    Oxtails

We tried a little bit of everything, and it was all good, but the oxtails stole the show. I don't usually go for oxtails, but these I'd come back for again and again. We tried both the smoked and braised, and they were fall-off-the-bone tender, super meaty, and packed with flavor. If you must try anything on the menu make it the oxtails.

Talking about oversized goodness! Chicken Po-boy and seasoned fries made to order! Pipin hot, juicy and bursting with flavor .. definitely had a kick to it as well not just to po-boy sauce! Friendly service+

The Pitch Sandwich Week Stop #1 BBQ Honey Sriracha Chicken Sandwich That insane crunch and that addictive sauce, this sandwich was firing on all cylinders. This is the definition of a local "mom and pop" neighborhood restaurant located in the Wyandotte area of KCK. Everything here is made to order so be prepared to be patient but, good food takes time to prepare and each item here was made impeccably- no complaints from me chef! The sandwich special wasn't on the menu but, they knew exactly what I was talking about and whipped one up for me and boy, am I glad they did. It was delicious, delectable and definitely worth the wait. Since we were already out a little ways from where we live we decided it was only right to order something else from the menu and Monday had the written special of a Tackle Box so, we went with that. It has a little sample of everything with expertly fried flaky basa and tender plump shrimps as well as, jumbo crispy wings and a pile of french fries. The only thing missing was some sauce/hot sauce but that was easily remedied at home. 1930 Classic Kitchen knows how to fry their fish, let me tell you that! These filets had a seasoned cornmeal batter, classic fish fry mix feels, that adhered to the thick(ish) pieces of basa without issue. The crispy exterior was the perfect opposite to the soft steamy interior. The wings also were cooked fantastically, with succulent light and dark meat still juicy inside the fried crispy coating. A1 on everything coming out of that magical fryer, I sing its praises. Now onto the star of the show, the whole reason we drove here, that glorious and glistening chicken sandwich covered in finger licking good sensational sauce. The chicken breast itself was bigger than the bun, which is always a good sign when it comes to a sandwich. They knew what they were doing when creating this special sauce because it hit all the taste buds. The sweet notes from the honey melded with the slightly spicy tingly sriracha, it was a match made in flavor heaven. The cajun coleslaw was also the right mix of creamy and seasoned, not your average sad slaw and it was obviously delicious piled on top that sandwich, added a cool (temperature wise) crisp crunch.

Just picked up inline order and liked that they bring it out and show you. The smash burger for $13.99 is probably the best deal in the city. It's a double with everything and it's huge.came with seafood steak fries. And also got the basa fish with same fries. It's a great deal and the portions are big. Was out first visit and I promise you it won't be our last .just like the man behind the counter told me. Excellent food. Well done folks well done

Tucked away in a cute shopping district is Penny's! We had no idea what we were walking in to but I am so happy to have found it! As you walk up you are greated by colorful upside down umbrellas with flowers inside, the water feature and the outside dinning! If it wasn't so hot I would have demanded sitting on the patio! As we were promptly seated in started hearing a "tink tink" sound and looked up. Yall!! The cutest glass hummingbirds were hanging from the ceiling. It was stunning!! Ok, the food!!! I had the crab fried rice which my husband had to help me finish because it was a huge amount! Share if you can but with the understanding you might fight over the last bite. If you still have room after dinner get the butter cake! Ladies, it is worth the calories! The waiter was prompt and had us with drinks in no time! This is an absolute do again if we are ever in the area!

To have this exquisite sanctuary within mere walking distance of our front door feels like discovering a secret coordinate on an old traveler's map. It is a place that exerts an irresistible pull, anchoring itself as the absolute perfect destination for an intimate, romantic date night or a lively, laughter-filled evening meeting up with friends. There is a brilliant, transportive alchemy at work here, transforming a casual stroll through our neighborhood into a deliberate departure from the ordinary, where the modern world gently recedes into the background. The atmosphere is utterly on point, evoking the hauntingly beautiful, slow-burning elegance of a French colonial-era brasserie tucked away in the humid heart of Southeast Asia. There is a distinct, poetic nod to the writing of Joseph Conrad within these walls--a deliberate, masterful play of light and shadow that makes the space feel alive with a quiet, brooding mystery. It feels as though you have stepped off a river steamer and into a candlelit haven of rich textures, whirring fans, and lush greenery, where the air is thick with romance and the intoxicating charm of another era. Whether you are seated inside amidst the intimate, atmospheric glow or outside on the terrace watching the twilight deepen like the slow approach of a great, untamed evening sky, the setting holds you completely spellbound. The culinary journey matches this evocative allure step for step, navigating the menu with the flawless precision of an experienced captain. Having explored nearly every offering they have to craft, I can say with absolute certainty that the kitchen never misses its mark. Each dish arrives as a beautiful revelation, a sharp contrast of vibrant flavors and impeccable execution that satisfies something primal and deep within the palate. Penny's doesn't just serve a meal; they curate an experience that lingers in the memory long after the final plates are cleared. It is a rare, magnificent gem that brings a profound touch of old-world, literary magic right to the heart of Prairie Village, and we find ourselves endlessly drawn back to its extraordinary shores.

For lunch, we ordered the chicken sandwich with the Greek Goddess dressing, the wedge salad, the beet salad, and the miso soup. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. We all enjoyed our meals so much that I brought my family and friends back for dinner just a few days later. The dinner menu is definitely pricier than lunch, but it was absolutely worth it. We ordered the Bistro steak, pork chop, and free-range chicken, and every entrée was cooked perfectly. The flavors were creative, balanced, and absolutely phenomenal. The drinks were also excellent, and the service was attentive and friendly. The ambiance truly completes the experience. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and having a live piano player during dinner adds such a warm, elegant touch. We loved everything about Prima Facie and are already looking forward to bringing more family and friends to enjoy this wonderful restaurant. Highly recommended!

Solid place to grab a cocktail and appetizer!…read more I met a friend here for Happy Hour on a crazy hot Friday afternoon. I had a Cosmo and she had a gin cocktail. We ordered the mussels, fries and tuna tartare. Everything was wonderful but a special shoutout goes to the grilled bread/delicious sauce situation that came with the mussels. Chef's kiss! The fries were crinkle cut and well seasoned and piping hot. The tartare was ice cold and very flavorful. All in all, a great spot to catch up and nosh. Highly recommend!
