If go you back to a place 2 days in a row....then you gotta believe the food is good and feel that this place knows what they are doing. lol The lamb/beef gyro is my "go-to" and delicious. The meat is soft, juicy, seasoned and plentiful. The chicken souvlaki is also one of my favorites here and is equally competing to be Numero Uno -- "go-to." The pita is soft, warms and so tasty too. It is unbelievably fresh and good. The portion size is great and I never leave here hungry. On cheat days, you might as well add in the fries and make it a platter for a small additional cost. The price point is very good and the Greek fries is addictive. Sort of walk the lines of Arby's or Checkers seasoned fries....crispy and good on flavor. The customer service and wait time ordering is good here too. The folks I've encountered have been very friendly and helpful in describing dishes when I feel like venturing from my normal Gyro order. And, on Wednesdays they have $6 gyros!! The gyros are so good that I think it is a crime to pay so less for them but....Hey! Well now I've tried the 3rd branch of this chain and I've just got to say again, the very best moussaka ever! Nice people at the counter. We made our order then walked around Bethesda for a few minutes while our meals were being prepared. The moussaka was great as was the salad that came with everything in the side, just as ordered. We tried the orzo with tomato sauce this time and it's the same sauce that's in the moussaka, so, it was fantastic! The pork souvlaki was said to be tender and delicious. And the fries are great! Great prices, friendly service, good flavors and good portions. I'm a sucker for avgolemono soup (but may still not be able to spell it) and theirs is quite good. I also like their Greek fries and have enjoyed every sandwich I've had there. They also are quite kind and gracious. Popular lunch spot, popped in to fill the tank and slake a thirst. They do a wonderful job on the pita bread, seams to be extra buttery and slightly crisp. Lots of foot traffic so they must be doing something right. The portions are large and left us stuffed. We were very satisfied with our lunch. read more

This is my new favorite spot! The food is so fresh and delicious, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the place is very clean with comfortable space to dine in if you want.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff is amazing they are so nice and if you have questions or want recommendations of what to order they will guide you in the right direction. This is a place with quality food, it is not fast food. They are generally quick at accomplishing orders with 15-20 min, if not they will communicate if the time takes longer. So far Ive only tried the bowls and they give a good amount they have a nice menu for kids ( even for picky eaters). Im so happy they are opening more locations. Great food for average prices! Big Greek Cafe has three locations (Silver Spring, Bethesda, and Rockville). I've found the Silver Spring location to be convenient to downtown Silver Spring - meaning, there's lots to do after grabbing a quick bite to eat. I've only had the Shrimp Slovaki (gyro) platter, and it's tasty and filling. The shrimp gyro comes with lettuce, cheese, and dill sauce; but, I always add tomatoes and onions! The shrimp is seasoned well and never too salty, and there's just enough for each bite. Fries are also included in the platter. The fries are good, but if they weren't part of the meal, I wouldn't be displeased. Service-wise - The owner could stand to be a little friendlier. He rarely smiles and that's a little off-putting. Ok, my credit union is a few doors down from The Big Greek Cafe on New Hampshire Ave., so I stopped in to eat after leaving the union. Their food is SO good. I had the salmon platter combo and my salmon was so hot (and fresh), I had to blow on it before taking a bite. The Salmon was an ample portion sitting on top of their delicious greek potatoes, and I had a mediterranean side salad with it. For fast food, it was a perfect 10. Their Gyros are also delicious. This is my first time here and I tried the gyro pita. It was pretty good, my only criticism is that it needed a little more tzatziki in the pita but they did give a side of it so it held me off. I loved the pita itself - super soft and fluffy. Their fries were my favorite part. It was super crispy and fresh and honestly as a big fries lover I'd go back just for that. I got the greek fries and if you like feta, I would get it but if you're not into it, you're not missing a ton. I've been to a few Greek places in the area and this by far is the best spot with more bang for your buck. It's a nice casual spot, close to many other businesses and is a great place to stop for a quick bite or sit down meal. We came here to try the all day Wednesday $5 gyro deal. I thought maybe all sandwiches would be $5 but it's for the lamb gyro so I decided to get the falafel pita. It's definitely worth the price and the other options on the menu aren't too expensive. You can have fun and make it into a platter if you're hungry. The falafel pita is the best I've had to date. I am a fan of falafel and was curious to see how it would compare to those of my New York days. I absolutely loved it! I also used to work at a mediterranean restaurant and thought the falafel there was decent but at the Gig Greek Cafe, I was in my happy place. The sandwich itself was really fresh and it came with a cube of fresh feta cheese which seemed very European. Apparently Europeans don't sell curdled feta cheese but I'll have to check my source. It also had tzatziki sauce with fresh tomatoes and onions to give it the perfect texture. The pita itself was soft, warm, and fluffy which perfectly wrapped all the contents. We didn't order anything extra because the pita and gyro were very filling but I was eyeing the baklava and sweets. They had a nice display for my sweet tooth and I had to tell myself to look away. Stopped in on a Saturday for lunch. I got the chicken souvlaki pita and roasted potatoes. DELICIOUS! Generous portion of chicken, the creamy dressing on the side was so delicious and you could tell it was homemade. The little cube of feta and pepperoni on the side were a good touch. Tons of street parking outside the building. Located on the busy streets of Georgia Ave. Their $5 gyros on Wednesday is a must try. The interior is very clean and have seasonal dishes on their special menu board in front of the ordering station. We ordered their chicken souvlaki and lamb / beef gyro. With a side of their special fries. All the dishes were good, but recommend the lamb / beef gyro. Plenty of flavor and comes with a side of special sauce and mild green pepper. They also have a special where kids eat free. See attached photos. The staff here are extremely friendly and the tables tends to get cleaned timely after each party. You simply order at the front and the staff will bring the order to your table once ready. Overall, this place is worth giving a try if you are in the mood for Mediterranean food. read more

