an area for us to make S'Mores. Going in October, we may have picked one of the best times, as animatronic large figures of wolfmen, ghosts, pumpkin-headed creatures and more roamed the outdoor patio. Entertainment isn't the reason you visit a restaurant, though. The reason you go is because the food is fantastic. At the recommendation of a friend, we tried the Bourbon Pork Chop, and we were blown away. Pork chop would normally not be the top choice for us, we'd go for a steak or a burger, but we believed our friend and hedged our bet; one of us bought the Chop and the other steak. Just in Case. Wow! The Chop was -fantastic- and the steak was equally tender, juicy, and since we had it done our normally way (rare) it was about as perfect as we could want. The contrast between the two really worked; the steak had a very savory taste to the sauce, and the pork chop a very sweet flavoring that stood apart. We had the Deviled Eggs for appetizers, and they were very good. My son had the "Oooey Gooey" - a grilled cheese with very thin fries. He enjoyed both. We were so happy with the main meal, we had to see what was left on the menu! We tried three different deserts so we could all share; Chocolate Cake, Carrot Cake, Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake (seasonal). The Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake had one of the best textures I've had on a cheesecake in quite some time. The Carrot Cake was fantastic, and the chocolate cake was so incredibly rich it felt like it just would melt like a chocolate bar. This is a pretty fantastic place here in Leavenworth to visit for the food and the experience! read more

Started off with Bloody Mary and Mimosas great way to start off brunch! Ordered chicken and waffles, roast beef hash, biscuits and gravy.