Can't speak to the dine-in experience as we've always had takeout. You do order at the counter and they will bring the food out to your table. These guys make some really good Greek food. From the soft and pillowy pita bread to the overstuffed gyro and the salads. The gyro with extra tzatziki sauce is one of my favorites (I normally get it with cucumbers instead of tomatoes) and my wife loved the grilled chicken salad. It was extra flavorful and they were generous with the chicken. This place is the only Greek place in the area that actually seasons their gyro meat and it sets them apart by miles. I only wish the fries were seasoned more. The greek fries are not my style, just need a little more salt on the normal ones. read more

This Big Greek location is easily the better of the locations, probably because the owner is always around. I'm a huge fan of the portions. I most recently ordered the Greek salad with salmon and the portion made the price well worth it. The salad was served with pita and tzatsiki. Huge note was that the tzatsiki actually had flavor. When I went to the location in Rockville, I was very disappointed when it literally just tasted like yogurt. Can't go wrong with the big Greek fries!! I came here on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch with a friend. This place was PACKED during lunch, line almost out the door and almost every available seat was taken. I took that as a sign of how delicious the food must be and I was not disappointed :) I ordered the Falafel Pita with Greek fries. The falafel was fried, crispy perfection. The pita bread is stuffed with Tzatziki, lettuce, tomatoes and red onion... all ingredients were fresh, zero complaints from me. The Greek Fries are basically fries topped with feta cheese, oregano and herbs... it sounds so simple, but the huge difference these toppings make is surprising. I was very satisfied with my meal and would definitely come back in the future. My only gripe with this place is how crammed together the seating is, I would take my food to-go next time to avoid squishing myself into a seat to scarf my food down elbow to elbow with strangers :P Other than that, staff were friendly... they actually got my order wrong and did not give me the Greek Fries, but quickly apologized and corrected the situation. If you are in Downtown Silver Spring and craving Greek food, I would highly recommend The Big Greek Cafe :) It is walking distance from the metro as well as from multiple parking garages (close to the main strip of shops off Ellsworth, about a 5 minute walk). read more
